Chapter 70: Recording of Identities

He walked over to the main chair, but didn’t sit down. With his makeshift crutches, he began tapping the floor around him. He tapped approximately 34 clay tiles before stopping. There, he moved his crutch diagonally three tiles down and began counting once more...

Scylas stared at him... no one knew what was going through his mind.

Edward already understood what he was doing, although he didn’t really understand what was going to happen. He let him work.

Silas took longer this time. The room was huge, and he had to count more than a thousand stone tiles.

He stopped at one of the corners of the room. Some dust fell on him. "The explosions have weakened the mansion..." he whispered.

In fact, if you looked closely at the walls, you would notice that they were broken. He still didn’t know where these guys had placed the explosives, but Edward mentioned that it was simply to prevent reinforcements from entering.

He tapped three times on a small part of the wall that was practically unrecognizable to the naked eye and smiled. "Can you blow this up here?" he asked.

Edward looked at Lander and they both nodded, changing places.

Edward walked slowly between the guards. They didn’t dare move... they couldn’t.

Most of them were ordinary people, trained with fervor. They were useless against beast masters.

Unless... They looked at Scylas. But he remained still.

Edward took out a piece of metal and hit the wall a few times, until the spot was destroyed. ’This guy has a lot of secrets,’ Edward thought.

Although technically the entire mansion was built of rock, some of the rocks were hollow, such as those in the secret doors or this wall.

When the rock was destroyed, it exposed a hollowed-out half-rock. "Destroy over there, down below too," Silas said.

Edward obeyed, although the latter was extremely difficult. That one was not hollowed out, so the destruction was complex... even so, as soon as he did it, Silas thanked him and reached his hand in there.

Suddenly, a stream of energy ran through Silas’s arm, and at the same time, a lot of spiritual energy was expelled from there...

Silas was pushed back, and Edward had to grab him quickly and protect himself.

"This is..." Edward noticed that spiritual energy was also being expelled from other areas, breaking the wall in an instant and connecting with each other.

Everyone was in shock. The room darkened slightly as the spiritual energy finished covering all the walls.

All of this came from more than 18 magical tools, strategically arranged to cover the entire room.

They were similar to the previous tools... but with very different functions.

These did not open something secret, but rather emitted information, even through images.

Silas smiled when he saw this appear and soon began to laugh out loud. He raised both hands to the sides and shouted, "Witness the wonder of the Great Tool Maker! Recording of Identities!" His expression reflected madness.

Visible scenes and writings were reproduced in the spiritual energy. At the same time, the walls behind the spiritual energy "melted." It looked as if they were peeling off in layers, but in reality... written scrolls were falling to the ground.

Scylas looked at this and clenched his hands. His body trembled. "This... damn bastard." Finding out that what he had been searching for for 30 years was in the room he had used so much was a blow to his pride.

The number of scenes shown through that strange spiritual energy, as if it were a recorder of the earth, left Edward in shock.

He had heard that magic in this world had advanced greatly thanks to the Tool Makers, but did these kinds of tools also exist?

’Tools capable of recording...’ Although they did not record voice, it was enough to see the faces and understand the scenes.

Here, a lot of scenes from 30 years ago to today were shown. Of course, there were many unnecessary scenes, but there were also too many shocking scenes.

"This... How does it work?" Edward couldn’t help but ask Silas.

Silas replied, almost reverently, "The tools were created by your father, Young Master Lux. I don’t know exactly how they work, but they record information in images and letters. Everything that has happened here, from Scylas’ betrayal that day when I was stabbed in the back, to this very day, has been recorded."

"My father? That can’t be..."

"Don’t bother asking... I can’t answer you right now," Silas replied. "The information about him is not something I can reveal just like that."

With that, Silas stopped responding. He was determined, for despite Edward’s questions, he remained silent.

Edward was forced to back down and let the scene continue.

It took a while to come to an end, but when it did, Silas let out a crazy laugh.

"Although my downfall came sooner than expected, as long as I can kill all these traitors, I will gladly accept it!"

His words spread further, cursing traitors... The butler, Scylas, every traitor who had opposed him. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Edward didn’t stop him, letting him have his moment of frenzy, because he deserved it.

He simply stepped forward and grabbed several of the scrolls that had been burned by Scylas but were rewritten by this tool, holding them in his hand.

"I wanted to hope that some of you would be saved," he said with a wry smile. "It seems that won’t be possible. Don’t try to resist, death will come sooner or later, and perhaps killing you now is better than falling into the hands of our leaders. So... die, please."

He had seen the number of misdeeds each of them had committed. Murder seemed to be the least of them all. That’s why he had a cold heart, and finally his heart was set on killing everyone who had ever participated in Scylas’ missions.

"Heh, heh." Suddenly, a laugh full of rage came out of Scylas’ mouth, attracting attention. "I still can’t understand what the hell has happened here..." He muttered.

He had many questions... but he didn’t ask them. He looked at Silas and sneered. "My dear brother... you’re a mess."

Silas grabbed one of his crutches and walked toward him. "At least I won’t die before you."

"Heh, heh, heh... You’re very confident, dear brother."

Silas frowned. "Use whatever tricks you have to use... but it seems that even your contacts have betrayed you."

"Betrayal..." Scylas let out a cry of pain as he felt a dagger pierce his side. He looked coldly at the young man dressed in black beside him and noticed a terrifying coldness that he had not seen in any of the other faces. He trembled.

But he quickly looked away to look at Silas. "...It’s a daily occurrence on the streets of this world," he continued. "Twenty-five years... And you still don’t understand?"

Finally, Scylas revealed a sinister smile and his hand rushed inside his clothes. "If I must die, let you all die with me!" he roared and squeezed a magical tool until it shattered.

Silas trembled. "Bastard...!" he roared and tried to approach, even Arnold hesitated, but Edward and Aurora smiled coldly.

Nothing happened.

"You don’t seem to understand, Scylas Merchant. When the Kingdom moves... Do you think there will be any loose ends?" Edward sneered. "Your magic explosives were easy to discover... Too easy." Although the only reason he discovered them was because they used fire, and his cute little butterfly was desperate to eat it.

Scylas revealed a look of perplexity and fear... Especially when he saw the look of madness in Silas’ eyes...

"I-I see... those explosions..." Scylas trembled terribly as he understood what had happened...
