I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 195: Information Broker
The bar was not full of people like what he initially imagined.
There were only a few people drinking at tables present, and only half of them were occupied. Although it was so, the chatter of the people present was still able to make the room lively.
Looking at the waiters loitering around, Miguel walked with Edith and Aaliyah and sat in one corner of the room.
A moment later, a male waiter approached them with an amiable smile.
The waiter greeted them with a smile and handed them the menu, the list were just alcoholic drinks befitting of the establishment.
Miguel took a cursory glance at the menu before saying, "I’d like to buy a candy."
If Maras did not lie, this should be the code for the information broker to appear.
Upon hearing that, the waiter was silent for a few moments before nodding his head.
"Please wait for a few moments, dear guests," he stated before withdrawing from their table.
Miguel watched as he entered a door right behind the bar table.
A few moments later, the waiter returned along with three glasses of blue colored drink.
"This is in the house, dear guests. The one you’re looking for will be here shortly as well," he stated before returning swiftly.
Miguel did not decline and immediately scanned the drink.
After determining that there was no harmful substance mixed with the drinks, he took a sip of it and allowed the two ladies to have a go as well.
Perhaps minding the two ladies beside him, the drinks served to them were mild at best and had no strong alcoholic taste.
Even more so, only Edith enjoyed the drink while Aaliyah put it down after taking a light sip.
A moment later, Miguel saw at the corner of his eye that someone had emerged from the door where the waiter entered earlier.
It was a feminine figure wearing a black robe and a black mask. A standard get up for someone that doesn’t want their identities to get leaked, or known.
The figure walked and sat in front of Miguel and the other two.
Not beating around the bush, the figure looked up and stated, "I did not expect for the esteemed Elder of the Red Family to come here."
"Anyway, what information would you like to buy?"
Miguel was not someone that would dilly dally either.
Suppressing his voice a little, he directly stated his purpose for being here.
"Information about the Dark Snake Assassin group. I want all of them," there was no hesitation in his voice as he said the request.
He was not surprised that the information broker knew of his identity at first glance. It was not a secret, and he was not intentionally hiding it either.
Miguel could have easily seen through the other party’s disguise, but in respect of her profession and intention of not wanting to get identified, Miguel respected it and did not probe any further.
The information broker went silent for a few moments before nodding her head.
"The Dark Snake Assassin group is fairly large in Blazing City. Although I don’t doubt your financial capability, I will still remind you that it will cost a sum if you want all available information about them."
"No problem."
The information broker nodded her head and beckoned for one of the waiters to come over. The waiter brought a drink over for her as she waved her hand to dismiss him. Knowing his place, the waiter left the area after a slight bow.
As she took a sip from the drink, she closed her eyes and chanted deep inside her as a silver-colored grimoire suddenly materialized in front of her at the next instant.
Not wanting to waste time, she waved her hand once again as a set of documents appeared on her hand, in which she flipped through some of the pages before pushing it towards Miguel.
"My source is credible and all information here has been verified by yours truly," she stated with a hint of pride in her voice.
Miguel nodded his head and saw that she was not lying.
He did not worry about being deceived either as he glanced at the stack of documents in his hands, flipping over to the next page after he was done reading the first.
As he was reading the information, the information broker merely observed and said nothing else.
She was not worried that Edler Journey would bail out at the last second either as she wouldn’t be the one losing out if he did so.
She has her own set of connections in Blazing City.
As they say, information was lethal, even more so for misinformation.
While Elder Journey read the documents, she could not help but take a cursory glance at his two companions.
As an information broker, of course, she knew that these two were Elder Journey’s contracted beasts.
She also knew that both of them had the strength of a Gold Grade, their levels unknown, yet, it was estimated that they were at least level 3.
Aside from such information, she also knew some of Elder Journey’s movements in Blazing City during these past few days. As an influential information broker, not only does she has her own connections, she also has her own men that gathers intelligence for her.
She was reputable in Blazing City, especially in the black market side. Her business was flourishing and she was not interested in ruining it by providing false information.
As she was observing both ladies subtly, the two also turned to her and observed her return.
She was immediately taken aback by such an action, and their gazes made her feel like she was being stared by the abyss.
She felt the grade and level suppression hitting her soul, but she suppressed her surging emotions before nodding her head toward both of them. After that, she turned her head away, afraid of offending them.
After a while, she noticed that Elder Journey was already finished reading all the information that was listed in the documents.
Although she was astounded by his fast reading speed, she did not take it to mind too much as she stated, "That would be 5,000 Gold Coins."
Although the price may seem absurd, the information broker, and Miguel did not think so.
An information’s value depends on the credibility, scarcity as well as the situation.
Miguel was obviously in need of this information so he did not bother to haggle.
However, instead of paying immediately, he instead stared at the information broker before saying, "How much Gold Coins for you to delay the information about my visit here?"
Miguel knew the nature of her job too well.
All information broker’s could not be trusted.
One moment they were selling information to you with a smile, the next moment they will be selling your information to others with the same smile.
He knew that after leaving here, there was a high chance that she would inform the Dark Snake Assassin group of his visit.
Although there was only a slim chance, he was not willing to take the risk of being double-crossed like this.
In order to teach a lesson, the operation this time must be swift and successful.
Hearing his words, the information was obviously taken aback. She did not expect Elder Journey to be this straightforward and open minded.
If the others knew of their operations, they would surely rage and might even try to attack her on the spot.
Seeing that Elder Journey was pretty easy going as the rumors say, she did not beat around the bush and immediately answered.
"500 Gold Coins, 5 hours. I can only delay the information by that much," she stated, not holding back with the price at all.
She has a clear gauge of the situation and knew that this was the right amount. If less, it would seem like she was half-hearted with the deal and if she asks more, it would seem like she was taking advantage of the customer either.
Five hundred Gold Coins was just the right price.
"That would be enough," Miguel nodded his head and did not waste any more time. He summoned his grimoire instantly and immediately handed the information a total of 5500 Gold Coins.
For the current Miguel, such an amount was not big, yet not small either.
However, with his abilities, he could easily earn more if he wanted to so he did not feel anything upon paying the information broker such a large sum of money.
After paying the right amount, Miguel and the two ladies by his side immediately stood up from the table.
He did not bother with formalities with the information broker and directly left the establishment.
The information broker looked at their departing figure as she muttered under her breath, "Dark Snake Assassins... what a pity!"
Since Miguel wanted this operation to be swift, he ordered both Aaliyah and Edith to return inside the grimoire for the time being.
He wanted to rush to the location of the Dark Snake Assassin Group and deal with them as soon as possible with [Shadow Step].
The two ladies did not make it hard for him and immediately returned inside his grimoire. However before doing so, they did not forget to leave some reminder that he must summon them immediately the moment he arrived at the place.
Miguel agreed without hesitation as his figure submerged in the shadows.
The moon hung above the sky, illuminating the surroundings.
This night seemed peaceful in the surface, yet it was destined to become bloody a few moments later.
