I Only Wanted A Class In The Apocalypse-Chapter 1874: The Very Useful Olana!
Hye’s strategy wasn’t to act like the other empires—maintaining a thin, overstretched presence across vast distances. His goal was to control a world, strip it of its valuable assets and people, and move everything back to his central territory.
Controlling a dozen disparate worlds without the proper means to defend them would be a grave tactical error.
He saw no point in having his influence scattered across the galaxy like a giant whose body parts were separated by light-years. It was inefficient and vulnerable.
If the worlds weren’t close to his primary territory, he wouldn’t bother keeping a garrison there.
Instead, his long-term plan involved building and preparing a fleet of artificial planets to accommodate the newly acquired races. Thinking about this only reinforced his need to acquire more artificial planet technology.
"At some point, I’ll send my generals and my most capable talents to acquire these worlds for me," Hye said, his eyes fixed on the grand sector map.
He began to envision using the same tactics the Big Three used—treating these conflict zones as training grounds to nourish his promising seedlings while he focused on the grander design.
Unlike the protracted, agonisingly slow approach the Big Three races favoured for grooming their youth, Hye decided it was far more efficient to hurl his talents directly into the fire.
He wanted them to compete for the acquisition of new worlds as a rite of passage.
While he wasn’t entirely certain how many months or years it would take for a single commander to subjugate an entire planet, he felt confident that with the right combination of rigorous training and his personal support, the process would be drastically accelerated.
"What are you thinking about?" Olana asked, her voice breaking a silence that had lasted for hours.
Hye had been so deeply lost in his strategic calculations that he hadn’t noticed the passage of time. Olana, meanwhile, had been a whirlwind of productivity.
She had spent the last few hours scouring databases, synthesising raw intel, and finalising a series of complex deals on his behalf.
As she finished her final transmission, she turned to find him standing in exactly the same spot, wearing the same distant expression as when she had left him.
"About the future," Hye replied. It was a short answer, yet it carried the weight of a thousand shifting variables.
He turned his attention to her, sizing her up and down. He immediately noticed the faint, triumphant smile playing at the corners of her lips—a look of undeniable pride. "Something tells me you’ve accomplished something great while I was daydreaming."
"I did more than just ’something great,’" she laughed, the sound bright and amusing. She stood up, grabbed a sleek chair from the side of the deck, and dragged it close to him.
She sat down, her presence warm and grounding. "I can tell you’re eyeing those hot zones and the worlds within them. I have a general sense of your thoughts, but I don’t know your true intentions for them in the long term. So..."
"So...?" Hye prompted, gesturing for her to continue.
With a lazy, practised motion of her fingers, she tapped a sequence of commands into her interface. A massive new projection flared to life in the centre of the deck, pulsating with data streams.
"So, I gathered everything," she said. "Intel, field reports, sensor recordings, raw data, and historical statistics regarding a long series of battles in those hot zones dating back five centuries. Everything you could ever possibly need to understand the terrain and the enemy is contained in this encyclopedia. I believe it will be of great help to you."
Hye stared at the sheer volume of information. This wasn’t just a map; it was a tactical legacy—a comprehensive breakdown of five hundred years of galactic warfare.
He stood up slowly, feeling a genuine surge of emotion. He was truly touched and deeply impressed by the effort she had expended for his sake. She wasn’t just an ally; she was his greatest asset.
"Thank you," Hye said softly. He stepped toward her, his shadow falling over her controls. He reached out and pressed her arm gently, causing the projection to freeze and fade. "I believe we still have a few hours left before the planetary protection ends, right?"
"R... Right..." Olana stammered.
The sudden proximity, the warmth of his hand, and the intensity in his eyes caught her off guard. Feeling his breath so close to her face made her body tremble and her voice shake with a sudden, sharp anticipation.
Before she could process the shift in the room’s energy, she found herself being swept off her feet. Hye carried her with ease toward a small, private room attached to the deck, where he laid her gently upon the large bed.
For the next few hours, the looming war and the data-filled screens were forgotten.
Olana felt herself drowning in the depths of a profound pleasure, losing track of time and space on more than one occasion as the tension of the coming conflict was replaced by something far more intimate.
"You are naughty!" she gasped much later.
As she regained her full consciousness, she realised the room was quiet. Hye was already back on the deck, leaving her alone in the centre of a bed of dishevelled sheets and tangled blankets. She sat up, smoothing her hair, a playful but exhausted pout on her face.
"We have less than an hour before the protection falls," Hye called out from the deck. He leaned against the doorway, giving her a long, lingering look. His eyes traced the lines of her body, barely veiled by the white sheets, with a hunger that suggested he was already craving more.
"Then tell yourself this: we have absolutely no time for any more of that," she said, unable to keep from laughing under his intense gaze. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
She didn’t wait for him to respond. She slipped out of bed, returned to the room to change back into her formal clothes, and soon took her place by his side at the command console.
The atmosphere had shifted back to one of cold, professional readiness as they waited for the opening salvos of the expected battles.
