I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 190: Lurenti, Four Major Clans
After talking with each other for a bit, Miguel understood the gloom that Aaliyah was feeling.
It was indeed terrifying to have an enemy completely lurking in the dark.
However, at the current moment, they could do nothing about it.
Other than becoming stronger and slowly investigating the enemy, there was nothing they could do.
As much as they were in the dark, the same could be said toward their enemy.
At this moment, the enemy did not know that Aaliyah was alive, and they did not know that ’Journey’ was her accomplice.
Both parties were in the dark, but Miguel and the others had a little leverage as they were aware of the enemy’s existence.
For now, they must continue to bid their time.
"Was the Meven Family already here when you were still alive?" Miguel suddenly asked.
Aaliyah nodded her head without hesitation.
"Yes, the Meven Family was one of the subsidiary families in Lurenti Empire during my time."
"I don’t know the exact situation at this moment but during that time, there were a total of five empires in the Eastern Barren Land."
"The Lurenti Empire was one of the four, and it occupied the south easternmost part of Eastern Barren Land."
"Along with the ruling Lurenti, was the Red, Jacob, Cooper and Rose Clan that helped the Lurenti in managing the empire during that time."
"As for the Meven’s, they were but a mere subsidiary family of our Red Clan."
"Even I did not expect for them to now become the ruler of this land, while my Red Clan was now reduced to a mere ’family’, ruling a small place like the Blazing Expanse."
A deep sigh full of sorrow escaped Aaliyah’s lips. Nostalgia was written all over her face, the gloom intensified as she recalled and compared how the Red Clan was compared to its current state. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Miguel nodded his head after hearing her words. He stroked her hair in comfort and stated, "Out of all the Four Major Clans, it seems that only the Red Clan was demoted to become a ’Family’, while the other three remained to be called as Clans."
"Though the four of them were still called the ’Four Major Clans’, one could tell that the influence, power and standing they currently have in the empire was vastly different."
"The subsidiary Meven family has now become the ruler, while the previous ruler, the Lurenti’s is nowhere to be found."
"At least, I haven’t read something about them for now, not even in Alderic, or in the Red Family’s library."
"They were either forgotten, or forcefully destroyed, along with your information," he stated solemnly while comforting Aaliyah.
Hearing that, Edith and Aaliyah also nodded their heads in dismay. Even they could guess as much.
With the information they currently have, it was apparent that the time when Aaliyah existed was not that far from the current time.
After all, there was a lot of information that pointed out that the gap should not be that long.
The biggest lead they have to confirm it was the existence of the current families as well as the Meven Empire that rose around 350 years ago.
With that in mind, the three of them confirmed that Aaliyah and perhaps even the Lurenti’s information were forcefully erased by the unknown enemy lurking in the dark.
And for the Meven family and the other family to flourish while the Red Clan declined, it could possibly mean that they were somehow connected with each other.
There was even a chance that all of them were part of the reason why the Lurenti’s was now replaced by the Meven’s.
And if that were the case, then it could only mean one thing.
"It looks like the enemy that we are searching is lurking deeper than we initially thought," he commented with a smile.
"It is even possible that they are not in the Red Family at this moment. Though, we should still remain vigilant and continue investigating silently," he added as he sat beside the two women.
Aaliyah nodded her head in agreement. She was also suspicious about the rise of the Meven family as well as the fall of the Red Clan.
Upon looking back, she did not recall any cases of the Meven family showing signs of betrayal before.
However, after recalling the internal conflict of the Red Clan, it was indeed possible that there were some matters at play that she was not aware of.
"At this moment, the only leverage we have is that the enemies still don’t know of our existence. Let’s maintain this kind of situation for the time being as we accumulate strength. We cannot rush this, knowing that our enemy may even include the whole Meven Empire."
Aaliyah and Edith nodded their heads in agreement.
"Right, do you know the real reason why the enemy is searching for this necklace? What exactly is it, for them to covet it too much?" Miguel suddenly asked.
It has been some time since Aaliyah revealed that the necklace was the treasure that the bandits were searching for.
However, aside from the fact that it can help calm the wearer’s mind and help them summon their grimoire faster, Miguel still doesn’t know the other functions it had.
He knew that for Aaliyah’s enemy to covet it, the reason should not be as simple as that. There must be a deeper reason for their actions, something that was extremely valuable that her enemy was still trying to get it even after a few years had already passed.
Hearing that, Aaliyah went silent for a moment before sighing.
"To be honest, I truly don’t know why ’they’ want it too much. I made that necklace myself so I know the real value of it. It should not be worth that much, for them to covet it as though it is a heavenly treasure."
"However, if there is really another reason, then I could only assume that they are coveting the materials it is made of instead of the necklace itself and its effects."
As she spoke, a frown gradually formed in Aaliyah’s face, "Come to think of it, the internal conflict and the chaos of the Red Clan only started after I obtained the main material to forge that necklace."
Edith tilted her head to the side in curiosity, "Hmm? Could it be that they are really connected? What kind of material is it anyway?"
