I Only Wanted A Class In The Apocalypse-Chapter 1838: Hye’s Great Appetite!
Moth had tons of questions regarding that portal. First, he couldn’t tell if this was a system granted ability or some sort of special gadget effect. Yet he was sure the encirclement enforced around this place couldn’t be broken by any gadget.
"If it’s the system, then I need to have a little chitchat with those bastards in the upper desks," he thought about the system higher-ups, thinking they kept such a thing away from mighty race leaders like himself. And yet there was still a single, and far remote possibility of that move being a special thing for Hye.
"Just like the bones," Moth thought, "I tried to unveil the secrets behind how to get these, and yet the answers I and others got were the same; it was something unique for this human. But..."
When he considered this less likely possibility, he couldn’t help but consider it as true. He knew how this human was a magnet for such unlikely stuff. And so another question rose in his mind. "Is it something new, related to his newly established base in the universe, or... It’s something he had in the apocalypse, and we all missed it?"
Moth saw how Hye opened the portal, he just waved an arm and a small swirling portal appeared next. He knew in the middle of hectic events and turbulent times, it was so easy to miss such an insignificant act from Hye, "if so, then it means no one in the entire universe is well aware of his true abilities... Don’t tell me, the Toranks knew, so they tried their best to tame and stop his growth..." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
He kept examining and sizing Hye up and down, feeling like he had finally started to crack an unsolved mystery regarding this human and the Toranks’ relationship.
This tie was always a mystery for everyone else. No single race would risk losing their sole source of the bones, like how the Toranks did. And to add more puzzlement to the entire situation, it lacked any sort of suitable explanation or logical reasons!
What he got from his spies at the Toranks was their fear of Hye’s growth, and they decided it was better to limit his resources, control his growth speed, even at the risk of losing their source of precious bones.
Yet right now, Moth could see a glimpse of why they feared him. "Stupid Toranks! That’s why they will never surpass us! What’s the point if a mighty race feared someone like Hye? What’s the point in fearing anything with potential just for the fear of losing control over it later on? No risks, no gains, what a stupid bunch of useless fellows!"
Moth kept cursing and complaining about their lack of bravery and strength required, yet he soon felt blessed by this. "If not for their lack of confidence, I wouldn’t have stumbled over this chance..." his eyes watched as Hye was taking his time going through the long lists he sent over, "one way or another, this human will be tied to the Hescos’ ship. Let other folks cry blood out of regret; they deserve it and more!"
At the same time, Hye was slowly going through the lists he received on purpose. Most of the things mentioned were stuff he researched about, so he didn’t really need all this time to get through this stuff.
He already had a few special things he wanted from the Hescos. But he was taking his time to go through something different. "They want more than what I even imagined! It’s not just a normal trade deal, it’s going to be a full pledge alliance between the two of us! At least that will be on the outer battlefield and wars with the other universe!"
Hye knew the stakes were way higher than what he initially imagined. As the Hescos wanted more from him, not just his bones, he decided the current offered lists of goods weren’t enough!
"It looks good," After almost an hour, Hye suddenly said, without lifting his eyes off the screens in front of him, "but it’s great... Lacking!"
"Lacking?!" Moth feigned his surprise. He was a veteran in terms of striking trade deals, and so he didn’t send everything to Hye. In fact, he kept the most precious stuff hidden, only sending the commonly found trade goods that anyone could find on the system channels and from trade groups!
He was sure, if he was in Hye’s shoes, he wouldn’t take a single step here before doing his thorough research. And he wanted to see if Hye would settle on less valuable goods, or he knew the real worth of his services and would ask for far better!
And it was indeed the latter!
"Don’t bluff me," Hye could read through Moth’s mind, "just save both of us the trouble, and send me everything."
"You are... Really a good trader, hahaha!" Moth thought of playing dumb a little longer, but he felt Hye was going to end the meeting if he dared to play him again. So he sent more lists, not all of what he had, of course, "I sent the lists I have..."
"Without checking them, I can tell this isn’t everything," Hye took a deep breath, acting as if the two of them weren’t on the same page, "listen, from what you want from me, you must provide things of real value. I don’t give a fck about tons of spaceships or even entire races and planets! I want things on par with technological top secrets, regarding welfare, building civilisations, and even business stuff!"
"..." Hearing what Hye said made Moth speechless! Even in the highest value of lists he kept hidden so far, there was not much of what Hye spoke of, at best, there were one or two items thrown there just as a courtesy for the deal!
What Hye wanted was to trade not the finished product, but the secrets lying behind making them! This was something that even he couldn’t make a call about!
