I Level Up Dragons with My Evolution System-Chapter 76: Leveling Up in the Wind Dungeon (2)
"What was that?" Aurora asked, approaching the Caterpillar floating around Edward. "Did it suddenly grow?"
In front of Edward’s eyes were various system messages.
[Wind Caterpillar has risen to Level 5.]
[You have received +1 Strength. +1 Agility. +1 Dexterity. +1 Elemental Resistance.]
"It’s leveled up," he said.
His stats were going up... but he still needed more.
One level wasn’t enough. "Let’s keep going deeper," he replied.
His initial mission was to reach level 10, but he understood that it was too difficult to level up in a dungeon without clearing it all to gain a few levels.
He would have to settle for raising it a little, and if he managed to get it to level 10, he would be grateful.
"Did it get stronger?" Aurora asked.
"Well, there’s a noticeable difference," he replied affirmatively. "It’s just that I don’t understand its ability at this stage. It’s not like fire."
"What’s the one with fire?" she asked, curious.
"Devour fire."
Aurora blinked in shock a couple of times. "Really?"
"It’s not what you think. Although it is devouring, it is severely limited." Edward smiled. "I don’t quite understand it myself; it seems to have something to do with destabilizing or perhaps manipulating the wind, but I can’t quite grasp it."
"I see..." Aurora nodded. "Caterpillars don’t usually have abilities; they just tend to give a little strength. But you’re right, I’ve seen it make some curious movements."
"Right, since your main attribute is wind, can you see the remnants of spirituality?"
"Of course, I feel like its movements are familiar."
"Control Group?" Edward asked, surprised. "Could it be that its ability is to use the wind to destabilize enemies?"
"It’s likely... That would explain why the hunt has been easier."
Edward nodded thoughtfully. After a moment, however, he shook his head, and they both continued deeper into the dungeon.
The beasts were getting stronger, albeit to a lesser extent. They reached a point where they were facing level 7 and 8 beasts, which gave them a good amount of experience, although it was still half or less than what a cursed beast would give them.
[Wind Caterpillar has reached Level 8.]
[You have...]
Edward frowned as he killed the last beast in the area, just before a large door that divided the area.
"Is this the boss’s room?"
"Yes." Aurora confirmed, as she took several things from the hawks they had just killed.
The core and some important organs, such as the heart. As she did so, and her hand was stained red with the falcons’ blood, she touched something that gave her an electric shock.
Unconsciously, she quickly withdrew her hand, though her eyes sparkled with interest. "It has an elemental core," she said in shock.
"Really?" Edward quickly turned to look at the body.
She nodded and pulled out a dagger to quickly cut open the bird’s body. In a matter of seconds, all the flesh, bones, and blood were removed.
In the middle, next to the heart that was strangely large for the size of the beast, was a core similar to beast cores, but brimming with wind-type spiritual energy.
"There really is one!" Edward approached and looked at it carefully as Aurora picked it up with a rag.
His caterpillar suddenly went into a frenzy when it saw it and flew quickly toward it, a huge mouth open, something that seemed impossible with its small body.
Edward moved quickly and put it away...
KIII
He heard the clear complaint inside him... but this was an elemental core. It was extremely valuable to Beast Masters, especially those who are close to achieving evolution.
They possess powerful elemental power, one of the most sought-after resources for beast cultivation. He understood that if he gave it to his little caterpillar, it would surely level up, but that would be foolish when it could level up anytime and very easily.
For him, it wasn’t as valuable a treasure as it was for Aurora. And the look of joy on her face was proof of that.
She couldn’t level up; she depended on valuable resources like these to help her beast gain power and evolve, so it was an invaluable resource.
"Are you going to give it at it all at once?" Edward asked.
She shook her head, smiling broadly and staring intently at the Elemental Core. "No. I have to take advantage of the fact that my last mission gave me one, and with this one, I have two. Although the level isn’t the same, if I manage to gather another one and give them to it at the same time, I’m sure I can force it to evolve... Of course, if I buy other resources of lesser value." She replied.
"I understand." He then looked at the boss’s room. "Then let’s go. If we’re lucky, we might find one in the boss’s room." He laughed.
"That would be aiming too high, but I’ll trust your words to bring us luck," she replied and stored the elemental core in her storage ring.
Then she approached the door and pushed it open. "Let’s go. Be careful with the ceiling, try to create a flame that’s hard to extinguish, so we can see, we’ll need it against this bastard."
Edward drew his sword once more and summoned his Fire Butterfly. He made a strange sign to it, and it seemed to understand him.
When the door was open, the butterfly slipped through the cracks, flying like a normal butterfly, and began to ascend...
On the ground, Edward and Aurora entered the room.
It was enormous. There was no lighting whatsoever, but the wind moving through the room hit them from all angles, blowing their hair and clothes around at will.
It was much taller than it was long and had huge man-made pillars supporting the ceiling. When they entered, the door behind them closed.
"Do Hawks act without sight?" Edward asked, in shock.
"This one does. For starters, the Enduring Wind Hawk is a naturally blind beast."
"Really?" Edward was surprised. "How does it attack, then?"
"Well... he’s naturally blind." She laughed. "But this wind you feel is his power. It hits us from all sides because he’s trying to understand us and figure out how to attack."
"I see." Edward nodded and shrugged. "Time to find out where you are, little one," he whispered.
"Veil of Fiery Smoke," he whispered and cast a fire spell above him.
Puff—
A strange and peculiar smoke of fire suddenly lit up the room. It was like a strange cloud with rays of sunlight coming out from behind it as it rose.
The room was exposed... along with a lot of other things.
"W-what?!" Aurora was shocked, looking at how everything around them was filled with giant eggs...
