I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 226: Contracted Dark Veil Beast
The Dark Veil Beast was a Level 2 Bronze Grade Elemental type beast.
According to Aaliyah, it was a beast that didn’t have any future potential, even though they were rarely scene.
However, Miguel who possessed the Innate Skill, [Boundless Sage Knowledge], was not worried about such a thing.
Previously, he has already confirmed that the skill could allow him to almost see through everything. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
After he read a lot of books and obtained more knowledge from this world, the skill seemed to have grown stronger as well.
Previously, he obtained a lot of information when the skill was triggered on the Volcanic Tortoise.
By then, he saw its ancestor. The hidden evolutionary path that was probably unknown to the current world. It made him see in detail the process of evolution of that ancestor. If Miguel followed it’s actions, then there was no doubt that the Scorching Water Tortoise in his possession would also evolve to a behemoth like that of it’s ancestor.
Since then, Miguel realized another terrifying potential of his Innate Skill.
One must note that the history of the Wild Beast World also spans to countless eras.
All the beasts that exist right now surely have their own origin and ancestries. Most would have been lost in history, but with Miguel’s Innate Skill, such situation would be recalled perfectly.
As for why he was not able to use the skill to Edith and Aaliyah to determine their evolutionary path, Miguel had a certain guess.
Aaliyah and Edith were both ’beasts’ that were not contracted by normal means.
Before they were contracted, they were also not beasts, but humans who lived a life in the Wild Beast World.
Even if Miguel could use the Innate Skill to them, he did not doubt that it would only allow him to see their human ancestor, and not their evolutionary path.
Hence, Miguel decided not to dwell on it any longer and just focused on discovering their evolutionary path on their own. He considered this a challenge that he wanted to complete as well.
At this moment, Miguel’s will traveled to an unknown period of time.
He saw a small beast cowering in fear inside a dim cave.
The small beast was the Dark Veil Beast, but compared to the one that was contracted by Miguel earlier, this one was obviously smaller.
It seemed to be born inside the cave. It did not dare to go outside, even extremely afraid of the notion of going out.
From Miguel’s previous experience, he knew that the scene he would see during such an experience would point to the most powerful evolutionary path of a certain species. At least, he thought so after seeing the end form of the Volcanic Water Tortoise which was the Four-Element Devouring Tortoise.
After an unknown period of time, the Dark Veil Beast that was cowering in fear finally mustered up it’s courage to explore outside the cave.
Outside the cave, Miguel also realized why the Dark Veil Beast chose to hide inside the cave and not dare to go outside.
Outside, there was a terrifying storm that was going.
The sky was dark, full of dark and black clouds. The wind howled, but strangely enough, there was no rain that accompanied the wind.
The Dark Veil Beast suddenly shivered. Miguel followed its gaze. It was staring upward, to the dark clouds that filled the sky.
There, Miguel saw a terrifying scene.
A humongous tail could be seen swimming around it.
Looking at the scene, the Dark Veil Beast did not dare to stay any longer. It went back to the cave, shivering in fear to the scene outside.
For a period of time, Miguel saw the actions of the Dark Veil Beast.
He saw how it learned the skill [Phase Through] and then the skill [Visibility Concealment]. With these skills, it finally went outside to explore once more.
This time, although it was quite afraid, it steeled its resolve to explore.
As it explored, it learned to scavenge from the skills of others. It relied on it’s two skills and devoured the corpses left behind by strong hunters.
Miguel saw the process of how it learned another skill.
Through that skill, the Dark Veil Beast then evolved further and further.
At the end of the scene that he was brought into, Miguel saw the Dark Veil Beast floating in mid-air.
Its size had grown considerably large. Its form was also vastly different than before. It was like a massive cloud.
A dark massive cloud with two eyes in the form of a hole.
In front of it was the humongous creature that the Dark Veil Beast and Miguel saw before.
After letting out a terrifying howl, the Dark Veil Beast flashed towards the creature and after that, the scene shattered as Miguel’s consciousness returned to reality.
He regained his clarity almost instantly. He nodded his head in approval.
Each beast indeed has an evolutionary path that points to their strongest form. And such an evolutionary path was available for him to follow.
If the beast he contracts in the future has a long history of evolution, then the Innate Skill, [Boundless Sage of Knowledge] would surely point toward that particular evolutionary path.
As he did not have a quota for the time being, he was not able to summon the Dark Veil Beast.
As Intermediate Elite Rank Summoner, he could only summon 3 different beasts in a single day. Reaching the Advance Elite Rank would increase this quota to 4, while Master Rank Summoner’s could summon more as long as their grimoire or energy permits it.
Although he was quite strong in terms of pure strength, the same could not be said towards his summoner realm. As he did not explore too much and all the opponents he faced during these past few days were quite ’weak’, the experience points he gained was also quite small, making his Summoner Rank stagnate and get left behind by his strength.
Among them, only when they defeated the elders that he received a considerable amount, but even that was quite small compared to the vast amount of experience needed for him to upgrade further.
Well, if those elders knew of his thoughts, they would surely strangle him to death.
It took them a few decades to upgrade one rank to another. And now, he was regretful that he did not level up after a few weeks? How conceited!
Anyway, Miguel closed the grimoire and allowed the Scorching Water Tortoise to return as he and the two women went out to attend the second day of the academy’s yearly competition.
Before that, they went to Maras Tavern to have breakfast.
Maras served them respectfully as always.
His mood, though, was even worse than yesterday.
’It seemed that he was not able to convince the twin,’ Miguel thought to himself.
Maras shared his thoughts and Miguel’s guess was indeed spot on.
The twin was quite adamant on exploring the discovered passage.
According to their words, they believed that it was their only chance to get stronger and richer, and they did not want to miss such an opportunity.
Their situation had also attracted a lot of attention. There were even cases that people wanted to buy the location of that passage so that they could explore on their own.
However, the twin doesn’t want something like that to happen.
They can agree to sell, but the two of them wanted to go as well. And what they discovered should only belong to them.
However, considering their reputation, how could the potential buyers agree to such an arrangement?
Who would want to explore the passage with them? A twin that was rumored to have overflowing bad luck?
Hearing that, Miguel could only shake his head. He pitied the twin for what they were going through. He could also understand why they wanted to be included in the one to explore the passage.
From his point of view, the twin wanted to get stronger, and the two of them sensed that the passage had that ’item’ that could make them stronger.
The two of them thought that this was their fortuitous encounter.
Although their hasty actions were tantamount to being greedy, Miguel could truly not blame them.
Even he himself would also take the risk if he were on their shoes.
After they were done eating, Miguel and the two immediately proceeded to the academy.
After they arrived, he noticed that there were already a lot of people that occupied the seat even though the battle for today had not started yet.
The people parted ways to make way for him as he and the two women walked while looking around curiously.
They arrived at their respective seats and realized that most of the seats were already filled.
Damian was also there already. He nodded to Miguel as a greeting before he chatted with the dean.
After a while, Lumier went to the stage and finally announced the start of today’s competition.
