I Evolve By Collecting Infinite Spirits-Chapter 53: Crystal Extraction
Sin was still in a hidden part of the cove to anyone who was near the entrance.
Just then, he heard a familiar voice echo through the chamber: "Sin! Kid! We will be back with the other Hunters! Just wait here!"
’Thurfos? He stayed?’ Sin was slightly surprised, not thinking anyone would have the balls or care to stay around any longer than they needed to.
"W-wait!" Sin screamed from his hidden spot, "Don’t send anyone! This thing is too strong... get reinforcements from the city! Don’t worry... I think I’ll be fine."
Sin hoped this would work, as it would give him a perfect excuse to have the dungeon all to himself.
"Are you sure!? Just how powerful is the beast!?" Thurfos replied in a rush.
"It defeated the leader of that Hunter group... in a single blow," Sin replied, the gravity of his words sinking into Thurfos’ brain.
"S-seriously?" Thurfos simply muttered, turning, "Wait here... I will go get reinforcements..." He sprinted out of the dungeon.
Sin waited for a few seconds as Thurfos’ footsteps slowly disappeared into the distance.
He waited for a few more minutes, making sure everyone had left.
After that, he sent Dra’res outside of the dungeon to scout for anyone, just in case the other Hunters didn’t listen to what Sin told Thurfos to say.
Dra’res returned swiftly with good news, "The coast is clear, my liege."
Sin nodded, "Good... now begin carrying crystals. We have probably around an hour or two to move everything out of here before they return."
Sin also summoned Zydrax. He made the drake carry as many crystals as he could in his large mouth.
Sin also got as much as he could in his clothing, riding Zydrax out of the dungeon.
Dra’res was ordered to leave all of the crystals he gathered right outside the dungeon.
There, Zydrax and Sin would transfer the load to a nearby area that Sin had chosen.
It was a small cave--most likely an abandoned bear cave. These types of small caves and crevices were quite common, but Sin was worried it was a bit too obvious.
’It will barely fit the crystals... I will need to go nonstop to transport it all back into the city. And finding people who will be willing and able to buy such a big supply in bulk will also be an issue. I’m not like Surfin, a lord, who has every connection he could ever want.’
There was a lot of thinking Sin wanted to do, but he needed to move and move quick.
Leaving the complicated stuff for his future self, he and his Spirits began to work tirelessly--moving the Spirit Crystals out of the dungeon and into the bear cave without any rest or delay.
In the end, Sin was totally out of breath. He was already drained from mining for multiple hours, and without any carbohydrates or food to quickly replenish his system, he was almost out of it.
He ordered Zydrax to take out the Hunter inside the dungeon, and also to smash the hell out of the entire place while he was at it.
Zydrax rampaged through the ruins, smashing the walls and floors with his tail.
Dra’res was ordered to collect all of the large debris--moving it to the entrance until it was all completely blocked off.
Sin was extra careful, making sure to also totally block off the cave part of the dungeon as well.
Just as Sin finished all of this, he fell onto his back right outside the dungeon entrance.
He was panting heavily, his body at its limit.
Just then, he heard multiple horse hooves trotting closer from the distance. He immediately unsummoned both Dra’res and Zydrax on hearing this.
"There he is!" A voice sounded, "He’s alive!" Thurfos screamed, a smile jumping onto his face.
He was inside a carriage along with all of the other ore collectors.
In another carriage, there was a separate team of Hunters. Most likely, these were the ones that Thurfos managed to recruit.
With the status of this dungeon being owned by Lord Surfin, many Hunters agreed to tag along with ease.
The chance of getting recognized by the lord wasn’t one that many were willing to give up.
Upon arrival, however, all of the Hunters were disappointed to find that Sin was completely out of danger.
The Hunters and ore collectors stood above Sin.
"Sin! Are you alright? Sit up..." Thurfos knelt beside the young man, helping him up to a seated position.
"Yeah..." Sin acted more tired than he was.
"So... what happened? It looks like the entrance was destroyed..." Thurfos said, confused at the situation. He was trying to piece things together as he went.
"I... don’t remember," Sin replied.
"What? What do you mean?" Thurfos retorted with confusion.
"The ogre... it knocked me unconscious instantly. After that, all I remember was the feeling of being carried by someone. Someone smaller than an ogre... almost like a human."
Thurfos and the others exchanged quick glances, listening closely as Sin continued, "After that, I woke up here..."
There was a long moment of silence. No one knew what to make of all this.
Finally, one of the Hunters stepped forward. It was a woman who was B-Rank.
"I can not accept this! You’re telling me that the dungeon is blocked off and you conveniently don’t remember how?" She was more suspicious of the situation than the rest.
Another voice unexpectedly intervened: "Trust that young man." The leader of the last group of Hunters began walking towards Sin and the others.
’Oh? Already awake after Dra’res’ slam?’ Sin mused as he saw the man.
"Trust him?" The lady Hunter exclaimed, "Why should I? Just because you are the leading authority in this quest does not mean you know--"
"Silence, woman!" The Hunter leader exclaimed, as though he was angry.
Sin raised a brow, ’Why the hell is he fighting for me this hard?’
"This young man saved me. He informed me of that ogre, which gave me a split second to activate my protection veil. Without that, I might not have survived at all. I want no blame or hardship placed on him... by anyone!" The leader shouted, shutting everyone else down.
Sin’s jaw opened slightly, ’Seriously? I make Dra’res beat him up, and he thanks me for it?’ He laughed inwardly.
Dra’res shook his head from within Sin’s shadow, thinking to himself: ’My attack would not have even killed him. What a drama queen.’
