I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 215: As Expected
Miguel did not know what kind of trump card Erika was hiding for now. However, what he was certain was that she was not a little bit afraid of facing a strong opponent like Victor Hall at all.
After Lumier announced the start of the battle, both parties immediately went into action.
Without saying anything, Victor Hall took the spear from his back and immediately dashed toward Erika with extreme speed.
As for Erika, she ran back and distanced herself from the oncoming Victor.
With his enhanced senses, Miguel noticed that Erika was chanting inwardly as she distanced her from Victor.
Lumier mentioned in the rules earlier that as they were no longer newbies, the battle would start the moment he announced it.
Imitating real battles, summoners would not be given a preparation time to summon their grimoire and beast.
They must summon it only after the announcement of the referee, cutting off their advantage during the Freshmen competition.
No one was surprised by this as during their freshman year, it was a known fact that the academy would focus on teaching their students the ability to summon their grimoire as fast as possible around stressful environments.
When they were ambushed by the bandits before, it was Erika who managed to summon the grimoire the fastest compared to the others as well.
Seeing her action of deliberately distancing herself from Victor, Miguel knew that Erika had prepared well.
Victor, though, was much faster than Erika.
He arrived not far away from her a few seconds later.
Without saying anything, he brandished his spear towards her direction with a strong force.
As there were outstanding healers present to deal with emergency situations, there was no need to hold back during their fight. As long as they did not kill or fatally injure their opponents, any injury would be fine.
Fortunately, Erika dodged in time. Her body swerved to the side, evading the tip of Victor’s spear.
Victor was unfazed and immediately brandished the spear towards her now-exposed stomach.
This time, Erika finally took out a small dagger hidden on her waist.
Erika used the dagger and blocked the spear. However, even though she successfully blocked it at the last second, her arms still shook from the impact as her body was flung backwards with great force.
She took advantage of this opportunity to distance herself from Victor Hall.
Victor Hall, seeing through her intention, immediately followed right behind her figure.
His footsteps were swift and rapid as he immediately arrived right beside Erika once more.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
Boom!
As soon as a Bronze Grade grimoire was summoned in front of her, Victor Hall knew that the best opportunity to attack had already passed.
The spear traveled with great force toward Erika.
However, it was soon blocked by a bronze-colored absolute shield.
Victor Hall’s spear trembled along with his arms.
The absolute shield had no reaction. It was as though an immovable boulder was struck by Victor.
The rebound force caused his arm to ache, making it flung backwards as well.
Victor clicked his tongue in regret as he immediately distanced himself from Erika.
There was no need to attack the absolute shield of the summoners. It would just be a complete waste of time and energy.
Instead of doing that, he knew that it would be better to conserve his strength and just defeat the beast that she will summon.
Meanwhile, after Erika successfully summoned the grimoire and erected the shield, she did not waste any more time and immediately pressed her hand on one of the pages of her Bronze Grade Grimoire.
A streak of light appeared as a flying creature was summoned right behind her.
It was the Level 1 Bronze Grade Red Sparrow that she used during her fight with Miguel.
Compared to back then, though, Miguel noticed that its aura had become stronger and it has become slightly bigger.
’Level 2?’ Miguel tilted his head as he gauged the Red Sparrow’s strength.
Seeing its appearance, Miguel immediately realized where Erika’s confidence was coming from.
A Level 2 Bronze Grade beasts indeed has the capability to fight with an Intermediate Warrior Martial Artist.
Seeing the Red Sparrow appear, Miguel heard the surprised exclamation of the crowd.
From what he heard from their conversations, this was the first time that Erika had summoned this beast to fight.
Those with skills and experience also realized the level of this beast, which surprised them. Especially the elders and teachers around Miguel.
Victo Hall also had a surprised expression on his face when he saw that she did not summon the Flaming Skull.
Knowing that this day would come, he had especially made extra preparations to better combat her Flaming Skull which terrorize him a year ago.
However, seeing that she summoned and entirely new summon, Victor Hall could not help but frown.
His spear was pointed downwards. His gaze ignored Erika and focused on the gigantic Red Sparrow that was now circling around Erika.
"Attack!"
Erika’s low voice resounded on the stage. The Red Sparrow followed her instructions and immediately used [Wing Dive] towards Victor Hall.
Victor stabbed it with his spear but unfortunately, the Red Sparrow was quick enough to cancel the skill and dodged to the side.
Seeing its movements, even Miguel was slightly impressed.
’It seemed that she had learned her lesson,’ Miguel felt amused as he observed the ongoing battle seriously.
From the looks of it, Erika had also worked hard during the past few days that the had not met.
However, the outcome was already set the moment Erika summoned a Level 2 Bronze Grade beast.
No matter how strong Victor Hall was, he still could not triumphed over the suppression of level and grade
After his shoulder was cut open by the Red Sparrow’s claw, Lumier the referee immediately announced the end of the battle.
Victor Hall was defeated by Erika even before her shield’s time duration was up.
Although this was a different outcome compared to the competition a year ago, the crowd and audience did not react too strongly as they already guessed the outcome of this battle even from the start.
Although Martial Artist were strong at the start due to their powerful combat abilities, everyone knew that a summoner had much more potential in the future.
To get stronger as a Martial Artists was difficult to begin with.
Sooner or later, everyone knew that even the absolute genius of the Martial Artist department would not be able to keep up with the normal grimoire summoner genius.
Hence, when Victor Hall, a Martial Artist was defeated by Erika Red, a summoner, the crowd was not surprised and did not react strongly.
Victor Hall sighed and stood up with a bloody shoulder.
The Red Sparrow returned to Erika’s side, after circling for a little bit. It released an ear piercing shriek, as though announcing its presence to the masses.
Victor Hall with his spear pointed downwards, dripping with his own blood, looked at Erika calmly.
Even though he lost, there was no resentful emotion on his face as he faced Erika and Lumier the referee.
Erika also did not show any emotion as Lumier announced her victory over Victor Hall.
This was only a ’promotional’ battle so there was no need to act happily for it.
However, deep inside her, Erika only had one question in her mind.
’Did Miguel see my performance?’
...
Meanwhile, the person in Erika’s mind had his attention drawn to entirely something else.
After knowing that Erika would win, Miguel no longer bothered watching the battle as he focused on something that was out of his expectation.
’Someone is observing and trying to see-through me?’ Miguel stated as he immediately used [Divine Sense] to scan the surroundings.
With his reputation of not wanting to get spied upon, he was surprised that someone still dared to cast their gaze towards him.
Miguel did not hide his movements and immediately looked left and right, as if searching for the culprit.
His [Divine Sense] was extended to the limit as he tried to capture the person that was spying on him.
The moment he did so, Miguel felt that the spying had vanished out of thin air.
Due to the sea of people around, Miguel had troubled searching for that person.
’Do they have concealment skills as well?’ He thought with a frown.
However, considering his Innate Skill, Miguel did not believe that he would not be able to see through any form of concealment skill.
Even the Grand Patriarch who was believed to be the strongest existence in Blazing City was not able to hide anything from his Innate Skill the [Boundless Sage of Knowledge].
And after he read a lot of knowledge from this world, Miguel also noticed that this skill seemed to have improved and became faster.
As it was not the Grand Patriarch Zuko, his mind churned as he immediately made a conclusion.
’The mastermind!’
