I Picked the Useless Class… Turns Out It's the Most Broken in the Game-Chapter 66: A Restaurant?
’This guy is obviously lying. No one in their right mind would kick a tactician if they didn’t complete their class quest... they’ll help their tactician to complete it.’
’Let’s play along for now, I’ll know about it soon.’
"Hmm, well that’s sad," Leon said, walking steadily.
Cain’s eyes remained grounded, twisting his fingers slightly. "Yeah... since then, I was just trying to complete the class quest."
Leon’s gaze fell on him once, but then switched to the front again. ’This guy thinks that we’re dumb?’
"Don’t worry too much, Little Cain. I’ll help you with your class quest, unlike your old friends, who kicked you out." Synthia said, proudness was buried inside her tone.
His gaze shifted towards Synthia, eyes widened slightly as he sighed.
A thought curled up inside his mind.
’Well, I guess one of us is definitely dumb.’
By the time they left the city, evening had already settled in. They soon entered a barren stretch of land, where not a single traveller could be seen at such an hour.
Trees crowded the surroundings, their silhouettes dark against the fading light.
The road beneath their feet was soaked in wet mud, as though rain had only just passed through.
After a while of travelling, the night had finally covered the entire ground.
Bright moonlight spread across the land as the cold breeze flew across them.
A lone wooden building stood before them in the middle of nowhere, exuding an eerie, haunted aura.
When they reached closer, a faint bright light was coming out through its inside.
A huge board was tucked next to its side, stating that ’Dine or Deck.’
’Hmm, it’s kind of a restaurant. In the middle of nowhere, but it’s understandable.’
’Travellers might come around by this time to eat.’
Before he could do something, someone grabbed him by his arm.
Leon’s expression darkened, his gaze shifted towards his arm as he noticed that Synthia was clinging to his arm, her grip tightened even more.
A small scream came out through her mouth. "EEEE!!!"
"Newbie, it’s scary..." she muttered, her eyes remaining closed.
Leon smiled slightly and patted her arm. "Senior, it’s just a restaurant. There’s no need to get scared about." He said.
His gaze shifted towards Cain, who seemed to be scared by the appearance of the restaurant.
"Are you scared too?" He asked.
Cain shook his head multiple times, his body completely drenched with sweat. "N-No... I’m not a kid, I’m not scared." He said.
Leon chuckled as he asked. "Any of you two hungry? Because I surely am, I’m going inside to eat."
He started walking towards the main door, steps were steady.
Synthia ran behind him, eyes closed as she said out loud. "AHHH!!! Don’t leave me behind, newbie!!!"
Cain followed behind them quickly, his skin colour turning pale. "I don’t want to stay behind either." He muttered.
The three of them entered the building. The interior wasn’t fancy.
A few tables stood in front of them, empty of people; only trays of food remained, already gone cold.
A thought curled in the mind of Leon, looking at the tables.
’Huh? Food trays are kept on the table, but there are no people?’
A sigh left his mouth as he began walking towards the main counter.
There was a table placed next to the wall, and some old accessories were kept on it.
An old man sat on a chair next to the table; he was wearing spectacles, and a newspaper remained in his grip.
Leon looked at him once and then said. "Can we get a table for three?"
The old man didn’t look at him, nor did he reply.
Leon thought. ’What’s wrong with this guy?’
Synthia leaned over the counter. "Old man, we need a table for three." She said, voice a bit loud.
That man still didn’t say anything.
A vein bulged on her forehead. "Hey! Are you listening or not, old man?"
"Or has old age completely ruined your hearing?" She said.
Before she could continue, the old man lifted his hand as he pointed towards the table in the furthest corner of the room.
All three of them looked there in unison and started walking.
They took their seats, and a menu was kept in front of them.
Leon picked it as he read the entries. ’I don’t know what these food items even are... what the hell is Blackblood Pudding?’
Before he could read any further, Synthia’s voice came. "I’ll take Bonebroth of the Marches."
’What the hell is it... I should play along, or it’ll hurt her feelings.’
A smile tugged his lips. "Okay, senior. I’ll go and tell the old man."
His eyes shifted towards Cain, who was still looking at the menu.
"Are you done checking, Cain?" He asked.
Cain gave a small, nervous nod. "Y-Yes... I’ll take Honeyed Apple Slices."
Leon got up from the table as he walked towards the main counter.
"We’ll take one Bonebroth of the Marches and one Honeyed Apple Slices." He said.
The old man didn’t reply to him and just gave a nod.
He picked up a note and wrote down the orders.
’What’s wrong with this old man?’ He thought.
But he turned around and walked back towards their table.
He sat back, crossed his arms. ’There’s definitely something wrong with this place. It’s in the middle of nowhere, no people here, but there’s food on the plates.’
’And then, this suspicious old man.’
But before he could think about something else, the old man approached their table with the food plates.
He placed them on the table as he bowed slightly and said. "Enjoy your meal." His voice had that eerie feeling behind it.
