I Cast Forbidden Spells Until the World Breaks-Chapter 86 Something Is Awakening Underground
"Robert, can I leave now?" Zayne asked.
"Huh? Oh. Yes, yes, of course."
Zayne’s voice snapped Robert out of his shock.
It was terrifying to think about.
In just one month, Zayne had gained seven levels.
That kind of growth was unheard of.
Robert could not even imagine how efficient Zayne’s monster farming had been inside the realm.
No wonder Forbidden Spellcasters rarely lived past thirty.
When God opened a window, He slammed the door shut and crushed your head with it.
If Forbidden Spellcasters had the same lifespan as other classes, then every other class might as well give up.
They could just find a wall and smash into it.
"Wait. No. Hold on. You cannot leave yet."
Robert suddenly reacted as Zayne walked past him.
"You are currently the highest level participant."
"You have a very high chance of becoming this year’s national champion."
"So you need to stay until the realm officially closes."
"National champion?" Zayne asked calmly.
"Is there a reward?"
"Of course there is," Robert said with a nod.
"Besides the honor, Aurelion will grant a very generous prize."
"How generous?" Zayne’s eyes lit up.
"About six or seven floors thick."
Zayne made his decision instantly.
Originally, he planned to return to Old Shipyard Port as soon as possible.
After all, he had completely offended Garen.
And Garen was a local tyrant in Bitnoris.
Avoiding trouble would have been the smart move.
But rewards changed everything.
Zayne stayed without complaint.
Five days passed in the blink of an eye.
One by one, the champions exited the Champion Secret Realm.
Every single one of them wore an ugly expression.
They looked like they had just eaten several pounds of something very unpleasant.
Over those five days, some teams of five people killed only four monsters total.
That was not even one monster per person.
Others did not encounter a single monster at all.
They spent five days wandering aimlessly inside the realm.
The monsters inside the Champion Secret Realm had vanished.
It was as if some invisible force had erased them.
Garen and Leah’s group experienced the same thing.
Over five days, their group of more than ten people encountered only two monsters.
They killed one.
The other was a Treasureback Golden Turtle.
They chased it relentlessly and finally captured it alive.
But something even stranger happened.
The Treasureback Golden Turtle’s stomach was completely empty.
There was nothing inside.
That made no sense.
Treasureback Golden Turtles were obsessed with treasure.
They swallowed anything valuable on sight.
The only explanation was obvious.
Someone had gotten there first and emptied its stomach.
Garen’s face darkened like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
He entered the realm at Level 22.
He left at Level 22.
That meant he gained nothing.
He got beaten half to death.
He spent more than half a month recovering.
And in the end, he gained zero levels.
The culprit was obvious.
Zayne.
The moment Garen exited and saw Zayne standing there calmly, he nearly charged forward.
If not for Zayne, he could have gained three or four levels easily.
He might have even competed for the national champion title.
But Garen forced himself to calm down.
He shot Zayne a cold glance and looked away.
Inside the Champion Secret Realm, he was no match for Zayne.
He was not stupid enough to fall in the same place twice.
But this was far from over.
Once everyone exited the realm, all levels were tallied.
The highest level was Zayne.
Without question.
After all, the monsters inside had been wiped out by him.
"Congratulations, Zayne," Robert said.
"You are the highest level participant in this Champion Secret Realm."
Even though he expected it, Robert could not hide his shock.
For years, the national champion title belonged to students from major cities.
Those champions entered the realm already in their twenties.
They were on a completely different level from champions from small towns.
Zayne shattered that rule.
Old Shipyard Port was undeniably a small city.
Once this news spread, countless jaws would hit the floor.
"What?" Garen shouted.
"Level 25?!"
He could no longer stay calm.
He stared at Zayne with pure hatred.
Zayne was only Level 18 before entering the realm.
Seven levels in one run.
No wonder there were barely any monsters left inside.
That meant Zayne crushed him into meat paste.
Zayne forced him to spend half a month healing.
And during that time, Zayne slaughtered every monster in the realm.
"Zayne," Garen growled.
"You bastard. This is not over."
The champions from other cities also looked at Zayne differently now.
Their gazes carried hostility.
They finally understood why the last five days were so barren.
Zayne was the reason.
"Damn it. A Forbidden Spellcaster who will not live long, and he still steals all the kills."
"That is disgusting."
"Exactly. Past national champions were Level 26 or even 27."
"He dragged the value of the title down."
"Why is a Forbidden Spellcaster even allowed in the college entrance trial?"
"No Forbidden Spellcaster lives past thirty."
"What is the point of cultivating one?"
"He is just wasting resources that belong to Aurelion’s future elites."
The crowd erupted into angry discussion.
Zayne did not care.
Eva did.
She crossed her arms and started arguing back.
But one person could not shout down a crowd.
At that moment, the sky above the Champion Secret Realm darkened.
It was as if all light had been swallowed.
A deep unease spread through everyone’s hearts.
Then a thunderous boom erupted from the center of the realm.
It sounded like something massive was waking up underground.
The entire realm began to shake violently.
The ground swayed hard enough to make people dizzy.
"Everyone stay calm. Crouch where you are," Robert shouted.
His face turned pale.
He realized the exit had closed at some point.
No matter what he did, he could not open it.
The Champion Secret Realm had never malfunctioned before.
What was happening?
The sky grew darker.
The oppressive darkness felt almost solid.
Then a crimson beam shot into the sky from deep within the realm.
It tore through the darkness and illuminated every face.
Within that red light, massive figures could be seen.
Their forms varied wildly.
Some had horns.
Some had wings.
Others were covered in scales.
All of them radiated overwhelming evil.
Robert’s pupils shrank.
He could no longer stay composed.
Even his voice trembled.
"This is... the Demon Race."
