I Married the President-Chapter 92: Why Are You Here?
Adrian Quincy withdrew his icy gaze and strode through the crowd, followed by several of his personal bodyguards. He was like a monarch marching to war, his power radiating in every direction.
Even Governor Lockwood dared not obstruct such an imperious figure.
Watching Adrian Quincy leave, Phoebe Lockwood walked up to her father. "Dad, what’s the relationship between Claire Sinclair and Young Master Quincy?"
Governor Lockwood frowned. "Claire Sinclair is Quinn Sinclair’s twin sister. It’s only natural that she knows Young Master Quincy. As for what their relationship is, I’m not sure either."
Phoebe Lockwood asked curiously, "Who is Quinn Sinclair?"
"The Chief Captain of the former Quincy Manor training camp, hailed as the most versatile female bodyguard in history. She made a heroic sacrifice two years ago. The incident caused quite a sensation at the time," Governor Lockwood recounted nonchalantly.
Even though he had only met Quinn Sinclair a few times, he couldn’t help but reveal a look of admiration as he spoke of the woman’s heroic deeds.
Phoebe Lockwood muttered, "So, Claire Sinclair only got to know Young Master Quincy by riding her sister’s coattails. That means my chances are better..."
Governor Lockwood patted her shoulder. "Vera, I’ll tell you more when we get back. For now, go and prepare yourself. The reception for President Helmanro is your chance to make a name for yourself. Seize it."
Phoebe Lockwood nodded emphatically. "Don’t worry, Dad. I won’t let you down!"
...
Claire Sinclair followed Nancy Lockwood into a quiet reception room. A small table was adorned with a welcoming pine bonsai, flanked by two plates of specialty snacks from Aridia.
Nancy Lockwood stood at the door and explained briefly, "Mrs. Hale is allergic to perfume, so she rarely travels with President Helmanro. She said she wanted to meet you alone this time, probably to talk about Quinn. Quinn saved Little Prince Hale’s life abroad years ago, so there’s no need for you to be nervous in a bit. Just be sincere, and there’s nothing to be afraid of."
’She really is one of Adrian Quincy’s people,’ Claire thought. ’Even the way she talks sounds like something out of a self-help book.’
Claire Sinclair nodded. "Okay."
Nancy Lockwood added, "One more thing. Your meeting with Mrs. Hale is private. You can’t tell anyone about it, and you must not speak carelessly."
"I understand."
Although Claire Sinclair hadn’t been in many high-profile situations, she knew how to conduct herself. She understood what to say and what not to say; she had a line in her mind she wouldn’t cross.
Having said what needed to be said, Nancy Lockwood offered a few last words of encouragement and left.
Claire Sinclair was left alone in the reception room.
Claire waited, bored. She wanted to play on her phone but didn’t dare, fearing Mrs. Hale might walk in at any moment. It would be terribly impolite.
She wasn’t sure how much time had passed before there was finally a sound from outside the door.
Claire immediately stood up. The door opened just as she reached it. She thought it was Mrs. Hale, but it wasn’t.
Adrian Quincy pushed the door open and stepped inside, closing it behind him.
"What are you doing here?" Claire asked in surprise.
’Shouldn’t he be incredibly busy at a time like this?’
Without a word, Adrian Quincy pinned her against the wall, lowered his head, and captured her lips in a heated kiss...
Claire’s mind went blank. ’What is he doing?’
She only snapped out of it when his tongue invaded her mouth, and she immediately started to struggle.
Adrian Quincy pulled away abruptly, and she instantly felt a pang of disappointment. The vulnerable look in her eyes stirred a wave of tenderness in him, and he raised his hand to stroke her red lips.
"I came to give you some moral support. Are you nervous?"
"Uh... a little."
’Coming here just to give me moral support... How thoughtful.’
Claire had never known he had such a considerate side to him. She was overwhelmed, in a good way.
