[Reward Obtained: Navel Needle - White Tiger Three Needles]

Navel Needle?

There's only one type of acupuncture technique?

Lu Jiu knew that there were many techniques in navel acupuncture, such as True Martial Three Needles, Vermilion Bird Three Needles, Cyan Dragon Three Needles, Rising Yang Three Needles, and so on.

Compared to Mountain Burning Fire and Piercing Cold, navel acupuncture seems more like the secret skill of a sect, with each move precisely addressing various situations.

For example, the White Tiger Three Needles that Lu Jiu has obtained now, actually possesses the efficacy of the White Tiger Decoction.

Isn't the White Tiger Decoction used to treat diabetes?

This acupuncture technique can do it too!

The most special thing is that this technique involves just one acupoint.

The key lies not in the combination of acupoints, but in the arrangement of the Eight Trigrams.

Taking the navel as the center, the positions of the Later Heaven Eight Trigrams are fixed: Qian (☰), Kan (☵), Gen (☶), Zhen (☳), Xun (☴), Li (☲), Kun (☷), Dui (☱), then acupuncture is performed based on the requirements of the technique in these positions.

Just hearing about this technique already sounds quite mystical, while other acupuncture techniques can cure diseases, more or less having some scientific basis since the body's acupuncture points have been proven and their effects now scientifically validated.

But why is it that by positioning around a person's navel and then applying acupuncture, can diseases be cured?

The navel is also an acupoint, which the ancients called Shen Que.

Shen refers to the divine essence, which is innate, Que refers to the residence of the monarch, implying the place where a person's vitality (Qi) and spirituality (Shen) reside.

There's a passage in "Essential Acupuncture" that states, "The Shenque is where the divine resides. Above is the celestial realm, below is the earthly realm, and the middle is the human realm. The sides are Qi cavities, blind points, above is Shui Fen and Xia Wan, below is Heng Hu (Yin Junction Acupoint), Bao Men, Zi Hu, with the navel residing right in the middle like a palace gate, divine communication with the innate, when parents come together to form the fetus, the innate umbilical cord is like a lotus stem, connected to the mother's life gate, the heavenly one generating water thus forming the kidneys, resembling an unopened lotus, following the five elements to generate each other, reliant on the mother's Qi to turn. When the ten-month fetus is full, the divine is injected into the navel, forming a human, hence the name Shenque."

After people are born, the divine and Qi separate, the divine opening in the brain, Qi lingering in the navel. Therefore, Shenque does not just refer to the navel per se, but is a term for the innate state of life and a micro-regulatory control function.

In other words, the Shenque is the most critical place for maintaining the magnetic field of life.

Thus, stimulating just the Shenque point can balance the body's yin and yang to autonomously expel illness, providing a theoretical basis.

Lu Jiu has seen navel acupuncture and has some understanding of its effectiveness.

For the same disease, regular acupuncture might require four to five sessions to resolve, but navel acupuncture only requires one session.

Previously, Lu Jiu didn't quite understand why navel acupuncture was so effective, but after learning about The Book of Changes, he somewhat grasped it.

The Yijing Bagua can change the unseen energies in this world, and since humans are a microcosm, they also have orientations. Navel acupuncture combines needling with the Bagua, using the Shenque as the focal point to alter the positions of Qi within the body, thereby achieving yin-yang balance.

With the White Tiger Three Needles from navel acupuncture, Lu Jiu has effectively stepped into the realm of navel acupuncture.

Combined with his diligent study of The Book of Changes, using this needle technique posed almost no difficulty for him, easily grasping the essence of the White Tiger Three Needles in his mind.

When the day comes that he masters 70-80% of navel acupuncture, he might surpass Shen Congwei in acupuncture.

By then, there should be very few in the country who can exceed Lu Jiu in acupuncture, even if there are, they would be at least at the level of National Master of Chinese Medicine.

After all, in the field of acupuncture, there are only a handful of recognized top techniques, and mastering one is already impressive. As for Lu Jiu, he knew Mountain Burning Fire and Piercing Cold before, and now he has mastered navel acupuncture, and he also has the Nine Yang Needles, which he hasn't had much chance to use.

It's safe to say that for someone his age, there's probably no one else in the country who knows as much Chinese medicine.

Speaking of which, during school, Lu Jiu heard from a teacher about a Five Elements Acupuncture Technique, which is said to be no less than navel acupuncture, but it was lost a century ago. Some say it disappeared completely, while others claim it was transferred overseas.

Who knows if the system will grant him the Five Elements Acupuncture Technique as a reward in the future.

Although one can bite off more than they can chew, he's got a system after all.

Lu Jiu contemplated, unable to hide his smile.

Suddenly, Zhang Yu said, "Dr. Lu, what are you thinking about that makes you so happy?"

Lu Jiu smilingly released his hand, "It's nothing, your issue with spleen deficiency has improved quite well, you won't need to come for check-ups in the future. With your current lifestyle, you shouldn't have too many problems."

Zhang Yu said, "I also feel I've recovered quite well, not only that, but I've lost a lot of weight, especially the fat around my stomach has reduced dramatically compared to before. I haven't really exercised much, barely worked up a sweat, yet I lost weight so quickly!"

Lu Jiu smiled and said, "This is the benefit of restoring the function of the spleen and stomach."

Zhang Yu nodded, "From now on, no matter what, you can't mess up the spleen and stomach, otherwise, not only will you gain weight, but it's also easy to get sick. Hey, Dr. Lu, do you remember the cousin I mentioned to you last time?"

Lu Jiu asked, "What's going on?"

Zhang Yu frowned, "After I talked to you last time, my cousin had another episode, right at the Hidden Dragon City Second Hospital's psychiatric department. She kicked her mom and almost hit a doctor. In the end, we relatives had no choice but to send her to the Jingjiang Mental Hospital."

"After living there for a month, the doctors there said she was doing quite well and could go home, but she had to take her medication on time. When I visited her home the day before yesterday, I was shocked to see her. My cousin had completely changed."

"She used to be tall and thin, looking very slender and pretty, but this time she not only gained weight and lost her shape, her face was swollen like a bun. Her mental state seemed normal and her emotions were much more stable than before, but I still feel something's off about her."

"I initially advised her parents to see a Chinese medicine doctor, but they seemed scared, as if as long as my cousin could take medication to stabilize her condition, they were satisfied and didn't want to try anything else."

"I actually understand their feelings, but I'm just worried that if she keeps taking medication like this, one day it won't suppress her condition again, and she'll do something terrifying."

Lu Jiu remembered the case; he had encountered a mental health patient before.

It was a girl with depression named Wang Mengfei.

After a few treatments, Lu Jiu adjusted her sleep, then boosted her Yang energy, encouraged her to move more, get outside and sunbathe. After stopping all psychiatric medications, her condition improved significantly in less than a month.

During her last follow-up, her vitality was indistinguishable from a normal person, and her relationship with her father had improved. The father and daughter came happily and left happily several times.

"We should respect her parents' decision, of course. As her cousin, if you want to do something, pay attention to a few points: first, how's her sleep? If she's still having insomnia, be very vigilant; second, is she going out often? If she's still staying home all the time, that's a problem; third, if she's dazed during the day and her memory is getting worse, it means the medication has harmed her deeply, and her body and mind will rebel against taking medicine. If she explodes emotionally during a conflict with her parents, the consequences could be unpredictable," Lu Jiu said.

Zhang Yu chuckled bitterly, "Even if I know, what can I do? I suggested twice they try Chinese medicine, but they just won't listen. How about you, Dr. Lu, could you come and help?"

Lu Jiu shook his head, "Although I don't refuse any patient here, I won't beg to treat someone, especially those who don't believe in me. If they really can't find a solution and finally decide to try me, I'm still willing to help, but asking me to visit them, sorry, you've got the wrong person!"

Zhang Yu expressed some regret, "I'm sorry Dr. Lu, I got too anxious."

Lu Jiu smiled, "It's normal to be anxious when a family member is sick. I don't blame you, but you should understand; going out of your way to help someone doesn't always bring gratitude. While I don't need this gratitude, I also don't want to take on risks that I don't have to, especially self-created ones."

Zhang Yu smiled wryly, "It seems that we can only wait for my cousin to have another episode, and after trying all the hospitals, they might finally be persuaded."

"Forget it, whatever happens, happens. Dr. Lu, goodbye."

Lu Jiu said, "Take care."

Leaving the clinic, Zhang Yu rode his little electric scooter back home.

He was originally a screenplay writer, with a flexible work schedule, but recently he started transitioning to novel writing, which made time more pressing.

He used to write scripts according to the film company's theme, taking several months to squeeze out a hundred thousand words, only for them to edit them heavily.

But nowadays, film companies are buying novel IPs for adaptation, and original screenplay writers have entered an industry winter. Some complain, some lament, some curse and blame those web novel authors with writing skills as poor as elementary students for taking their jobs.

However, some screenwriters, like Zhang Yu, quietly switched to writing novels. Many failed miserably, but some rose up, earning tens of thousands each month, living comfortably without having to cater to the film company's whims. How satisfying!

Zhang Yu hoped to live like that, but after entering the web novel industry, he realized it was just as tough.

The minimum daily update of four thousand words almost made him cough up blood.

Just the quantity of a web novel in a month equals several months of his work, especially the first hundred to two hundred thousand words with no pay, almost stopped him at the industry's doorstep.

Fortunately, he persevered and managed to get a contract thanks to his screenplay skills.

He turned on his computer and opened a Word document to start working.

Right then, his phone rang; it was his mom calling.

"Mom, what's up?"

"Xiao Yu, come quickly to your uncle's place, he was stabbed by Xi Xi."

What!?

Zhang Yu shot up from his chair like a rocket, dashed out of his room, and in a flash, he was out the door in his slippers, disappearing from sight...
