I Evolve By Collecting Infinite Spirits-Chapter 52: Spirit Crystal
"Bob!" Thurfos’ loud voice rang, getting Sin’s attention.
Sin looked at Thurfos. The man threw a pickaxe through the air, Sin grabbing it with one hand.
"Get to work... this one has more than usual so it’s going to take a little while." Thurfos exclaimed as he turned and began to get to work.
Sin dropped down into the main area of the cove, walking beside Thurfos and beginning to dig at the crystal nodes.
"Hey kid... if you get tired, don’t feel guilty for resting. It’s a part of the job. As long as you can come back stronger, feel free to work efficiently." Thurfos smiled.
Sin nodded, "Don’t worry, I’m usually good at this stuff." He slammed the pickaxe directly into the center of the node.
A crystal node was a unique natural creation. It was a stone at the center that had many different-sized crystals growing out of it.
Usually, someone would have to dig out each crystal one by one by picking at the stone around the crystals.
It would take quite a while for even one node to be finished because of how many hits of the pickaxe it took.
However, Sin destroyed the stone at the center and freed every single crystal attached to it with a single blow.
Thurfos instantly noticed this, his attention slowly turning towards Sin as his eyes began to widen.
Sin continued, slamming his pickaxe into more and more nodes.
His grip was firm, his hands squiriming with detailed striations of muscle.
Within minutes, he was getting through dozens of nodes with ease.
"What... in the world..." A man who was observing Sin from afar muttered under his breath.
He walked near Thurfos, "Thurfos... who the hell is this guy?"
Thurfos didn’t answer for a second, baffled himself, "I don’t know, but I know that I am the fastest worker in this team. And even I can’t break a node in under thirty seconds..."
Another man neared, "Well clearly, you aren’t the fastest any more than, eh?"
Soon enough, almost everyone was glancing at Sin every few seconds. They were all amazed at his speed and strength.
"He’s a damn prodigy. He was clearly born for work like this..." Thurfos almost began to get emotional, ’Someone like him comes once a millennium... I need to recruit him to my team by the end of this mission!’ He set a goal for himself.
Work continued, but it finished two entire hours earlier than expected.
By the end, even Sin was quite knackered. He had cleared 60% of the entire cove by himself, and was completely covered in sweat.
’Okay...’ Sin mused, ’I stored as much as I could in my inventory. Its maxed out now.’
Out of the 5x5 space he had, most of it was filled with Spirit Energy Crystals.
’Its a lot, but if I leave now with only this much compared to just how much there is, I fear I might regret missing an opportunity.’ Sin began to think of a way he could get even more crystals.
His eyes glanced around, looking for a possibility, ’I don’t want to get greedy... but in the future, I will have to outbid Surfin and others. If I can get a shit ton of Spirit Crystals right here, I can have a jump start and begin buying dungeons right from today instead of having to wait who knows how long. I might never get an opportunity to mine in a damn cove like this again...’
Sin exhaled, looking down at his shadow. Out of nowhere, he saw a pair of red eyes shine in his shadow.
’Oh? Dra’res...’ Sin thought to himself, Dra’res giving him an idea. Sin smirked, turning as he liked the idea that Dra’res had just proposed to him through that gesture.
Sin looked around at everyone. Work had just finished up, so everyone was still resting for now.
People were taking out snacks or drinks, taking their time to recover before exiting the dungeon.
Right now, no one was paying attention to him it seemed, which was exactly what he was looking for.
’Perfect...’ He sneakily made his way out of the room.
Instantly, he began to sprint to get to another part of the dungeon.
’I’ll summon Dra’res somewhere else and pretend he’s a monster in the dungeon. That way, I can create some sort of distraction and--’
Sin’s train was thought to be cut off by a random voice.
"Oi! Where do you think you’re going?"
Sin stopped, turning slowly.
The leader of the Hunter group was standing about 20 feet behind him. He was clearly quite pissed at Sin’s actions.
"The rules I said were strict... stay in my line of sight at all times."
Sin furrowed his brows, ’Shit... we are in an open area, so even if I summon Dra’res right now it will look like I summoned him.’
Sin focused in on the Hunter’s expression, ’And he doesn’t look like he’s in the mood to fall for the old piss story either...’
"Well... explain yourself!" The Hunter shouted, crossing his hands with anger.
"W-wait..." Sin said, slowly nearing the Hunter, "P-please don’t move..."
The Hunter narrowed his eyes, "What? Don’t move? What are you talking about."
"Just trust me!" Sin was now about 15 feet away from the Hunter. "Do NOT turn around! It will see you..."
The Hunter’s expression was now a bit fearful, "W-what will see me?" He began to stutter slightly, ’Im sure we cleared everything. If something else is in the dungeon still, it would have to be quite strong to hide its presence...’
As soon as Sin got 10 feet away from the man, he summoned Dra’res behind him.
"Tsk! Whatever, I doubt its anything that powerful. This is only a D-Rank dungeon--"
The Hunter turned, his voice disappearing from fear as he saw a massive ogre towering behind him.
"Protection veil." The Hunter muttered as a light blue aura instantly surrounded his entire body. Right afterwards, he was slammed across the side of the head--knocked out.
Sin exhaled, "Phew... that was close."
Dra’res scoffed.
"Okay, now follow me." Sin said, suddenly bursting out into a full-on sprint.
"HELP!!!" He ran back to the Spirit Crystal room, jumping into the air as he flailed his arms and legs.
Every ore collector noticed him, and then saw the giant ogre rush in a few seconds behind.
Dra’res put on a ferocious front--even though he didn’t really have to. Drool dripped from his mouth as he donned a vicious expression, like some sort of rabid dog.
Sin ran deeper into the room as everyone else quickly put their tail between their legs and ran for the exit.
"Oh hell no!"
"Get out!"
"Screw this! Leave!"
Within seconds, almost had scattered.
Finally, Sin stopped and turned. "Hah~~thats better..." He then faced the crystal nodes all over the room, grinning.
