I Received System to Become Dragonborn-Chapter 936: A Simple Request
Chapter 936: A Simple Request
Eccar stepped into Sylmira’s chamber with the same casual confidence as always then settling into the cushioned seat opposite her like it was his own room.
Sylmira, still dressed in her pale night-robe, had been pouring over one of her many thick tomes when he arrived.
She glanced down briefly then closed the book with quiet grace, as if to hide any hint of displeasure. Her fingers brushed across the cover gently and she folded her hands in her lap.
Despite the warmth in her expression a quiet sigh echoed inside her. She’d hoped to finish her journaling and call it a night. But it was Eccar. She couldn’t bring herself to turn him away.
"What brings you here?" Sylmira asked with smooth voice.
"I need help," Eccar said plainly. "A friend of mine has a sister. The girl awakened Magic recently, and now he wants someone to guide her. Someone who can train her properly."
Sylmira raised an eyebrow, her calm expression faltering ever so slightly. That was an unusual request.
"Usually, people like that go to the academy," she said, her tone still neutral but edged with caution. "You don’t just walk into my door and ask the Archmage of Qomore to take a pupil. Unless I choose them as my apprentice."
Eccar gave a small shrug. "Yeah. But this one’s different."
She narrowed her eyes slightly, studying him. "Who is this friend of yours?"
Eccar exhaled. "He’s not from this world. It’s complicated. The world where he’s from, there’s no Magic. But because his sister came into contact with him, she awakened her own Magic."
Sylmira leaned back in thought, fingers steepled under her chin. That idea wasn’t entirely unknown to her. There were rare cases of dormant Magic being awakened through proximity to powerful beings, artifacts, or ancient forces.
If this girl had been touched by such power...
Then realization flickered in her eyes. Eccar’s friend. The way he spoke. The situation.
"You’re saying... he’s like you?" Sylmira asked, voice quiet but sharp.
Eccar nodded once. "Another Dragonborn like me, yeah." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Sylmira blinked. Her breath caught for a moment. Two Dragonborn, alive in the same era? The history taught that even one appearing in a thousand years was a miracle.
She stared at Eccar with stunned expression.
He watched her reaction and then asked, "So, you willing to help or not?"
Sylmira snapped out of it, then slowly nodded, a spark of curiosity and excitement in her eyes.
"I am willing. Training the sister of another Dragonborn... how could I say no?" Sylmira said.
"Good," Eccar stood. "Next, I’ll reach out to Adrius. See if he’s in as well."
Sylmira’s brow creased. "Adrius? The Archmage of Astoria?"
Eccar nodded again, like it was no big deal.
Sylmira stared, unsure whether to laugh or sigh. These Dragonborns tossed around names of Archmages like they were casual neighbors. She gave up trying to understand their scale.
"Very well," she said with a small smile. "Let me know if anything else is needed."
Eccar gave her a lazy two-finger wave and walked out.

The next day dawned bright and clear. Erend rose early, eat his breakfast, and drove Arty to school.
The drive was quiet, but not in a bad way, just peaceful. Arty stared out the window with her music humming through her earbuds and Erend focused on the road, his mind already turning toward the day ahead.
After she hopped out with a small wave, Erend turned the car toward the base.
Arriving at the base, Erend made a straight line for the cafeteria.
His head still foggy from the early morning even after breakfast and the slight weight of worry clinging to his thoughts like mist. He grabbed a steaming cup of bitter coffee, leaned against a nearby table, and took a long sip.
Before he could fully enjoy the silence, a soldier approached. He was young and looks curious. His eyes darting left and right before speaking in a lowered voice.
"Sir... is it true? That we’re really bringing the Magic experiments back? I mean... there’s been rumors, but..."
Erend didn’t answer right away. He met the soldier’s eyes over the rim of his mug, weighing his words. Then he simply nodded. "Yeah. It’s true."
The soldier’s eyes widened. "But... what if something like before happens again?"
Erend knew exactly what he meant. The destruction of the old lab. The collapse of the project. The death toll. What no one knew except for the highe ups was that he had destroyed it himself to stop what would’ve become a weapon for war. The power of Magic that forced into the grip of greed.
He gave a calm smile that have just enough weight behind it. "That won’t happen again. I’ll make sure of it."
He took another slow sip. "This time, I’ll be the one choosing the candidates."
The soldier visibly relaxed at that. People still remembered what Erend had done. How he, Adrien, and Billy had been the veteran of the war againts Elves, how they have saved the world when monsters tore through the city, when President Julius was possessed by something that didn’t belong in this world.
Their names carried weight, especially Erend who have strength and battle-hardened experience, and alive and healthy without any problem.
"I see," the soldier said, then offered a respectful nod and made his exit. Erend didn’t miss the way he picked up speed. He wa no doubt will be running to spread the news like wildfire.
Erend sighed then finished his coffee. Then made his way to his office.
When he arrived on his room, he saw on his desk there were twenty thick folders waited for him, stacked neatly. He, Adrien, and Billy who now also sit in their desk know that it was.
Each one was a name, a background, a chance, and a risk. Adrien had his own stack, probably already halfway through it. Billy too.
Erend let out a sigh and rolled his shoulders and sat down. He opened the first file then his eyes narrowing in focus.
If they were going to do this again, they need to do it right.
