I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 99: The Devil Comes Knocking

Blaze raises his head slightly to look at the huge building that is Akansa Police Force Headquarters.

It is locked behind a giant metal gate with a smaller door at the side for private personnel.

There are already ten police officers in uniform standing at the gate, waiting for Blaze.

Each is armed to the teeth. Thick black vests on the outside with rifles in their hands.

These are no ordinary rifles. Blaze can feel the electricity coursing in the metal. The rifles have hollowed-out barrels with an invisible magnetic field between their sides.

These are railguns. It has enough speed to catch most B-rank Speedsters and enough power to penetrate a tank.

The cops really go all out this time.

They are also wearing a specially made helmet that covers the upper half of their face. All types of functions are built into the helmet, aiding them in their actions.

"Stand down! I said, stand down!"

A police officer yells. All ten point their guns at Blaze.

Blaze does the usual quote.

"Surrender and you may live.

Stand in my way, and your soul shall burn for eternity more."

"Delusional freak! Open fire!"

The police officer yells, and they are all shooting at him.

The railguns let out whoosh sounds when they shoot out bullets. Similar to those trains that also use magnetic fields to travel.

These guns don’t have muzzle flash. Instead, when the bullet leaves the barrel, an invisible force is spread to the surrounding area, the initial force propelling the projectile to an extreme speed.

Blaze and Ghostblood stand still. Their figure becomes semi-transparent.

All the electricity-infused bullets go right through them and decimate the ground behind.

"What... What is going on?"

[Astral Form (C-rank): You can phase through solid objects.]

Mitsuhiro’s unique power that he awakened after consuming the Extraction.

"Our turn."

Blaze smirks. His golden eyes glow with a red color. The dark red energy of fear spreads out again, reaching to the gate guards.

"Move! Do not stop!

This power takes time to reach us. Stop, and you’ll die."

The police force was informed about Blaze’s Fear. Not all of them can see the energy like Adam, so the only thing they can do is move fast and hope the power won’t catch up.

The guards return fire while on the move.

Unfortunately for them, each bullet phases through Blaze and Ghostblood.

This brings down a hopeless feeling to all the guards. A being that you can see but cannot hurt is too much for a human to handle.

Four of the guards throw their guns down and run away.

The rest also throw their guns, but not to retreat, they switch to using their power. Since the railguns are useless, they try another attack.

One guard puffs up his chest, his lungs enlarge like a balloon. And then he screams.

A high-pitched sound wave smashes into Blaze and Ghostblood.

This attack they cannot ignore, and the sound wave is leaving marks on their body. Its high-pitched noise also causes Ghostblood to feel a bit dizzy.

The Hidden Power Fear is interrupted.

Blaze taps on Mitsuhiro’s neck, ordering him to move. They dash out of the sound wave radius, moving to the side.

"His attack works! Try to attack with your power!"

A cop yells, and the other guards immediately copy.

A guard has his fists light up in yellow. He punches them repeatedly into the air, aiming at Blaze’s location.

Fists made out of yellow energy shoot out from his hand and fly toward Blaze like bullets.

But he and Ghostblood are too fast for the fists to hit.

The railgun bullets are fast enough, but they are solid objects and are affected by Astral Form. The energy fist can hurt them, but it is way slower than the railguns.

Another cop slams his fist on the ground, cracks appear and reach toward Blaze.

A circle of cracks surrounding Blaze and Ghostblood. That part of the ground suddenly collapses and becomes much lower than the rest.

Blaze and Ghostblood are now trapped.

The guards immediately use this opportunity to attack.

The guard with the yellow fist shoots out his energy strike again.

The scream guy lets out another high-pitched sound wave.

One guard tears out his shirt and uses a knife to cut a shallow wound on his arm. Blood flows out of him and turns into a red spear to strike.

Another removes his helmet and has his hairs all stand up, pointing at Blazr. Green energy shoots out from the tips of the hair.

All kinds of attacks are aimed at Blaze and Ghostblood at once, surrounding them and leaving no space for dodging.

Blaze taps Mitsuhiro’s head gently.

"Turns back to your soul form and hides under the ground. I’ll take it from here!"

"Got it, boss!"

Blaze sits on his toe while on Mitsuhiro’s back. He takes a deep breath in, electricity dances around in his lungs, lights up, and fuses to his body. The yellow aura materializes again, exuding out from Blaze’s body.

Blaze disappears. Mitsuhiro turns into a yellow fireball and seeps underground. Both evaded the barrages successfully.

The hole in the ground explodes, making a ball of dust that prevents the cops’ eyes from seeing clearly.

"What happened? Is it dead?"

The cop swirls his hand around to get rid of the floating dust. And then he looks down at the hole.

There is nobody down there. Not a man nor a horse.

"I’m not dead, but you are."

Blaze moves so fast they can’t even comprehend. He moves to the back of the cop, and before he has the chance to react, slices his throat with the Moonlight Karambit.

The cop drops down to the ground, gurgling in his own pool of blood.

"It’s alive!"

Another cop shouts out. They all turn toward Blaze to attack him once more.

But he is too fast for them. Blaze disappears from the original location, leaving only a lightning bolt following his path.

He approaches the cop with a yellow fist and places his hand on the cop’s stomach.

Thunder Force lets loose, and the yellow lightning sends the cop flying away, smashing into the nearby tree.

An invisible shockwave spreads out from the point of contact, crushing all the bones inside that cop, killing him in the process.

The cop with living hair tries to attack Blaze’s back, but the green energy catches nothing but air.

In the blink of an eye, Blaze moves out of the way.

This time, a ball of lightning forms inside his hand. He slams the ball onto the ground, creating an enormous force that sends all the cops flying, interrupting their attack.

Before they even land on the ground, Blaze zips around to finish them one by one.

He jumps onto the nearest cop that is still in midair, his palm points at the cop’s head, and one thunderous noise later. The head explodes into several pieces.

[You have gained 100 experience points]

Then Blaze uses his body as a platform to jump up again.

The Destruction Wand appears in his hand. The red lightning shoots out, decimating the cop with living hair that gets sent away the farthest.

His entire body burns to a crisp.

[You have gained 250 experience points!]

The next cop lands his butt on the ground but is crushed immediately by Blaze’s feet.

He steps on that cop and, with enormous strength provided by Lightning Ascension, pierces his feet right through the man’s chest.

[You have gained 100 experience points!]

The sixth cop is the last one standing. He looks at his friends who died a horrible death.

His feet shake like a wet dog after a bath.

Their battle plan was sound, and they were able to interrupt Blaze’s Fear with a counterattack.

But all was in vain.

Blaze looks at the cop and simply says, "Kill yourself."

The cop crawls to a railgun and aims its barrel at his face.

One screeching sound later, his brain is now scattered on the ground. His lifeless body falls down.

And then the cop that got his throat sliced also giving out, after witnessing all the horror. He dies while drowning in his own blood.

Blaze dusts off his cloak and then continues onward, walking toward the gate of the Police Headquarters.
