Chapter 180: Dark Veil Beast

"You guys can come out now."

The moment Miguel said that, two streams of light immediately flashed from the grimoire hidden within Miguel’s body as Aaliya and Edith emerged at the same time right beside Miguel.

The two of them immediately looked around in vigilance only to find the corpse of the assassin beneath them.

They then turned to look at the small beast at the same time, their gaze sending shivers toward the beast who was startled that such strong people appeared all of a sudden.

It trembled in fright as it immediately prostrated to the ground, afraid of being attacked by such strong beings.

If it could talk, it would probably curse its previous owner all the way back to his ancestors for making such a foolish action.

How dare he come here with the enemy having this kind of line up?

It was such a bad decision

"Wow, such a cute beast," Edith commented as she knelt in front of it. She took it to her hand without fear and squeezed its body.

"That’s a Dark Veil Beast, they are famous for their abilities that allows them to completely conceal themself or their user," Aaliyah commenterd.

As a summoner in her previous life, she knew a lot of beasts even compared to Edith who lived much longer than her. This was because unlike Martial Artists, summoners need to study other beasts to train their own.

"Are you going to make a contract with it?" Aaliyah asked curiously, seeing how obedient the Dark Veil Beast was acting.

Miguel shook his head.

"I don’t want to waste a summoning page for it. Let it stay this way, if it escapes, then so be it. I can use it for some experience points," he added with a chuckle.

Aaliyah nodded her head.

"It’s a good decision. Dark Veil Beast, although rare, are not actually well-liked by summoners. It’s because they only know how to conceal themselves or conceal some things. Aside from assassins, no Crystal Summoner would want to bind with them as well," she added.

"It’s indeed better to just make it into your experience points."

The Dark Veil Beast shivered in fright upon hearing their words. Afraid that it might offend Miguel, it actually started to cozy up to Edith, acting cute, wanting to gain her affection.

It indeed succeeded as Edith fondly squeezed its cheek area. Although it hurt the Dark Veil Beast, it still acted as if it was enjoying it as well. It was afraid of offending all of them by acting in pain.

Miguel ignored its antics as he viewed the logs in the grimoire.

[Defeated Level 3 Bronze Grade Dark Veil Beast with Outstanding Performance- User is rewarded with 133 Experience Points.]

[Defeated Level 3 Bronze Grade Dark Veil Beast with Outstanding Performance- Grimoire is rewarded with 44 Experience Points.]

[Defeated Intermediate Adept Martial Artist with Outstanding Performance- User is rewarded with 176 Experience Points.]

[Defeated Intermediate Adept Martial Artist with Outstanding Performance- Grimoire is rewarded with 59 Experience Points.]

Seeing the logs, Miguel confirmed another thing.

The grimoire calculates the experience points gained through his Summoner level and not by his cultivation or martial artist level.

At this moment, he was already as strong as Edith who was at Gold Grade Level 5.

If it was her who made the move and defeated the assassin and the Dark Veil Beast earlier, Miguel was sure that they would not receive any experience points due to the difference in levels.

This was also the reason why he told the two of them to stay inside the grimoire as he wanted to confirm if the experience point he gained would be based on his actual strength or from his summoner rank.

Confirming that it was the latter, Miguel thought that he could exploit it so that he could easily rank up his grimoire and his summoner rank.

As for now, he still did not know what was the basis for the performance evaluation, but it should be based on the strength of the opponent they defeated.

If they defeated an opponent much stronger than them, the evaluation would obviously be great.

The grimoire or the World’s Will might have determined that being an Intermediate Elite Rank Summoner was much weaker than an Intermediate Adept Martial Artist and Level 3 Bronze Grade Beast, hence the reason why it evaluated his performance as being outstanding after he defeated them.

This case was indeed rare as most summoners would not focus on strengthening their body like a Martial Artist does.

An Elite Rank Summoner defeating a Bronze Grade Beast was probably very rare and even possibly unheard of.

A cunning smile appeared on his face as he thought of exploiting this loophole.

For now, Miguel put this thought at the back of his mind as he lifted the assassin’s corpse through [Psychokinesis]. He then told Aaliyah to follow him so that they could burn the corpse in the basement, leaving no trace behind.

However, just as he was about to leave the area with the corpse, he suddenly noticed that the Dark Veil Beast was trying to gesture something to him.

Miguel gestured for Edith to let go of it, his interest was piqued in what it wanted to do.

The Dark Veil Beast jumped off of Edith’s hand with a hint of relief showing on its hollowed eyes.

It then pointed at the corpse that was lifted in mid-air, jumped up and down as it expressed to Miguel to let it down.

Miguel understood its intention and felt that it just wanted to help.

Curious, Miguel lowered down the corpse, wanting to see what it would do with it.

The Dark Veil Beast bowed politely toward him.

It then hopped on top of the corpse as its hollowed eyes began to slit into a thin line.

The next moment, black fog began to emerge beneath it.

The black fog began to shroud the corpse, and a whole minute later, the corpse was now fully covered with a thick black smoke from head to toe.

The Dark Veil Beast did not stop there. After the whole corpse got shrouded by the black smoke, its eyes suddenly snapped open once more as the black smoke receded underneath it in extreme speed.

The next moment, a curious sight greeted everyone.

The corpse that was previously there, actually disappeared along with the black smoke.

"Do you know what kind of skill this is?" Miguel turned to Aaliyah and asked.

She obviously knows a lot about the Dark Veil Beast so Miguel was curious about this skill.

A frown appeared on her face after the disappearance of the whole corpse.

She shook her head a moment later and answered, "I haven’t seen a Dark Veil Beast using such a skill before. However, it might be the same as the [Corpse Devouring] of some plant-type beasts."

"Oh? So it’s a new skill? Is it possible that it learned this skill itself?"

Considering its high intelligence, it wouldn’t be strange if it indeed managed to learn a new skill on its own.

Learning a new skill was possible for every beast. It only depends on their capabilities and compatibility with the said skill.

After the whole corpse disappeared, the Dark Veil Beast also laid in the ground exhausted. It seems that using such a skill was draining for it as well.

A second later, Miguel realized that it had fallen into a deep sleep. He thought that this should be an aftereffect of using that skill.

Miguel chuckled as he found the little beast interesting.

If it was indeed talented and has a lot of potential, then he would not mind contracting with it in the future.

For now, though, let the situation stay the way it was.

Edith picked up the small Dark Veil Beast and carried it cutely like a baby. She then put it in a safe place right outside the master’s room.

Since his reading session was interrupted, Miguel decided to call it a day as well.

He closed his eyes and used [Divine Sense] to see if there were more intruders around the villa.

He and the two women then returned to the master’s room and cuddled together to sleep.

The next morning, each of them woke up early.

They traveled down to the basement as Edith picked up the now awake Dark Veil Beast, bringing it along the basement to train.

As a martial artist, it has already become her habit to train daily so that she would not lose her touch.

However, since she could now use her skills easily as a beast, she actually did not have to train daily anymore.

However, Edith realized that the way she executed her skills had some delay to it, hence, she wanted to begin training once more in order not to disappoint Miguel during an important battle.

Miguel was also the same. He also needed to practice martial arts once more and let this new body get accustomed to his movements through thoughts.

With this in mind, the two of them decided to have a friendly spar.
