I Can Talk to the Internal Organs-Chapter 210 - 179: Gifts for the Children
Time flew by, and today was the day to go to the Experimental Primary School to teach the kids about traditional Chinese medicine.
Lu Jiu had finally packed all the gifts he had prepared into his backpack.
At 2 PM, Lu Jiu arrived at the school on time.
When he walked into the classroom, most of the students were already seated. As they saw Lu Jiu come in, their eyes began to sparkle.
"Teacher! Teacher!"
"Teacher, are the gifts in your backpack?"
"Teacher, I've memorized the words from the comic!"
"Teacher, my mom says she knows you—you're an amazing doctor."
"Teacher..."
The voices of the children were like those of songbirds, clear and pleasant, but when dozens sang at once and not in harmony, it became quite noisy, even a bit chaotic.
Nevertheless, the enthusiasm of these kids made Lu Jiu very happy.
"Everyone, quiet, quiet. Didn't the teacher say that if you want a gift, you need to answer the questions correctly? There are still ten minutes before class starts. Once all the students arrive, we'll begin the quiz, okay?" Lu Jiu said.
"Okay!!!!" The crowd responded in unison.
As a result, some kids took out their comic booklets to read carefully, hoping to ensure they'd get a gift.
Once the first student did so, others followed, and soon the classroom quieted down. All the kids started reading the comic booklets, some even quietly reciting as they read.
Before long, the class bell rang.
When the children heard the sound, they immediately lifted their heads to look at Lu Jiu, their eyes like burning flames.
"Alright, now it's class time. The teacher will start asking questions now. Let's start with the first group. Yu Qin, please answer: What taste does Heart Fire like most?" Lu Jiu asked.
Yu Qin, a little boy sitting in the front row, jumped up and answered loudly, "Bitter taste."
Lu Jiu nodded, "Correct, now what color does Heart Fire like best?"
Yu Qin continued, "Red!"
Lu Jiu nodded, "Very good, and what kind of meat does Heart Fire like most?"
Without hesitation, Yu Qin said, "Lamb meat."
Lu Jiu smiled, "Well done. It looks like Yu Qin memorized the first two pages well. Here's your reward, a small box with a gift inside. You'll need to open it, but promise the teacher to share it with your parents when you get home, okay?"
Yu Qin was delighted, "Yes, yes, thank you, teacher."
Lu Jiu nodded and then looked at the next student, "Zhang Doudou, it's your turn—the meat Spleen Earth likes best?"
Zhang Doudou jumped up, his round little face very cute, "Beef."
Lu Jiu smiled, "Correct answer, and the taste Spleen Earth likes most?"
Zhang Doudou said, "Sweet taste."
Lu Jiu continued, "And if you eat too much of the sweet taste, who will feel uncomfortable?"
Zhang Doudou paused, his eyes wandering for a while before becoming determined again, "Teacher, it's Hydronephrosis!"
Lu Jiu laughed, "Correct, so will Zhang Doudou keep eating sweets all the time?"
Zhang Doudou shook his head, "Can't eat too much, otherwise Hydronephrosis will cry."
Lu Jiu laughed, "Right, so you must protect the little ones in our bodies, don't harm them."
Zhang Doudou nodded like a little chick pecking rice, "Yes, yes, yes."
Lu Jiu said, "Here's your gift, take it home and open it with your parents."
Zhang Doudou beamed, "Thank you, teacher!"
...
"Han Shaowen, answer for the teacher: Who does Liver Wood bully when it's strong?"
"Spleen Earth!"
...
"Tang Minjie, among the Five Viscera, who is Hydronephrosis closest to?"
"Teacher, it's Liver Wood!"
...
"Jiang Zeshen, among the Five Viscera, which one gets injured so our ears can't hear?"
"Hydronephrosis!"
...
"Luo Xiaoxiao, who likes white the most?"
"Fei Jin!"
...
And so, for the whole class, Lu Jiu was asking the kids questions about the Five Viscera.
From what each viscera liked and disliked, to the relationships and conflicts among them, and to what happens to our bodies when there's a problem with them.
These contents were all in the booklets, and Lu Jiu was asking from the first three pages only, except towards the end when the questions became too easy for the kids, and he went slightly beyond the syllabus.
Unexpectedly, the kids could also answer the extra questions, much to Lu Jiu's surprise.
Clearly, after returning home, they didn't just stick to the first two pages as he asked, but read the whole booklet and remembered it.
This made Lu Jiu very generous when giving out the gifts.
Just in time, as the class ended, Lu Jiu successfully handed out all the fifty-five gifts he had prepared to the kids.
Riiiiiiiiing~~~~
The end-of-class bell rang.
Every child's face was filled with smiles.
You could tell they were very happy even though they didn't know what the gifts were, just knowing there was a gift was enough to make them happy.
"Alright, class, let's end it here!" Lu Jiu smiled. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Accompanied by the students' chorused goodbyes to the teacher, Lu Jiu left the classroom.
Actually, the gifts Lu Jiu prepared weren't expensive and didn't cost much.
They were simply badges with cartoon images of each child and a letter.
The contents of the letter were some of the information Lu Jiu learned on the first day when he checked their pulses. The reason he wanted the children to open it at home was to have their parents read the letter.
Soon, 4:30 arrived, and the school's dismissal bell rang. The entrance of the Experimental Primary School was crowded with parents waiting to pick up their children.
When the school's gates opened, the pupils, organized by the teachers, left in lines but soon scattered everywhere.
Parents, like trying to catch chickens in a coop, kept a close eye on their kids, fearing they would vanish as soon as they walked out of the school gates.
"Mom, see, I received a gift today from our Chinese medicine teacher."
"Dad, a gift, our teacher gave it."
"Grandpa, hurry up and pedal, I want to go home and open the gift!"
"..."
The children from Lu Jiu's class couldn't wait to get home.

"Dad, Dad, come out quick." Yu Qin rushed home, shouting loudly.
"What's the matter?" Yu Jun came out from the kitchen.
"Oh, once school ends, he said the teacher gave him a gift and insisted on opening it with us," Yu Qin's mom, Fang Yun, said as she changed shoes and placed Yu Qin's backpack on the sofa.
"Oh? What gift? Let's open it." Yu Jun came closer.
Unable to hold back, Yu Qin immediately opened the box, and soon a badge and a letter appeared before the three of them.
"Wow, that's me!" Yu Qin immediately noticed the cartoon avatar on the badge looked a lot like him.
"There's also a letter," Yu Jun said.
"Open it and see," Fang Yun said.
Yu Qin picked up the letter, opened it, and saw the contents written by Lu Jiu.
"Yu Qin, remember, don't eat too many cold things. Even if you want them, you shouldn't sneak them at night—it's not good for your health. Although your cold and fever have healed, the root cause remains. As long as you don't keep eating icy things in winter, by next spring, your illness will slowly improve. Also, remember, don't stay in your room for too long; go out to play and run around. Your vision is already showing signs of decline. If you stay home every day and focus on close things, using your eyes too much will hurt Liver Wood. As you know, when Liver Wood is hurt, your eyes will get hurt too. So, make sure to take care of yourself, got it!"
