I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 234: Deliberate
The most special thing about Cedric Ironheart was that he was extremely wealthy, and at the same time, not greedy.
He was known to be a kind person who doesn’t have any enemies, aside from the robbers who wanted to get his wealth.
Cedric Ironheart was also very generous. He would always pay more to requests and missions he issued, making his requests easily accepted by the mercenary circles. It could be said that with him as the client, it was common for mercenaries to fight over the ’quota’ to accept his mission.
However, since the search and capture mission was a large-scale mission that can be accepted by almost every mercenary who was interested, then there was no fight for the time being and all the mercenaries raced to find that beast and obtain promised reward.
As for Miguel, his main goal was not to search for the beast. Although 2,000 Gold Coins was a lot, it was not particularly tempting to him. If he was in need of money, he could just go out and hunt a Silver Grade Beast and he would be able to obtain at least 5,000 Gold Coins in a single setting.
His main goal was to earn experience points and possibly obtain an opportunity to kill a summoner and obtain their grimoire.
As Northern Crest Forest was outside of Blazing City, the Red Family and even the city lord didn’t mind if someone was killed over there.
Conflict and fight could not be uprooted, it could only be lessened or suppressed.
Of course, the Red Family and the City Lord force would not mind, as long as the one who died was not one of them. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The Red Family was a vengeful family, after all. All the people in Blazing City knew of this very clearly.
With his face, it was easy for Miguel to get into conflict. Most of the mercenaries were not good people. Miguel doesn’t have an ounce of guilt and targeted them for experience points.
When he arrived at the periphery of the Northern Crest Forest, it was already close to ten p.m.
Looking around, there were still a lot of people searching for the whereabouts of that beast. As this was the periphery of the forest, and as it was here where Cedric Ironheart saw the beast, most mercenaries thought that the beast was only hiding in the area around here.
Miguel looked around and finally chose a spot where it has less people. He wanted to pretend as someone who was also searching for the beast first and find an opportunity to get into conflict later.
As he approached that area, one of the mercenaries there noticed his advance and immediately stepped forward to block his path.
Seeing this, Miguel’s eyes lit up.
The mercenary who approached him had a cold look on his face. He was bald and had a scar underneath his chin. There was a glistening sword on his waist, one look and Miguel could tell that it was just an ordinary sword and not a graded one.
Graded weapons were not common to begin with. It was only inside the Red Family that Miguel saw most members possess a graded weapon of their own. The Red Family was indeed wealthy.
"Stop! This area is restricted and it is prohibited to search here," the mercenary stated while suppressing a yawn. From the looks of it, he was already tired; he seemed to want to go to sleep at the next instant.
"Why is that?" Miguel, as Sid, has a high-pitched voice.
It was like an ear-piercing shriek, and anyone who heard it would immediately feel annoyed.
Expectedly, the mercenary contorted his brows as visible annoyance appeared on his face.
"Our mercenary group is already searching this area. Go search for another spot," at this point, the mercenary turned his waist toward the side. He propped his sword up, as if telling Miguel to go away as he has a sword.
This was a threat.
"Mercenary group? You can enter a mercenary group with your strength?" Miguel deliberately stated with a smile.
However, it was this smile that triggered the mercenary. His smile was just too repulsive to look at. Anger boiled down his mind. He felt that Miguel was looking down on him.
Getting provoked so easily, the mercenary drew out his sword and pointed it at Miguel.
"Last chance! This is our mercenary group’s spot," he gnashed his teeth in anger.
Due to the people around, he did not want to attack recklessly.
However, if the other party continued to remain here, he would not mind giving him a warning slash as an example.
This way, the other onlookers would also feel afraid of stealing their spot.
In fact, this was not the first time that something like this has happened.
Lone mercenaries would often come to this spot and search. Most of the time, they would be shooed away after mentioning that he was a mercenary group behind him, so there was no need to act angry and attack.
However, the situation right now was clearly very different.
The man in front of him seemed to possess a negative charm. No matter how he looked at him, the mercenary would feel like he wanted to beat him up for a few rounds.
"What’s going on?"
"It seems that a reckless fellow is trying to provoke the Manger Mercenaries."
"Is he a noob? How could he provoke them? I heard that all their members are extremely terrifying and cruel."
"I heard that too. Their leader was even said to have raped an underage girl in Blazing City, but there was no clear evidence so he was not persecuted."
"Yes. Their leader is also a sadistic person. I heard that he once tortured a lone mercenary just because that pitiful guy accepted a mission that the Manger Gang took fancy to."
"Sshh! Lower your voice, lest we get targeted by them as well."
The conversation of the onlooker entered Miguel’s ears. He felt gratified as he did not have to switch targets. Even though they were just rumors and he could not prove that they were truly that cruel, there was no smoke if there was no fire, so he believed that there was some truth behind their words.
The mercenary man did not hear their conversations as they were far away from him and they deliberately lowered their voice. He was also just a normal person and he doesn’t possesed enhanced hearing like Miguel.
And even if he heard them, he would still not mind and would not refute such rumors. After all, a mercenary group’s reputation could also allow them to accept certain missions.
"I don’t want to," Miguel stated with a smug look on his face, infuriating the mercenary man even more.
At this moment, their quarrel had already attracted a lot of attention. Even the man’s companion who was searching a moment ago came to see what was going on. Seeing their approach, the mercenary man became even more confident.
"Hmmp! Then don’t blame me for being impolite," the mercenary immediately took a step forward and slashed toward Miguel with great ferocity.
There was no hesitation in his eyes as he slashed with great force. It was apparent that this was not the first time he had done such an action. It seems that he already have some experience in slashing someone.
Miguel merely smiled at his actions, though. He dodged to the side leisurely before his right hand clenched into a fist and slammed into the man’s abdomen.
The mercenary man felt as if his stomach would come out of his mouth at the next instant. The blow was so strong that he felt like vomiting what he had eaten earlier.
’He’s so strong?’ This thought only lingered for a few moment before his eyes narrowed into a slit.
’It’s just a fluke,’ he thought as he clearly saw the fist traveling toward his stomach earlier. If he was not in an attacking motion, he felt that he could easily dodge his strike earlier.
The mercenary man’s eyes widened in anger. After taking two steps back, he widened his stance and slashed towards Miguel once more. This time, his eyes stared fixedly on Miguel’s fist, preparing to dodge.
Seeing it travel toward his stomach once more, his mouth curved into a smile as he abruptly stopped his slashing actions as he took a step back.
"Got ya," he commented, and was about to attack for real, thinking that he evaded Miguel’s strike.
However, at the next moment, his eyes widened in surprise as he felt a massive force landing on his left rib.
"Y-you!"
His eyes turned white due to pain. Confusion filled his brain, not understanding what had happened.
He was about to attack again, but this time, Miguel himself decided to finish the battle.
Seeing the people around, he thought that this was enough for the time being. With such a commotion, he was bound to attract a grimoire user, right?
His leg made a downward kick, striking the mercenary’s knee precisely.
A crisp sound broke out as the mercenary’s knee caved in inwardly. He immediately lost his balance and fell to the ground with a thud. His scream soon rang out as the pain of having his kneecap being shattered entered his mind.
The companions of the man soon rushed over to assist. They attacked Miguel simultaneously, but they were defeated one after the other.
Miguel rewarded their efforts by snapping each of their kneecap.
He breathed heavily and confiscated their weapons, "This is a mercenary group? How dare you set up a mercenary group with such lousy skills?"
"Haha. Go home and drink a gallon of milk first. This spot is mine now!"
