Chapter 246: Ironclad Mercenaries 2

"I think we need to search for a new leader.’

Bran, a man with few words, could not help but say after hearing Miguel’s words.

The others looked at each other and nodded their heads, agreeing to his sentiment.

Darius also frowned after hearing his first order.

Provoke enemies?

Even if they were a hundred times more powerful, they would still not provoke enemies for no apparent reason.

’Could it be that this Sid is indeed a fake? Is he trying to lead us to doom?’

Of course, just like what he stated earlier, they would not just blindly follow the order of their ’leader.’

The Ironclad Mercenaries operated with a clear set of rules. The leader was more like a figurehead than an actual leader to them.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, Darius could not help but ask, "Is there any reason for your order? We can’t just blindly follow your order. We are a mercenary group, not a slave group. If there is no benefit to us, I think it’s better that we just stay here and wait for another leader."

Nicknamed as the most stable and rational of the whole group, it was Darius who did not jump to conclusion immediately and instead asked to clarify the matter.

When the Ironclad Mercenary members thought that their leader was incompetent, it was also Darius himself who would reevaluate the actions of everyone to set fairness. Of course, he himself was subjected to such treatment too so he could not take sides during such proceedings.

Miguel nodded his head after hearing his question.

"As for my reasons, I can not tell you directly. However, the benefits for you and me are endless."

"First, what I need you guys to do is to provoke enemies. As for who the ’enemy’ is, you guys have the freedom to choose. As a mercenary squad, there should be some conflicts that remain unsolved for you guys, right?"

"If you want it settled, now’s the chance."

"Second, well, there is no second. Just provoke the enemies and bring them to me. I’ll handle the rest after that, no need to get involved with the battle."

The Ironclad Mercenaries looked at each other lost in thought.

They then gathered and talked about the advantages of this deal.

And no matter how they discussed, they only arrived at one conclusion.

This deal seemed to have no obvious disadvantage for them.

In fact, it was so good that they thought it was a lie.

However, even if it was, it would not implicate them that much either.

All the danger would be concentrated on their new leader, Sid, and all they needed to do was to lure the enemies his way.

No matter what, it looked like only they would benefit in this transaction and there was nothing for Sid to gain.

Unless...

Darius turned to look at Sid but ultimately did not say anything.

After confirming with the others, Darius finally nodded his head to Miguel, stating that they agree to his arrangement.

Fully accepting Sid to their group, Darius asked on behalf of everyone.

"Captain, are you in a hurry for this arrangement or not?"

"No. But if you can finish it as soon as possible, then the better. It’s better for you guys that way as well, right?"

Darius nodded his head, understanding why said so.

"Alright then. We will accomplish this task as soon as possible. Before we ’provoke’ our enemies, do we have something to take note of?"

What he meant was that if there were any need to limit the strength and number of enemies they should provoke.

Darius was, of course, worried that they might ’provoke’ more than they could chew. He just wanted to ask if Sid had some especial instructions to avoid certain enemies, and as to how strong should the enemy they should provoke be.

Hearing his words, Sid merely chuckled and answered, "As long as they are not benevolent saints, then bring them to me. As for numbers, let’s take it slow for the time being and not frighten the enemy on the first night."

Darius nodded his head and suggested, "How about fou-"

His words cut short as a maniacal chuckle escaped Miguel’s mouth.

"Fifty should be enough!"

Not only Darius, even the usually brave Garrick could not help but widen in his eyes in disbelief.

The mercenaries, once again looked at each other, as if confirming that they had indeed heard the same thing.

Even before they could recover from their stupor, Sid once again dropped another arrogant bomb.

"Yes, for strength, a Grandmaster is enough. If there’s a summoner, even better."

Hearing that, even Darius could not but say, "Crazy. Captain, you’re crazy!"

An amused chuckle escaped his lips as his smiling face turned serious, "Are you actually serious?"

Sid merely grinned before nodding his head. With his current strength, was he still afraid of a grandmaster?

Seeing the affirmation, a wry smile appeared on Darius’ face.

"We don’t have an enemy that strong," he said with a hint of regret in his face.

’Wait, why am I regretting that we don’t have such a strong enemy! I should be thankful instead, else, all of us would have died by now if we had such a formidable foe.’

"Well, what a pity. Then just provoke anyone you don’t like then. Right, you should start with those who have the greatest enmity with you. It’s not always everyday that I am available, so you better take this chance."

Darius nodded his head and said, "Got it!"

Although it still remained a question if Sid was truly as strong as his words, Darius also did not want to miss this golden opportunity to get rid of their enemy basically for free.

"Can you wait for at least two hours? I think we can make some enemies for you in this period of time."

"Right, where shall we inform you if the enemy has been provoked?" Darius asked.

"Yes, I can wait. I should still be wandering in this forest in a few days so you can meet me here. If not, just post a bounty or common mission in the taverns and inform me of the location and time on where we should meet."

Darius nodded his head, and left with the others a few minutes later.

Miguel, on the other hand, remained atop the huge stone, waiting for the return of the Ironclad Mercenaries, hoping that they would truly bring some enemies for him.

He also hoped that a grimoire summoner would be among them.
