I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl-Chapter 76 – The Trail I Leave Behind
Chapter 76: Chapter 76 – The Trail I Leave Behind
Three days had passed since my troops arrived at Celestine’s base.
It took that long to bring this place back to life—not just functionally, but psychologically. Soldiers, engineers, even the rescued children gradually began to get used to the presence of the Witches and Hunters. They were no longer just "smart zombies," but were now seen as colleagues—even protectors.
Celestine did her part extraordinarily well. She personally walked the grounds, spoke with every group, and explained that my subordinates were under my control and posed no threat. Slowly, fear turned into respect—or at least tolerance.
The third day, in the morning.
I stood on the main balcony of the base, enjoying the breeze while watching the sun rise behind the ruins of crumbled buildings. Beside me, Celestine joined with two cups of hot tea. Its aroma was soothing, calming.
"It’s time, isn’t it?" she asked softly.
I nodded, glancing at the warm liquid before taking a small sip. "I’ve been away from my territory too long. Tyrant can be trusted, but he’s not exactly a... gentle leader."
Celestine gave a faint smile. "You calling Tyrant ’not gentle’ sounds almost like a compliment."
I chuckled. "Depends on your perspective."
Silence followed. The morning wind played with Celestine’s silver hair and my own flowing black strands.
"You know," she finally said, "I’m not that close to many people. But with you... it just feels right."
I looked at her. Our eyes met.
"I feel the same," I replied. "If the world were different... maybe we could’ve been travel companions."
"Too bad our world is full of monsters and rubble."
"At least we can laugh at it together."
We laughed softly. But in the end, I had to leave.
After saying my farewells—some even looked at me like a veteran general departing for war—I left the base with my nine subordinates, Witches and Hunters, in a small V-formation. I didn’t use Void Step. I wanted to savor this journey, even if just for a moment.
WHOOSH! – The wind sliced around us as we sped through the ruins of the city.
Cracked roads and collapsed buildings passed beneath us. The Witches hovered slightly above the ground, their white dresses fluttering gently. The Hunters dashed like shadows, slipping between light and dark. I ran at the center, wrapped in silence broken only by the wind.
But the peace didn’t last long.
BOOM! ROAARRRRR!!!
A loud explosion and a long roar shook the sky in the distance. My steps halted, and my subordinates stopped instantly. Black smoke rose from the northwest, followed by screams and the shattering of weaponry.
"Another portal..." I muttered.
I leapt atop a nearby ruined building. From its crumbled rooftop, I could see the chaotic battlefield in the distance—a city nearly burned down, filled with debris and signs of battle.
And in the middle of it... a Lycanthrope over two meters tall, with silvery-gray fur glinting in the light. Its eyes glowed red, and its large claws still dripped with blood.
Around it were several Werewolves—smaller, but still terrifying. They were tearing apart still-moving victims, roaring as they crushed vehicles.
"New target."
I jumped down.
"Battle formation. Witches, focus on area magic and battlefield control. Hunters, eliminate the Werewolves one by one. Don’t fight alone."
Without a word, they moved.
TAP TAP TAP! – Footsteps raced toward the enemy.
One of the Witches raised her hand.
FWOOOM
A blast of dark magic surged from her palm, slamming into a Werewolf and launching it into a wall. A Hunter immediately leapt in, her sharp claws piercing the beast’s neck with precision. Black blood sprayed.
"GRAARRRHHH!!!" Another Werewolf lunged from the right, charging at a Witch.
But before it could touch her, a Hunter appeared behind it and—
SHRRK!
Claws pierced the Werewolf’s belly from behind.
I dashed into the center of the battlefield. Two Werewolves tried to block me.
BOOM!
I stomped the ground hard, creating a small shockwave. One Werewolf was flung away, the other managed to slash at me—but I ducked and countered with my chain claws, summoned from thin air like whips from hell.
ZING! SHLAAKK!!
Blood sprayed. The chain claw sliced its body from shoulder to waist.
I didn’t stop. I leapt over a burning car, dodged falling debris, and finally faced the Lycanthrope—the massive beast now turning its attention to me.
"GRUUAAARRHHHHH!!" it roared loudly, sending gusts of wind.
THUD! THUD! THUD! It advanced with heavy steps.
I raised my hand. The chain claws swirled in the air, forming a vortex.
"Come to me..."
We fought.
The battle was brutal.
The Lycanthrope was far faster than it looked. It leapt, slashed, and struck with force equal to a large truck. Every missed punch shattered asphalt. I weaved, dove, countered with chain claws and death magic.
CLANG! CRACK! FWOOOSH!
We exchanged blows. The chains coiled around the Lycan, but he shattered them with insane strength. He clawed my arm, I responded with a blast of Death Aura straight to his face. Half his face burned, but he still stood.
The Hunters and Witches held off the remaining Werewolves. Some Witches began using Dark Bind, trapping the enemy’s legs. Hunters leapt from rooftops, slaying them one by one.
Back to the Lycanthrope—I decided to end this.
I unleashed more power. A dark aura enveloped me like thick mist.
"No more playing."
I snapped my fingers.
CLACK! Twelve abyssal chains materialized in the air, piercing the Lycan’s body one after another. Its regeneration was strong, but this time, the chains pulsed with Nether Flame, burning both its heart and mind.
"I am the Queen of Zombie. Return to your grave."
KRAAAKK!!
With one final pull, I ripped its body in two. Blood and flesh flew, but I stood calmly in the rain of gore.
Once all the Werewolves and the Lycanthrope were dead, the Witches incinerated their corpses with thick purple magic. The air reeked of char and burning flesh.
The Hunters swept the area, ensuring nothing remained.
I stood in the middle of the ruined city. Silent. Still.
But amidst the destruction, I looked to the sky—then continued onward.
I muttered. "And I’m not done yet."
The Witches and Hunters followed behind, our footsteps leaving a trail on the dusty ground.
