Chapter 186: Formation Inscriptor

[Skill: Formation Inscriptor (Level 1)

Descriptions/Effects: Allows the user to inscribe formation runes of powerful abilities. The skill is very broad and profound. The user’s knowledge is the limit of the skill. Can only create and inscribe low level formation runes.]

Miguel smiled in satisfaction as the skill he had been trying to create for a few days was finally formed.

Although the description and the level of the skill had nerfed it, Miguel was still satisfied about it. Sooner or later, it would level up anyways.

To test its effects, Miguel took the mask created by Aaliyah and tried casting the new skill he just created.

This skill was very special. It was not like the other skills that can be used directly.

To use it, Miguel must inscribe the rune to the surface of an item or an area using his Origin Energy for it to take effect.

After thinking about it, Miguel decided to inscribe a rebound rune on the mask.

This rebound rune can attack the mind of people who maliciously try to peer into his face and try to discern his identity.

He focused his mind and infused a concentrated amount of Origin Energy at the tip of his forefinger, making a carving blade at the tip of his finger. The ability to do such a thing came as a subsidiary skill of the [Formation Inscriptor] skill as at this moment, the ability to freely control the Origin Energy outside of his body was not something that he could do for the time being.

Using the sharp point of the subsidiary skill, Miguel carved a rune at the surface of the mask.

The carving pen made out of the Origin Energy was very sharp.

The mask that was made out of the Volcanic Wyrm’s sales and was supposedly super hard was being carved as though it was butter getting sliced by a searing hot knife.

With Miguel’s elaborate control, he only drew a very shallow mark on the mask’s surface.

His hands moved elegantly as he drew the complicated rune.

His concentration was in full force as the rune was completed a few minutes later.

The rune drawing glowed for a few seconds as the rune drawing floated out of the carved surface. At the next moment, the rune drawing vibrated profusely before it descended to the mask once again.

As the whole mask glowed after the rune descended, Miguel was able to tell that the rebound rune was already in effect and his first use of the skill was a success.

At this moment, Aaliyah, Edith and the Dark Veil Beast had already gathered around him in curiosity.

They were all curious about what he was doing so they inquired what it was.

Miguel revealed without hiding anything. Edith and Aaliyah already knew that he could create a skill at whim so they were not surprised about it.

What they were surprised about was the skill that he created.

In their opinion, it was very powerful and was even comparable to an Innate Skill.

Miguel could understand their reaction. Even in the Immortal Cultivation World, Rune or Formation Inscription was not something that everyone could learn and use.

Curious of its effects, Edith handed her sword that was recently forged by Aaliyah to Miguel and requested for him to put a rune inscription on it as well.

Miguel did not decline and immediately used the skill [Formation Inscriptor] toward it.

As per Edith’s request, the rune that Miguel created was the rune of swiftness. It allowed the sword to ignore air resistance and make it faster while being swung around.

In a battle between equally strong and equally skilled fighters, most of the time, the one who was able to strike first could determine the outcome of the battle.

Although the rune of swiftness was not that much, it would still make a difference in the hands of an expert like Edith who was a master swordswoman.

After the rune was made, Edith brandished the sword in the air and could immediately tell the difference compared to before.

"This is just like a weapon that retained the ability of the beast that it was made from. That skill is very magical," she commented in relish as she brandished and swung the sword in quick succession around her.

She was satisfied with the effect of the skill and asked, "Right, how long do they last?"

Miguel smiled to himself and answered, "If used frequently, then they can only last for a week before the rune disappears. If on standby mode, it can last for a month. I can recharge it with my Origin Energy, though, or we can infuse the item with a Beast core, allowing the rune to draw energy from it, however, it would be quite wasteful of the Beast Core that way."

Edith and Aaliyah nodded their heads in agreement to his words. They also think that it would be a waste to use the Beast Core just like a battery to power the rune inscription.

Anyway, it was already more than enough time for them if it lasts that long even if it was just powered by Miguel’s Origin Energy, so they did not think too much about it.

After her sword, Miguel practiced the inscription skill more times on the other items that Aaliyah had forged, or from the items they already had from the start.

A few hours later, Miguel stood up from his seat and surveyed the surroundings of the basement.

As the basement was basically their base of operation, he planned to secure it even more by making a huge formation made out of countless runes around it.

However, in order to do that, Miguel needed a lot of items. He could not simply squander his Origin Energy in such a huge formation as he knew that it would drain his energy easily due to how massive it was, and from the energy used to maintain it.

If he has a lot of beast cores, he could simply use them as batteries and as a medium to make the formation even more powerful.

However, since he doesn’t have them, Miguel knew that he must search for an alternative.

If it was in the Immortal Cultivation World, Miguel could easily find such alternatives. Unfortunately, Miguel lacked knowledge of such things at this moment as he still had a lot to learn of this world.

’It looks like it’s time to visit the Red Family’s library already,’ he thought to himself as he began walking to the surface of the villa.
