After hearing the information from Saeldir, Erend and Eccar moved quickly through the palace corridors, their footsteps light but determined.

Around them, the echoes of celebration filled the air. Laughter, cheers, and the occasional sound of a lute being strummed by an Elf who had found the strength to play even just few minutes after the battle was over. They don't know that these Elves already have energy to do that.

The victory was hard-earned, and the Elves embraced it with all their hearts.

Despite their urgency, Erend and Eccar couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at the sight. These warriors had faced one of the greatest trials of their lives, and they had survived. It was a moment worth celebrating.

And actually they didn't help too much.

A few Elves with faces that alight with relief and joy called out to them as they passed.

"Erend! Eccar! Join us! We drink to victory tonight until morning!"

Erend gave a small grin but shook his head.

"Later," he said.

"Yeah, save us some," Eccar added, flashing a smirk before moving ahead.

The Elves laughed, not pressing them further, their focus returning to the celebration.

Soon, they arrived at Saeldir's chamber. Erend pushed the door open and the two slipped inside, shutting it behind them.

The room was exactly as they had left it before the battle—shelves lined with ancient tomes, intricate magical artifacts resting on desks, papers scattered in a way that only someone as knowledgeable as Saeldir could truly make sense of. And of course, the teapot that already cold now.

Eccar immediately began scanning the room. "It should be here somewhere," he muttered.

They searched quickly, moving aside books and parchment until Eccar spotted something near the far end of the chamber.

It was a large, circular diagram etched onto a thick slab of enchanted stone, partially covered by an old cloth. Saeldir actually already managed to put this on a stone slab, not just on paper. He must be already thought that this will be important in the future.

He pulled the cloth away and called out, "Erend, I think I found it."

Erend walked over, and the moment he saw it, he knew. The diagram was marked with complex Magic runes and design, glowing faintly even without energy being channeled into it. This had to be the one.

They carefully lifted the slab and placed it in the center of the room. Kneeling before it, they exchanged a nod before placing their hands on its surface.

Closing their eyes, they channeled their Magic, sending a steady stream of energy into the diagram.

The runes flared to life, pulsing with power as they absorbed the Magic. The room was filled with a low hum, the air growing thick with energy.

A minute later, the diagram reacted fully. With a flash of blue light, a swirling portal burst open before them, its surface shimmering like liquid glass.

Beyond it, shadows of a different world flickered, distorted and unclear but unmistakably waiting. Erend saw familiar sight of it. It was just like the world he had saw before, filled with neon lights and brught skyscraper buildings.

Eccar exhaled. "Well, there it is."

Erend stood up, his gaze fixed on the portal. "Let's go."

Without hesitation, the two stepped forward and disappeared into that world.

Far from the celebration of the Elves, Erend and Eccar emerged from the other side of the portal, arriving at the same tower where Erend had previously appeared. He could still see the remnants of his battle with Laston in the open field in front of the tower.

"Whoa, look at that!" Eccar exclaimed, his tone filled with shock as he took in the sight of this world.

Skyscrapers loomed high, adorned with countless lights and massive digital billboards displaying moving three-dimensional images.

Vehicles hovered above the ground, racing through the air at incredible speeds. Blimps carrying holographic advertisements—one of which featured a nearly naked woman—drifted just a few meters away from them.

Eccar came from a world far removed from technology, but he had traveled across various realms, including Erend's homeworld, where civilization had advanced significantly. But this… this was something different.

He thought he would never be awed by technological advancements again, yet here he was, marveling at just how far humans in this world had evolved.

"Yeah, this is pretty impressive," Erend admitted. "Let's go. We don't have time to admire it."

"Alright," Eccar nodded.

The two of them made their way toward the tower. Several guards were still stationed there, unaware that their master—and his subordinates—had already died during the invasion.

"Hey! Stop right there!" one of the guards shouted, raising his pulse rifle at Erend and Eccar.

Erend, of course, ignored him. Without hesitation, he conjured a fireball in his hand and hurled it at them.

BOOM!

The fireball exploded, engulfing the guards' metallic armor in roaring flames. They screamed, warning alerts flashing across their visors as their suits detected critical failure.

But Erend's fire was too fast. They had no time to react. Their armor melted, consuming them entirely.

Erend and Eccar walked past them without slowing down. The tower's alarm blared loudly as they ventured deeper inside, but neither showed any concern—their Dragon scales were already active.

"What exactly are we looking for?" Eccar asked. An energy shot zipped toward him, but he ignored it, letting it strike his scales. It sizzled upon impact but failed to penetrate.

"Data. Information," Erend replied. "Laston has been missing for years, so I'm sure he's been doing more than just enhancing himself with this technology and building his army."

Eccar simply nodded.

They tore through the tower's defenses, cutting down armored guards and even robots of various designs and sizes. The destruction they left in their wake was immense, but soon they realized it was getting out of hand—the damage they were causing could bring the entire tower down.

"Minimize the attack. We can't let the tower collapse before we find anything," Erend said.

Eccar nodded again and switched tactics, using his claws to tear apart the guards instead. Erend followed suit, ensuring they kept moving forward without destroying the tower entirely.

Moving swiftly, Erend and Eccar ascended the tower, floor by floor, searching for anything that might hold valuable information.

They scanned rooms filled with humming machinery and massive computers, each one dedicated to maintaining the intricate systems of the tower. Mechanical arms adjusted panels, holographic interfaces flickered with indecipherable data and cooling vents hissed softly in the dimly lit corridors.

Yet, despite their efforts, they found nothing useful. Every terminal they accessed only displayed maintenance logs or system diagnostics and every locked chamber they broke into contained nothing but more machines tending to other machines.

Time stretched on as they continued their search, frustration beginning to creep in. Then, after what felt like hours of aimless searching, Eccar suddenly stopped in his tracks, his expression shifting.

"This is getting us nowhere," he said. "What if we stop looking for answers ourselves and just make someone tell us?"

Erend considered it for a moment, then nodded. "That might actually be our best option. If Laston's dead, then someone else must be running things now."

"Exactly," Eccar said, cracking his knuckles. "Let's grab one of these guards and have a little chat."

Without wasting time, they moved swiftly through the corridors. The tower's security forces were still on high alert after the alarm had sounded earlier, making it easier for Erend and Eccar to spot lone guards patrolling the halls.

It wasn't long before they found their target—a soldier clad in sleek black armor, his rifle at the ready as he walked cautiously down a deserted hallway.

Before the guard could react, Eccar attack while moving with inhuman speed. His hand clamped over the guard's mouth, muffling his attempted shout, while his other arm wrenched the rifle away with brutal efficiency.

The man struggled, but he was no match for the Dragonborn's strength.

Erend stepped forward, his golden eyes glowing faintly in the dim light.

"If you scream, you die," he said, his voice calm but firm. "Nod if you understand."

The guard, his breath ragged with fear, nodded rapidly.

"Good," Erend continued. "Now tell us. Who's in charge of this place now that Laston is dead?"

The guard hesitated, his visor reflecting the cold glow of the overhead lights. Then, realizing he had no other option, he muttered, "The lead mechanic. He… he's the one keeping everything running. Without him, this whole place falls apart."

"Where is he?" Eccar asked.

"He lives beneath the tower… in the underground facility."

Erend and Eccar exchanged glances. That was all they needed to hear.

Without another word, Eccar slammed the guard into the wall, knocking him unconscious. His body crumpled to the floor, his breathing shallow but steady.

"Guess we're heading underground," Erend said.

"Finally, something useful," Eccar smirked.

Wasting no time, they turned and made their way toward the lower levels of the tower.
