I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 87: Scamming
Spell book according to Francois but not to the System.
A new type of item reveals itself. Equipment, Consumables and now Skill Books.
If video game knowledge has taught Blaze anything, then these Skill Books are very valuable.
When was the last time I played a video game again? Must be around the time the console wasn’t sold yet.
Blaze had chances to play video games a lot when he was younger, when his father was still around.
"You wrote this?" Blaze says.
"I’m not that free. These are my collection. You can have it for ten pills each."
"Ten pills? You must be joking!"
Blaze opens the Spellbook of Fables. Inside there is nothing that he can understand. It is written in a language that he isn’t familiar with.
He has never seen this type of letter as well. Most of the popular languages in his world do not have this writing structure.
"Why should I even buy something I can’t even read? What’s the point of these books anyway?"
Blaze acts like a fool, knowing full well the true value of them.
"Heh? You don’t know these, yeah?
Let me introduce to you.
The black book is called the Spellbook of the Death.
The wooden one is the Spellbook of the Forest.
The one with the painting is the Spellbook of Fables.
You already know about demons, so you should understand that there are powers in this world that exist outside the usual superpower.
You ever heard about a thing called a spell? Spells exist too, and these books can help you learn them.
Of course, learning a spell isn’t easy, but you get the gist of it. A free power-up without the danger and pain of consuming an Extraction Pill."
"And you are going to teach me how to read and use these books?"
"Obviously! For a price... Hehe..."
"And you want ten pills for it already? How much do you charge for the learning?"
Francois smiles greedily with his eyes almost closed.
"Not much... Not much... Another ten pills per learning course. What do you think? I will even teach you their language."
"Forget about it! Either you sell me these books for one pill each or you can take them back."
"One pill? I’m not a charity boy. How about this? I sell you the black book for five pills first. Then you can try to learn it with me."
"Do you think I am stupid? I can’t read these books and don’t know how to use them. It is not worth five pills in my eyes."
Francois rolls his eyes around, carefully considering the situation.
"You know what. That sounds reasonable. I will sell you the book of death for two pills. But the learning course will be thirteen pills each.
You can stop attending the course if you don’t like it. A win-win for everyone."
Blaze pretends like he is considering the old man’s offer.
"How about this one? How much is the Fables?"
"That I can sell it to you for five pills. But that course will be twenty pills each. This one I cannot lower the price. Learning this book will not be easy."
"Six pills for the two books. I can pay you fifteen pills for the Spellbook of the Death course."
"Deal!"
Blaze takes out one Extraction Pill from the box and then pushes it back to Francois. He is grinning ear to ear.
The boy may be careful, but he is still young. Muhahahaha!
Francois celebrates internally.
Now that he took the bait. I will be rich! He has no other options than to spend more and more to learn the book. I might lose out on profits for selling the books so cheap, but I make back tenfold!
While Francois is still deep in his thoughts. Blaze takes the two Skill Books and leaves the Pocket Center, leaving him frozen in place.
"Why do I feel like I’ve just been scammed..."
When Blaze steps out of the door, the white space takes over him, and he is transported to a random location inside Akansa.
One of the traits of the Pocket Center. There is only people going in and never a person going out.
Because when they exit through the door, they will be sent to a random safe location within the premises of the city.
The location is never the same. This guarantees a safe retreat for whoever does business with the Pocket Center.
Now that Blaze thinks about it. This organization operates completely differently than any other factions inside Ranas.
It actually thinks about its customers and does its best to make sure they are protected.
Through the memories of the souls and Blaze’s own knowledge, he doesn’t recall that any Giants in Ranas have a foot inside the Pocket Center either.
The Central Bank is neutral because all the factions keep each other in check.
But no one is keeping Pocket Center in check because no one gets a hold of it.
Or at least that is what the ordinary people know. To learn more about this place, Blaze has to become stronger.
And maybe they can even help him to know what has happened to his father.
Blaze equips the Shadow Tattered Cloak and the Tattered Mask. The Wraith is once again walking amongst this world.
Blaze places two of his fingers on his tongue and whistles. The noise screeches through the air and penetrates the telepathic barrier.
Mitsuhiro, running in the night from a mile away, immediately feels Blaze’s call and senses his location.
Only a short moment passes, and Blaze can see the flaming horse dashing through the night. The black smoke floats behind everywhere it goes.
The Ghostblood is burning with intensity. Its eyes glow yellow, and his exposed heart beats inside its ribcage.
"Climb on, Wraith!"
Blaze jumps to the back of Mitsuhiro, and together they ride off, returning to the thirteen doors.
Blaze Singer has done his business. Now it’s the Wraith’s turn.
He can’t keep the Cores that he took in the roof rot in storage. He needs to turn it into strength or wealth.
Doing it as Blaze Singer will definitely raise suspicion. Blaze is only an A-rank ordinary Awakened after all.
But the Wraith is different.
He rides Mitsuhiro directly to the square of the Pocket Center.
Everyone scatters away immediately. People look at him with fear and hesitation.
Some woman even screams and runs away. His appearance really does strike fear into the hearts of men.
Some even recognize Blaze. After all, the news has already delivered headlines about him.
But it isn’t a heroic or positive headline. He is called a terrorist for destroying an ordinary business establishment.
A complete lie made up by the people higher up to smear his name. He can definitely name a few who want to do this. Cavalcante, Vox Entertainment, and even the police.
Unfortunately for them, Blaze doesn’t even care.
He cares if Blaze Singer is slandered, as it will affect people around him.
But the Wraith only knows one thing, and that is vengeance.
All the people who line up in the queues in front of the Pocket Center run away, leaving the space empty.
The street vendor boy from before is still here, looking at the Wraith with admiration.
The news may fool the ignorant and the idiots. But it can never fool the citizens of Ranas.
They know exactly what the Roof was and what has happened. Almost two hundred survivors are out there to tell people the truth of that place.
Blaze drops down from Mitsuhiro, patting his back. This guy really knows how to make an entrance.
Blaze doesn’t say much and turns toward one of the doors to go inside.
The boy from before shouts.
"Are you the Wraith?!"
Blaze turns his back slightly and nods. Then he goes inside the Pocket Center again.
