I have a wildlife zoo-Chapter 610 - 609: The Wolves Frolic
Tang Xiaoxin and her friends, aiming for a better view, chased after the little wolf up to the observation tower, which boasts the most expansive vista of the wolf exhibit, with the other two viewing points located beside the waterfall and in front of a pond.
There were quite a few visitors around here.
Watching the playful wolf pack, especially Little Black, they couldn’t contain their laughter, "Haha, why does this wolf look so silly? It even sticks out its tongue when it runs!"
"I see it now, it’s got a Husky in its soul!"
Tang Xiaoxin and Qian Keke squeezed in, leaned on the railing, and laughed until their mouths couldn’t close, "This little wolf seems just like its dad, Charcoal! Not only is it all black, but it also seems kind of derpy."
"The little wolves are having so much fun!"
Little Black made its way toward the waterfall, and as it approached the corner, it hunkered down, scuffed the lawn with its paws, and swung its tail, drifting around the bend like an AE86 with style.
The gaze that floated up exuded an air of "wisdom", and just looking at its expression made you want to laugh. Coupled with its wriggling body and the corners of its mouth pulled back, it oozed a comedic charm.
One of its little pals seemed to be tired from the running and stopped.
Doudou burst out from the side, catching up with Little Black! Up ahead, Yarn Ball was waiting to intercept.
The two adult wolves surrounded Little Black, bumping into it, vying for its bone. Of course, as the bigger wolves, they knew the limits of play and controlled their strength! Otherwise, snatching it away in one go would have been bullying, not playing.
Little Black was flopped over, joyfully rolling on the ground, raising its paws to scrap with Doudou.
The wolf pack engaged in a fierce battle over the bone!
Yarn Ball seized the bone and was feeling triumphant when it was contested by the little wolves once more, losing it in the chaotic fight.
With several little wolves tugging at its legs and biting its fur, it could only watch helplessly as the cunning Doudou snatched away the bone.
The older fellows were also caught up in the excitement, joining in the game!
With age, their energy wasn’t as boundless as the young ones, relying more on their honed skills and experience.
Torn Ear, like a basketball guard on the court, jogged left and right ahead, making deceptive movements to intercept Doudou.
Even though Doudou broke past, it was quickly caught up by another little wolf, who snatched away the bone.
Lame Leg lay on a large stone, watching the wolves romp. It seemed to want to join in when it stood up but then lay down again.
Lame Leg’s feet were already not very agile due to past injuries, and it was old. This year, its forehead and face sprouted more lackluster white hairs, resembling an elderly person’s silver hair. Its loose skin told tales of the passage of time.
Watching the young wolves play, Lame Leg slowly closed its eyes and quietly fell asleep.
In its dreams, perhaps it revisited its own youth, back when it had a healthy body, not only fast on its feet but also with keen eyesight that could spot things from far away.
However, during its prime, the environment wasn’t as nice as the wolf exhibit here, as most of its time was spent on the cement floor of an iron cage.
Tang Xiaoxin thought, wolves really know how to entertain themselves!
A single bone could bring them so much joy, and even the adult wolves would join in, laying aside their elder status and playing without any pretense.
In the process of playing, their emotions were also invisibly strengthened. Perhaps this was why wolf packs could be so united and cooperative!
The wolves frolicked and chased each other wildly, from the waterfall up to the hillside!
Charcoal and Mizzle were lying on the ground, nuzzling and cuddling affectionately, when a pack of wolves "whooshed" past them and then "whooshed" back again, clamoring and fighting noisily for the bone.
The other wolves were somewhat restrained, not daring to disturb Charcoal and Mizzle, but the little ones had no such inhibitions!
After all, they were their parents.
They ran straight past Charcoal and Mizzle, with Little Black stepping on Charcoal’s face on the way over and then stepping on Mizzle’s bottom on the way back.
Charcoal was doting on Mizzle when suddenly his face got stepped on. He immediately sat up from the ground, frowning and widening his eyes, "Huh? What happened?"
Looking left and right, all he saw was the back of Little Black as he joyfully wagged his tail and ran away!
Mizzle, having been stepped on, looked somewhat displeased.
Seeing that the little wolves had run back, she blocked their path and gave them a stern look before howling sharply!
Alright, kids, playtime is over!
The little wolves, having chased each other wildly for a while, were also quite tired and panting heavily!
Seeing their mother stand up to stop them, they all paused, lying down on the grass, their bodies rising and falling as they began to rest.
Especially Little Black, knowing he’d played a bit too wildly, was somewhat afraid of Mizzle’s stern look. He quickly turned his head away, panting and sticking out his tongue, sneakily glancing at Mizzle from the corner of his eye, pretending to be clueless.
Although dad was bigger and stronger, mom still held the highest status in the family!
Charcoal nibbled on Mizzle’s cheek, breaking the serious atmosphere.
As if to say, come on now, don’t be so hard on the kids.
Seeing his children laying around, he suddenly felt playful. Tilting his neck back, he raised his head and let out a deep and majestic howling sound.
"Awooo—"
Mizzle joined in the howling, her voice clear and melodious, "Awooo~~"
All the wolves in the wolf exhibit, no matter where they were, lifted their heads and began to howl along.
After howling, the little wolves lay on the ground, leaning against one another, and quickly fell into a deep sleep!
The sight was very warm and harmonious.
Little Black, although goofy when playing, looked quite adorable now with his paws cushioned underneath, his chin resting on his paws, his ears drooping to the sides, and his eyes peacefully closed in slumber.
"Goodbye! Sleep well!"
"We’ll come and see you again next time!"
Tang Xiaoxin and her friends left the wolf exhibit when they saw the pack beginning to rest.
...
In the morning, after having seen the gibbon, they strolled through Crane Pavilion and Waterfowl Lake to see the swans with their young.
By the time they had walked around the predator exhibition area, it was nearly noon.
Before going to eat, they went to the plateau exhibition area, planning to visit the plump and adorable Pallas’s cat!
After searching for a long time among the crevices of the rocks in the activity area, they couldn’t catch a glimpse of the Pallas’s cat.
Questioning the animal keeper, they were told that the cats were all in the back shelter. Great Saint had come out to play for a while in the morning, and Yuanxiao had stayed inside the whole day, just dozing off in the cat nest.
The Pallas’s cat was now the most mysterious creature in the zoo, seen even less often than the jaguar. It was possible to visit several times without catching sight of one.
Diana had become more comfortable with her surroundings, and she was now coming out to move about far more often.
Additionally, a normally colored jaguar had been introduced from another zoo, not as shy and cautious, not deliberately hiding, but boldly lying on its perch, observing the visitors.
The two young girls were a bit disappointed not to see the Pallas’s cat and could only head to the zoo restaurant for now, to have lunch and rest for a while.
