I Received System to Become Dragonborn-Chapter 874: Golems
An earth spear the size of a small hill erupted from the ground with a thunderous roar, rising in front of the five golems charging toward Eccar.
The sheer force of the earth power sent tremors through the forest floor. The golems halted immediately. Their massive stone bodies skidding to a halt as the immense spear blocked their path.
But it didn't stop there.
The massive spear extended forward with a sudden strong surge. Its jagged point splitting into several branches that stabbed into the golems.
Each strike landed with a cracking sounds. They were not only raw mass but by shimmering veins of condensed Magic energy thatt pulsed like lightning through the earth, making the entire structure vibrate with power.
The impact hurled chunks of stone into the air and gouged deep into the golems' bodies.
However, they still did not fall.
Eccar narrowed his golden eyes. His wings beating furiously as he hovered above them.
He gritted his teeth. He though that this much should've been enough. But it wasn't.
These weren't ordinary constructs. The stone that made their bodies was harder and denser. Those damned stones likely enchanted or summoned from beyond this world.
"I see," he growled. "You're tougher than the usual rock."
With a deep breath, he poured more Magic into the earth spear. The glowing veins intensified then changing from brown to blazing brown.
The spear twisted then slammed forward again. This time burrowing deeper and finally, the golems' bodies began to give way.
Cracks splintered through their stone chests. Bright green light bled from within the fractures, casting eerie patterns across the trees.
The green glow in their eyes flared as if reacting to the real threat and a low mechanical rumble rose from deep inside them like ancient engines grinding to life.
Eccar hovered, glaring down.
"Alright… what surprise do you have now?"
He hadn't planned to stay long and only wanted to create a distraction and buy time. But now, seeing their resilience, he refused to back off. His anger burned.
And so, he changed his mind and though that he would finish this.
The five golems suddenly raised their massive arms. Green flames of Magic surged around their bodies as they punched the towering earth spear in unison.
Cracks raced up the structure. The fragments of the earth breaking loose. They attack again and again. Until finally the giant spear shattered with a violent shockwave. Rocks exploding outward in a storm of debris and light.
But before they could react Eccar was there.
He dove from the sky like a meteor. His both arms blazing with Magic.
CRACK!
His claws tore into the cracked armor of the first golem in a singl swipe, widening the breach, and with a powerful twist of his body he drove a compressed lance of earth straight through its glowing core.
The light died instantly. The golem collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut. Stones crashing to the ground in chunks.
The second turned to swing to Eccar but it was too slow. Eccar twisted in the air, his wings folding as he dropped low and surged upward again like a spring.
He punched straight into the golem's chest with a spear made of hardened eaarth and shattered the core in a burst of green sparks.
The third and fourth tried to coordinate and attack together but Eccar blasted between them, sending arcs of Magc energy into their already-cracked bodies.
The surging current danced through the fractures causing them to stop. Then explode from the inside out, stone raining down like shrapnel.
The last golem raised its fist to crush him and Eccar met it head-on with gritted teeth.
He slammed his claw into its arm, forcing it back, then drove his foot into the golem's knee, shattering its stance.
In a flash, he launched his final attack. He send a thin spike of compressed earth, honed to a perfect point and supercharged with Magic.
He drove it through the golem's chest in one clean shot.
The green glow in its eyes flickered, then went out.
The forest fell silent except for the hiss of evaporating Magic.
Eccar landed among the rubble. The remains of the five golems scattered around him. The green light faded completely, leaving only steaming broken stone behind.
"Huh, the distraction successful," he muttered, brushing dust from his shoulders.
But then he narrowed his eyes. The way the golems had moved before their destruction replaying in his mind. Their staggered steps and synchronized punches that came one after another.
"They were connected somehow, maybe they shared a mind."
That was dangerous.
"Damn," he muttered.
It wasn't random. Each golem had responded to the others and seemingly able to covering each other's, adjusting their positions with precision.
If the adventurers were to fight them later they'd need to isolate them and never let them pull more than one. That kind of hive-minded defense could crush an entire squad if they weren't careful.
He needed to warn the others about this later.
Turning toward the temple, he already saw the adventurers breaching its gates, and slipping into the dark interior.
Hopefully, they'd be alright inside. He had bought them time but he couldn't know what awaited them in that ancient ruin.
He flared his wings again and shot upward into the air. It wasn't hard to find Erend because the fight was raging like a beacon in the distance. Flames and vines danced together in a chaotic swirl.
As he neared, the scene snapped into focus.
Erend was bound. By thick living vines curled around his limbs and torso, dragging him toward the ground. Orange fire danced across his body, not burning him outright but clearly meant to wear him down.
His Dragon aura flickering through the vines beneath storm clouds.
And across from him, just a few meters away, was a woman.
She stood with perfect ease, her dark hair wild and glowing in the firelight, a cruel smirk playing across her lips. Her eyes gleamed with satisfaction as she watched Erend struggle.
She laughed. That sound sent a jolt of rage through Eccar's veins.
He didn't think and just launched himself.
He burst through the treetops straight toward her. His wings flared wide at the last second, and his claws crackled with furious Magic. novelbuddy.cσ๓
