I Become a Landlady in the Game World-Chapter 761 - 381: Troops Approach the City_3
What on earth is going on???
Wolf felt a pang of anxiety.
Looking at the protective wall in front of him, Wolf couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a man-eating monster.
Because of this low wall, his view was completely blocked, preventing him from making timely and correct decisions.
"Bang!"
While Wolf was pondering, he suddenly saw a signal flare behind the ranks of Hope Village.
Seeing the flare and its intended message, Wolf’s pupils shrank.
That position... How could that be?
And does Aiden mean... to tell him to retreat?
Yes, the signal flare was sent by Aiden.
After successfully breaking into the ranks of Hope Village, Aiden had planned to try to make his way to where Wolf and his forces were attacking, according to the original plan.
But once inside, Aiden realized that the situation was no longer under their control.
They were trapped by a group of Beastmen and Human Soldiers.
Even more so, during the attacks and defenses, they were moving further and further from the position they had originally entered, getting further and further from where their Lord was.
What concerned him even more, after moving increasingly farther from the defensive line, was the clear view of the distribution of Hope Village’s combat power.
It turned out that from the beginning to the end, the area they had broken through was just one region of Hope Village’s defense line. When they concentrated their attack on this area, the two adjacent areas would dispatch some mobile support, which moved accordingly as they did, always maintaining a certain range. This meant that when they attacked a region on the front, at least half of the forces were defending, while the rest were quickly following siege weapons, launching relentless attacks on the walls of Fasal Village.
As for the more than a thousand Mages mentioned before by the Lord, there was also an issue.
There were indeed more than a thousand Mages taking turns protecting the siege weapons, but who could have expected that these Mages would immediately switch to a Professional of the Physical Skill System and join the frontlines of Combat?
This also meant that these Mages were all Dual-class Professionals, equipped with both Physical Strength and Magic Power systems. As long as their Life Value was not under threat, they could take turns in battle.
More than a thousand intermediate Dual-class Professionals.
Wasn’t the strength of the Hope Village Soldiers a bit too formidable???
And Aiden, realizing this, was filled with alarm and concern but more so, he was prepared to try to warn their own Lord.
If the Lord still harbored the idea of entering Hope Village’s defense line to wreak havoc, the end result could be Hope Village gradually wearing down their strength.
Luckily, he had some signal flares in his backpack.
They were prepared for unforeseen needs, and as it turned out, they were indeed handy.
Having made up his mind, Aiden started looking for an opportunity.
The reason he needed to find the opportunity was that he was entangled by a Beastman and was retreating step by step under the enemy’s attacks.
Although he had long heard about the formidable physical quality of the Beastmen, unbeatable in both offense and defense compared to their peers, it wasn’t until he actually faced one that Aiden realized the truth in those words.
His attacks had no effect on the Beastman in front of him.
Even more so, the enemy kept a very tight watch on every move he made, making it virtually impossible to do anything under their watchful eyes.
Then, the only thing left was to get away from them.
Thinking this, Aiden intentionally did not defend himself when the Beastman charged at him once more.
And so, a massive force collided with him, sending Aiden flying.
After being thrown, Aiden watched in horror as his Life Value dropped by half in an instant.
After crashing to the ground heavily, he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
Ignoring everything else, he took this opportunity to take out the signal flare and shoot it towards the sky.
As he fired the flare, Aiden only heard a voice exclaim, "How dare you," then a great weight pressed down upon him, a sharp pain pierced his chest, and he quickly lost consciousness.
In that extremely brief moment, Aiden’s consciousness was extraordinarily clear.
He knew he was going to die.
His death would be a worthy one, true to the trust the Lord had always placed in him.
Finally, hearing the "bang," he let his consciousness sink into the darkness, calming as it faded away.
Meanwhile, Aiden’s Beastman opponent, O’Neill, felt frustrated upon realizing his prey had breathed its last.
The man was dead, but the message had been sent.
He had genuinely not expected the opponent to use his own life as a stake for the chance to send a message.
But on reflection, if the Lord had needed him to, he probably would have been willing too.
With a snort, O’Neill continued attacking other Soldiers and pressing forward.
Aiden’s death was a severe blow to the morale of his troops; many Soldiers began to feel panic within their hearts, and before they knew it, they were pushed out of their original positions.
"Watt, Aris, I’m leaving this group to you. If they refuse to surrender, kill them all!" O’Neill, seeing Watt and Aris coming with their troops to support him, passed the control to them the moment they arrived.
After the handover, he hurried to the frontlines with his troops.
Since Aiden had sent out a message, the situation at the front must have changed.
Indeed, by the time O’Neill returned to his original position, Wolf had already decisively led his forces to retreat.
"I’m sorry, Lieutenant Colonel Li, I let the message get out," O’Neill apologized, slapping himself hard in front of Li Xingteng.
"Where is he?"
"Dead," O’Neill replied, then explained the situation.
Li Xingteng was silent for a moment, then said, "It’s all right. Such an outcome is also within our contingency plans. The battlefield changes in an instant; nothing proceeds precisely as we plan it."
"They’re retreating, what do we do now?" O’Neill asked instinctively.
"Advance the line, keep attacking the wall," Li Xingteng ordered sharply. After all, their initial plan was just two words: fierce attack.
Now that the opponents had retreated, it was their time to advance.
As he gave the order, his standard-bearers immediately began to direct the flags among the troop formations.
Relying on the flags, the message spread, and quickly other formations’ flag bearers performed the same gestures.
Immediately, all personnel on the scene uniformly began to push their original defensive line forward.
Closer and closer it moved towards the walls of Fasal Village until there was no gap left between the two.
The true siege was upon them.
