I Level Up Dragons with My Evolution System-Chapter 54: Three Mistakes
"Don’t you know?" He sighed and grabbed his forehead. "I forgot. How would a brute who only knows how to swing a sword know that?"
Edward frowned...
Kael spoke again. "When you learn magic, synchrony with the beast is crucial, and it must be in front of you if you want to achieve it. They call it Resonance Synchrony... How could you not know that?" He shook his head. "No wonder you can barely attempt to learn the weakest type of magic, and on top of that, you still failed."
Edward nodded slightly. ’Ah, I see. That’s why I had to synchronize with the butterfly first and couldn’t do it through the others.’
That explained a lot... But he couldn’t take his butterfly outside.
"Professor, have you ever seen a Master of Multiple Beasts learn magic?" Edward asked suddenly, with genuine curiosity.
"What does that have to do with what we’re talking about?" Kael asked with a grunt, but seeing that Edward didn’t respond and that he honestly wanted to know, he assumed that he wanted to ask him about some magical topic.
"How am I going to see it? The last time one appeared was like 300 or 500 years ago," he replied.
Edward nodded slightly. "Then why are you meddling in my affairs? As you said, you’ve never seen a Master of Multiple Beasts learn magic, which means I’m the first. You should know that watching me learn magic will be a whole new world for you. I may not be talented, but I know what I’m doing."
"..." Kael was speechless...
It was the same for all the students.
How bold! He just told Kael Vorren that he was a busybody!
The students couldn’t help but watch this with genuine interest. Some people even began to see Edward in a new light.
He wasn’t a talented student like Robert, but his answers were good, and he hadn’t said anything worthless. Everything made sense and was logical.
More importantly, especially for the non-talented, he had very easily wrapped the obnoxious and bossy Kael Vorren up and made him fall into his trap!
Kael was furious. His eyes turned dangerous.
Knock, knock, knock. Just then, the door to the shooting range rang. "Instructor Vorren, the Director is calling for you!" A voice came from the other side.
Although Kael wanted to vent his anger at that moment, he couldn’t ignore that call.
"I’ll be back in a moment. Continue," he said, trying to swallow his anger, and left.
The students immediately began to murmur about what had happened. Some shot Edward questioning looks, others were slightly angry.
Edward ignored everyone; he had simply been looking for a way not to reveal his butterfly... if that ended up embarrassing the professor, it meant he had abused his status as one.
.
He had begun to understand why they compared this to a Skill Tree in an RPG game... but he was hurt inside.
He discreetly wiped the corner of his mouth to clean up some blood that was coming out. He smiled slightly. It was only a small spark he managed to throw, but it had already hurt him... magic was amazing.
He refocused on feeling that affinity. After the first time, the second time was easy to do. Recognizing the flow was even easier, as it was those energies that were running.
Now, trying to use it was the problem, but at the same time, the solution.
When he used it before, he was able to identify several things. The first was that the intention of fire magic was not to "burn," but to "consume energy." It wanted to consume energy in order to activate itself, as that was its fuel.
The second thing was that, when trying to activate it, the magic consumed as much energy as he allowed it to. He had to learn to regulate it for each spell. After all, he had problems inside himself because he let it consume too much energy. Although it was a small spell, it was magic and very peculiar.
Its name was "Terminal Spark" and it had ridiculous attributes for such a low-level magic. He had to admit that his Fire Caterpillar, now a Butterfly, was no ordinary beast, as the magic that allowed it to learn was a very frightening one.
The third point is the most important: he understood where the point of failure was, and it had three.
Excessive energy consumption, to the point that he could barely cast five more spells of that type if he continued like this. Maintaining concentration on the magic is crucial so that it doesn’t break; he lost it before because he noticed Kael was in front of him. And the third mistake is that he must control the personality of his fire.
’I must understand affinity better,’ he concluded.
With that in mind, he resumed his magical training. He was only in the first stage... he still had three more to go.
-
The next day, he visited the training ground alone, taking advantage of the fact that he had no classes today, and approached the main office.
There were several assistants and a couple of teachers hanging around, and he approached one of the assistants.
"Sir, could you assign me a private room?" Edward asked, placing a token on the table.
The assistant looked up. ’Three-star student?’ He nodded slightly, a little surprised.
"Your name?" The assistant quickly grabbed a registration scroll and a pen.
"Edward Lux," he replied.
The assistant quickly began to write, but froze halfway through and looked up. "Edward Lux? Are you the new student Lux?" he asked.
Edward nodded. "I am. Why?"
The assistant frowned slightly and stood up. "Wait a moment," he said, before entering the back door.
Edward stood there, confusion written in his face. It didn’t take long for the assistant to return, this time with another person behind him.
"Are you that Lux?" the man asked strangely.
"I am, sir. New student, 3-star."
"Hmm." The man grabbed the pen and crossed out the entire line, before rolling up the parchment. "I’m sorry, student Lux. We have been ordered to close your entry to the training camp indefinitely," he replied, before turning to go back into his office.
Edward was shocked. "Wait," he said quickly. "What happened? Did you mistake me for someone else?" he asked.
He was genuinely surprised.
The man looked at him and shrugged. "No, the order was correct. Edward Lux cannot enter the training ground unless it is to attend classes. Please leave and do not disturb my subordinates, or I will have to use force."
