I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 583 - 427
Seeing this, the Croupier reached for the cards in front of Xia Liang, preparing to collect them.
But a roar suddenly interrupted her.
"Wait!"
The speaker was Luo Ying. At that moment, his eyes flew wide open, staring intently at the five face-up cards in front of Xia Liang’s seat. His face was pale, and his forehead was breaking out in a cold sweat. His body began to tremble uncontrollably, and he could barely keep his seat.
Wu Tong and Lin Tian, who were beside him, were alarmed. Thinking something was wrong, they quickly asked what was the matter. But Luo Ying’s gaze never wavered. He continued to stare at the five cards as the image of Xia Liang making his selections flashed through his mind.
"Not this one, nor this one!"
Xia Liang had picked five times, discarding five cards to the side. Now, all five of those cards were turned face-up. They were identical to the ones Luo Ying had hidden up his sleeve.
Luo Ying shook his head, murmuring in a voice only he could hear. So, Master Xia had foreseen everything all along.
"Luo Ying, what’s wrong with you? Just because Master Xia guessed one card right, you don’t have to look so terrible," Lin Tian said with a laugh, thinking Luo Ying had simply been frightened by Xia Liang.
Wu Tong also found it strange. Although she thought it was impressive that Xia Liang could predict which card Luo Ying had, it surely wasn’t enough to make him lose his wits like this.
Luo Ying took several deep breaths. The color still hadn’t returned to his face, but he was finally able to speak. He let out a self-deprecating laugh.
"To think I dared to doubt Master Xia’s abilities. How ridiculous of me, Boss Lin." Luo Ying looked toward Lin Tian.
"What is it?" Lin Tian asked, his curiosity piqued.
Luo Ying slowly continued, "You can keep my one-Yuan reward; give it to Master Xia for me. In fact, I’ll add another five Yuan. Please help me... no, never mind. I should apologize to Master Xia in person later."
"What’s gotten into you? You, the Haojiang Little Gambling Sage, a man who cherishes money as much as life itself, suddenly wants to bleed money?" Lin Tian couldn’t understand what had happened to Luo Ying.
It was only then that Luo Ying slowly rolled up his sleeves, revealing the mechanism he had hidden underneath.
"You brat, you pull this stuff in my casino?" Lin Tian was taken aback when he saw the device, and his tone turned cold. "I don’t care what tricks you use in your private games, but you’re using them here? Do you still consider me a friend?"
But Luo Ying just shook his head. "I wasn’t planning on wearing it. I only put it on after I heard you invited a master, hoping I might be able to expose him."
With that, Luo Ying hooked a transparent thread with his pinky finger. Five cards shot out from the mechanism and landed in his hand. Without needing any explanation, Lin Tian and Wu Tong instantly understood what Luo Ying had been planning.
This time, it was their turn to be stunned. As the purpose of Luo Ying’s mechanism dawned on them, looks of renewed shock appeared on their faces.
"No matter what card Master Xia guessed, you could have replaced it with another," Wu Tong exclaimed.
"Exactly," Luo Ying nodded.
Lin Tian stroked his chin as if he had figured something out. "No wonder Master Xia didn’t just name the card. He chose from another deck so you wouldn’t know whether to swap yours! I can’t believe he even calculated for that... Damn, I’ve really met an Immortal."
Lin Tian was on the verge of tears, but Luo Ying just chuckled dismissively. "If you think it ends there, then you’re still underestimating Master Xia."
Hearing this, Lin Tian and Wu Tong froze and exchanged a look, not understanding what he meant.
Luo Ying paid them no mind and continued to manipulate his fingers, drawing the remaining cards out from his hidden device. He then flipped all five cards over, tossing them onto the table one by one.
Looking at the cards, Lin Tian was still utterly bewildered. He turned to Wu Tong. "Miss Wu Tong, I think Master Xia scared him silly. Do you think we should... Miss Wu Tong? Why do you look so stupefied, too? I’ve never heard of foolishness being contagious."
Just as he looked over, Lin Tian froze. Wu Tong was also staring intently at the cards Luo Ying had produced, her eyes wide, completely dumbfounded. She had glanced at the cards Xia Liang had discarded earlier and had casually memorized them. So when Luo Ying flipped over the cards he had hidden, she instantly understood.
Xia Liang hadn’t just deduced that Luo Ying had a device; he knew exactly which cards were hidden inside it, down to the last one.
"Does anyone else know what these cards are?" Wu Tong asked Luo Ying, swallowing hard, her expression one of utter shock.
Luo Ying shook his head seriously. "I chose these five cards at random before I left home. Besides me, absolutely no one knew what they were."
Hearing this, Wu Tong took another deep breath. She pulled out her phone and looked at Lin Tian, who was still watching them in a state of confusion.
"Boss Lin, where did this Master Xia come from?"
"Master Xia should be from Qingyun City, but he came to Haojiang from Jinling. What’s wrong with you two? Why did you both suddenly become so foolish?"
Wu Tong didn’t answer Lin Tian. Instead, she stood up and dialed the number of a celebrity she knew in Jinling.
