I Only Want To Kill-Chapter 132: Infera
Blaze dives into Zach’s memories. His memories are very similar to Adam’s for the latter half, most are about dirty cops’ business, but with an emphasis on the cult of True Sun.
Compared to Adam, Zach is a much more religious follower. But in the end, their god decided to respond to Adam instead of Zach. An ironic answer to life. The good and devoted one may never be the one who gains the most out of life.
This trait of Zach comes from the fact that he was an orphan. He was raised in a church of Ranas. One of the popular religions happens to be the same orphanage that Hugo and Anton were raised in.
But his original religion did not give Zach the definite answer he wanted in life. It described the world in a vague, karmic sense, which was not what a struggling orphan was attracted to. He disagreed with it but was still dedicated to it.
But everything changed after the ritual. The True Sun cult gave Zach the answer he had always been looking for. The meaning of this world and his responsibility inside it.
He had the definite answer that he was always looking for.
This materialistic realm was simply a board for the gods to play and mortals like him would gain the best by being the pawn for their god. His prayer and question were answered with a new power that changed his life forever.
From an E-Rank struggling Awakened, he became a B-rank, the highest power level in Akansa. One with all the potential for the future.
The story turned out the same as Adam’s memory. Slowly, Zach became more corrupt in life and treated everything like a plus and minus. What differed from Adam was that he did not do it because of selfishness. He did it because his god and his religion wanted it.
Grant more influence and power to their cult so that one day, when their god comes to his plane, he will be the first in line to receive their graceful reward.
All the things Zach gained from his corrupt duty were sent to the True Sun cult. He lived a humble and pragmatic life. Much more humble than his colleagues inside the ACPD. But he was the most feared. Because everyone knows that you couldn’t buy Zach’s loyalty.
His loyalty lies within his religion. The True Sun cult sees this within him and opens more doors for him. One of them was the access to the Sunstone, their special item that can boost the power of the sun inside each of their followers.
Sunstone was not exclusive to the True Sun cult and could also be found in the black market. However, it was much rarer and harder to obtain from the black market than directly from the True Sun cult themselves. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
There was and still is an operating underground church of the True Sun cult inside Akansa City. However, they do not have a fixed location, and usually their followers would have to pass a certain measure to be able to access the True Sun cult.
Blaze won’t be able to find them or get in contact with them without a connection from the inside or someone reaching out to him. Now that the public knows Adam and Zach have died, using them as an entry card may prove difficult for Blaze.
But Blaze doesn’t intend to do it this way anyhow. With Zach’s memory, he can easily identify a contact inside the True Sun cult and form them, he should be able to locate this cult’s location. From then on, all the remaining Sunstone will belong to him.
Blaze has already gained contact information of a True Sun priest from Zach’s memory. He is going to give him a visit later.
Blaze continues to watch Zach’s memories. The rest has nothing spectacular about it, and the only notable thing was the history of the True Sun cult that Adam didn’t care to learn about.
The True Sun is called in its full name the True Sun Empire. It is told to be a land of wealth and luxury that is ruled by the three current gods. However, in the past, it wasn’t called this way. Its original name was only Sun Empire, and it was ruled by one sole Emperor called Infera, the Sun God. This emperor disappeared in the great fight against the Moonsworn Demon, killing the greatest evil in their realm, and died with them.
From then on, the empire broke apart until the three new gods appeared and took over Infera’s Empire.
What makes Blaze surprised is the portrait of the Sun God, Infera, in Zach’s memories, wearing the Solar Armor.
The Solar Armor inside the portrait is very different from the Solar Armor of the Sun Bird, but it can’t be mistaken, they are the same one. Infera also holds the Sun Bird, which looks exactly like Blaze’s Sun Bird.
For some reason, Cerun-Kha has lost the Sun Bird. Or it was never found after the great battle, and Cerun-Kha only made a copy to hold the belief of their followers. The real Sun Bird was within the system all along, and now it has been passed on to Blaze.
This makes Blaze question the true nature of the System. He has never thought too much about it before because its origin is obviously way more mythical than Blaze can figure out for now.
But now, with the information of the Moonsworn Demon. Blaze makes a few connections.
His Moonlight Karambit has the word ’Moon’ inside it. Its power is also sourced from the moon. His father made contact with the demon.
"Could it be that Father has made a deal with a Moonsworn Demon? This led to his bloodline being cursed or marked by some sort. The system can very well be an ancient spell or ritual that takes its form on the descendant of a Blood Oath party.
Then everything makes sense. The System originated from the Moonsworn Demon. The Demon took the Sunbird and gave it to the System... Whatever it actually is. And then the System was passed down to me by my father."
With the knowledge from the Spellbook of the Death, Blaze gains a higher understanding of everything. An anomalous existence like the System can easily be an ancient, powerful spell.
Everything is a hypothesis, and Blaze can’t make sure that his guess is correct. But with everything connected so flawlessly, he can’t help but be wary of the System.
According to the True Sun cult, the last Great Moonsworn Demon was slain by Infera. The rest were only minor demons that couldn’t pose any trouble.
Blaze’s father probably got in contact with these minor demons and gained the Moonlight Karambit from them, also making a deal in the meantime.
"What are you actually, System..."
The System stays silent like it always has.
