I Can See Health Bars in Real Life-Chapter 481 - 5: Chaldea, Merlin, and the Eastern Immortal (Part 3)
"I am under the king's commission, searching for something. But since you've arrived, I can lead you while I'm at it... Fortunately, what I'm looking for isn't in that place, so let's go back to Uruk for now." The magician guided the group forward as he spoke.
"Does Merlin know we are coming?"
"Of course, I'm here to assist Chaldea, and don't think I've been doing nothing all this time. It's too narrow-minded to exclude me now." The white-haired magician revealed a spirited smile, "But it's not just me. The astrologers of Uruk have already made prophecies, knowing that the Master, who guards humanity, will arrive..."
He paused for a moment: "And the king also knew long ago about your coming."
"The king..." The shield-bearing girl hesitated slightly, "The king of this era is that tyrant Gilgamesh, right?"
"Yes, of course, it's King Gilgamesh! Don't tell me you thought he used the Holy Grail's power for tyrannical rule, destroying the world, disturbing the people of this time?" Merlin happily acknowledged, "Although I agree, among all kings, this king does stand out as an exemplary tyrant..."
"However, in this singularity, the one who holds the Holy Grail is not him, and it's precisely because of this king's vitality that Uruk can persist until now... As for who the current enemy is, the situation is somewhat complex, you should temporarily aim to defeat the 'Three Goddess Alliance' and strive accordingly."
"Three Goddess Alliance?"
"Yes, situated to the north is the Demon Beast Goddess, to the south the Forest Goddess, and finally the Celestial Soaring Goddess without a base... These three goddesses have formed an alliance to exterminate mankind in this era," Merlin said, appearing somewhat thoughtful, "Though it seems the greatest threat currently is that Demon Beast Goddess, as for the other two... I can't say for sure."
The issue with the Demon Beast Goddess is the biggest and directly connected to the source of this era's collapse, an undeniable fact. The endlessly generated demon beasts are truly hateful towards humans, determined to exterminate all humanity, acting based on their hatred.
However, concerning the other two divinities...
According to Merlin's observations, although the Forest Goddess commanded the forest to engulf Uruk City and Eridu, causing the southern cities to disappear, she hadn't actually harmed those inhabitants. And the notoriously fierce Celestial Soaring Goddess seemed to sporadically attack Uruk, yet many times she'd merely bomb the demon beast hordes about to blow through defenses.
Nevertheless, to some extent, it's certain that the Three Goddess Alliance isn't truly unified internally; they are discontent, and not in full agreement to exert all efforts to eliminate humans... Ultimately, this is a good thing.
"The Demon Beast Goddess... is she related to those demon beasts we saw before?" The red-haired girl pondered seriously, then asked, seeking confirmation of her suspicion.
"Absolutely... You happen to see the North Wall here, come take a look, the greatest pressure we face now comes from these." Merlin ascended to a height, gazed at the distance, and beckoned to the group.
The mysterious girl named Anna seemed uninterested, but the two girls from Chaldea were curious enough to quickly climb up. On the high slope, mountains and forests meandered, but there was a distinct pass, visible through which was an even farther end.
"This, this is..."
"Is that a wall?"
They were astonished to see the furthest point accessible to their vision, where a solid wall stood at the Earth's end, seemingly stretching boundlessly to both sides, and outside the wall lay a vast ravine akin to a deep moat, complementing the wall to form an impressively formidable, impregnable line of defense.
Though outside the wall, across the huge ravine, swarmed demon beasts like ants, their terrifying magic power response stirring apprehension within them.
"So many demon beasts, just the detectable reactions number in the thousands..."
"It's truly unbelievable Uruk is continually resisting this relentless assault?"
Based on calculations from Chaldea, those strange demon beasts they faced, the basic individual combat power compared to a small automatic tank, and that endless ant-like march, an abnormal number of demon beasts attacking at all times, how could just the wall hold them back?
Even though the sturdy wall seemed endless, extending infinitely to the sides, its simplicity couldn't be overlooked, being built with massive logs as the core, constructed in a fence-like manner.
"Actually, now it's relatively scarce compared to three months ago; back then, demon beasts densely populated the plains, and practically every part of the North Wall defense line endured immense pressure, with constant demon beast attacks, and the fortress cities behind fought continuously night and day."
Merlin shrugged as he spoke.
"What alleviated the situation?" The shield-bearing girl frowned, asking, "What caused the number of demon beasts to decrease?"
"It's just as you see now..."
The magician wore a fresh smile on his face, pointing to the enormous ravine ahead of the demon beast front line—
