I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 52: The Cube
[New mission received: The Abyss Layer]
[Mission: The Abyss Layer
Mission Detail: The fourth layer of the Void, the Abyss, holds many secrets. This secret relates to the bunny man that you have encountered. He is extremely dangerous.
Mission Objective:
1. Reach the Abyss Layer and get out alive
2. (Optional) Finds out the true name of the Bunny Man
Mission Reward:
1. Main Reward: 1x Equipment Blindbox (Secret Rare)
2. Sub Reward: 1x Equipment Booster Kit (Ultra Rare)]
A new rarity has been revealed. Blaze already has common, uncommon, rare, and ultra rare items. This secret rare should be the next level.
Each rank determines the amount of Hidden Power the item originally has.
The Grappling Hook (Common) has no Hidden Power. The Tattered Cloak (Uncommon) has one. The Destruction Wand (Rare) and Lantern of the Damned (Rare) both have two.
The Ultra Rare version of the Lantern and the Moonlight Karambit (Ultra Rare) both have three.
Blaze assumes that the Secret Rare item should have four Hidden Powers.
Another mission to look forward to. But it’s going to take a while for Blaze to get there.
He knows the Void has seven layers.
The seventh layer is the Mirror, information that everyone knows.
However, the remaining six layers are a mystery. Even William doesn’t know what the rest of them are.
Now Blaze knows that the fourth layer is called the Abyss.
After today, Blaze is going to need to register his power badge and credit code.
He was expelled from Akansa High, so going back to school isn’t an option. Blaze doesn’t want to also. He has killed many people, returning to a naive, knows-nothing student is going to be hard.
He would rather find a suitable Awakened job to take care of his mother.
There are a lot of things to do, and Blaze won’t be able to travel to the Abyss immediately. He doesn’t know how either.
The Mirror Layer pulls people inside it. How to enter other layers is a complete mystery. Blaze would need to find out about that before he even thinks about going to the Abyss.
Blaze looks down to Nadyr’s soul again. The Bunny Man took a black symbol out of his soul.
This reminds him a lot of his Soul Slave symbol. This could mean that Nadyr was also marked and controlled by the Bunny Man to an extent.
There is maybe more to it, like how Nadyr was always able to survive everything thrown at him.
This Bunny Man is a being that exceeds Blaze’s comprehension. He may even be some kind of spirit or demigod. Those that are always told in the legends.
Luckily, the Bunny Man mistook Blaze for a demon. This can help Blaze to be safe for a while, as the Bunny Man will think twice before finding him.
He won’t have much time, though. His last words were a threat, and Blaze does not take a threat lightly.
Instead of waiting for the Bunny Man to attack, he’d rather strike first.
"I will come for you... eventually." Blaze mumbles.
"But the Bunny spoke about demons. Does this mean demons exist?"
God, angels, demons. Ranas is a world of superheroes and superpowers, but supernatural concepts do not exist.
No one has ever seen a demon before. This world may be much more complicated than Blaze knows.
Blaze is pondering whether he should examine the soul of Nadyr again.
Inside there might be answers and information related to the Bunny Man. But obviously, looking into Nadyr’s soul has its risks.
"Since the bunny man takes the symbol out, it should be safe now."
Blaze will take this risk. He needs more information.
Blaze’s eyes shine yellow again, and he continues to watch the film of Nadyr Brozovic’s life.
The movie keeps on going from where Nadyr was being used as a suicide pawn in missions for the Steel Legion.
His first mission was in the Abyss, where everyone in his platoon died.
Nadyr was almost dead. His last moments were when he looked up in the starless, moonless sky of the Abyss and prayed for any gods, demons, or spirits out there to save him.
Blaze guesses his prayers were answered.
But there isn’t any memory for the rest of the day in Nadyr’s mind. After his prayers, all that’s left is emptiness.
It’s as if someone plucked out these memories from Nadyr’s soul.
The culprit is obviously the Bunny Man.
Blaze can’t find anything else useful on that day. But at least he gets some information on how to enter the Abyss.
The fifth layer of the Void, the Prison, can be accessed directly from the real world.
The Steel Legion went inside the Prison Layer, and then, by using a special machine, they drilled into the fabric of the Prison’s reality and opened a portal through the Abyss.
If this is the only way to travel to the Abyss, Blaze is going to need help from the Steel Legion. He has never seen any machine similar to that at all.
Blaze then continues to watch Nadyr’s memory.
He continued to survive many times, but there were always time skips in Nadyr’s memory from time to time.
Whenever he was dying, the memory became empty for the rest of the day, then the next day continued like nothing had happened.
The time Nadyr stayed at the Steel Legion always has empty parts like this.
It stopped when he left the Legion and went to Akansa.
Even Nadyr didn’t even understand why he survived all those times and what happened in his blackouts.
This had left a bad scar in his mentality and caused him to be extremely afraid of death.
A man that survived all odds is now so scared of dying.
To recover, he began to fall into depravity.
Girls, booze, gambling. Whatever was available to take the edges off. Dying memories haunted him every night, slowly eroding his ego and psyche.
It was nothing else but nightmare after nightmare.
And when all of those no longer had an effect. He turned to drugs, violence, and sickening fetishes.
The gambling caught up to him eventually.
And who does he owe? Giancarlo Cavalcante.
Then the rest of the puzzles fell into place. The Roof was created by Vox.
The girls were being kidnapped to supply a never ending demand for durable sexual partners.
Cavalcante put a good use for an addict like Nadyr and made him the boss of the Roof.
Nadyr was extremely obedient, as long as Cavalcante gave him all the drugs and girls he needed. That is maybe the reason the Iron Knight chose the man.
The rest is history.
However, Blaze can’t find any other information relating to the bunny man at all.
It seems like he is non-existent inside Nadyr’s memory.
"He called you an experiment... What are you actually, Nadyr?"
A question for another day to answer. Blaze now has another important thing to take care of.
Inside Nadyr’s memory, Blaze was able to see where he hid his big stack of money and other valuables.
In Ranas, the currency is digital. But that is not entirely true.
Credits can be stored physically in a zip, a small compact device that can hold information of a specific line of credit.
The zip can be extracted to any credit code and transfer all of its credit into an active Ranas account.
Additionally, zip itself can also be counted as another form of payment.
They are the storage and also the machine to process and receive payment.
It is perfect for criminal activities where the fewer records there are, the better.
But what fascinates Blaze isn’t the huge amount of money that Nadyr is currently holding.
Nadyr has a Diametric Cube, the device that is bigger on the inside and can hold a respectable amount of items with its humble size. A real-life equivalent of the System’s INVENTORY.
