I Became the Villain's Trainer-Chapter 72
Chapter 72
* * *
Alexa, Ysildus, and Terrun took the lead, followed closely by Essellia. At the festival, Ysildus and Terrun were particularly drawn to food, and they moved slowly because they tried all kinds of street food.
“Try it, Alexa. It’s delicious.”
Ysildus stuffed the round meatball into Alaexa’s mouth. As she bit into it, the meatball’s juices oozed out.
“It’s delicious, right?”
“Mmm!”
Alexa nodded enthusiastically. There’s something about eating at places like this that makes the food taste delicious. Seeing that Alexa liked it, Terrun also offered her some of his own.
“This is delicious too.”
Terrun handed her a thin slice of fried meat. Of course, it’s meat – he’s such a carnivore. Alexa glanced at the fruit skewer in her hand and chuckled.
As she chewed on the fried meat, Alexa scanned the surroundings, searching for one thing in particular – chicken skewers. It was her suggestion, which Visten and Carlisle had agreed to!
“Ah! There it is!”
Ysildus and Terrun looked to the direction Alexa pointed to, looking like puppies with their ears perked up. Essellia also followed Alexa’s gaze.
‘Ah, that place.’
Essellia knew that Carlisle and Visten had put a lot of effort into this. What was it they said? Something about chicken skewers for Alexa. Luckily, it seemed their efforts were well worth it, as Alexa appeared to be thoroughly enjoying herself. This was the first deal with the Blue Moon.
The Blue Moon had promised to handle all the goods needed by Thersion and had signed a contract to manage external communications. From now on, Thersion would expand its dealings with humans through the Blue Moon Guild. This was an achievement that no one had accomplished in centuries.
The wolves of Thersion had never even considered interacting with humans. It was hard to pinpoint exactly what had sparked this change. Perhaps it was the escalating tyranny of the Emperor, or maybe Alexa’s influence had played a part. The very idea that a human was now part of Carlisle’s plans was astonishing. And that wasn’t all.
Essellia watched Alexa, who was excitedly running ahead. Alexa could sometimes be as playful as a child, yet at other times, she was profoundly mature. Watching her, Terrun and Ysildus slowed their pace to match hers. This was another change Alexa had brought about in the children.
Wolves are pack animals, but they aren’t known for taking care of weaker members within the group. If you fall behind, you die. Yet, Terrun and Ysildus were now eager to look after Alexa.
‘It’s really amazing.’
Essellia smiled as she watched Alexa return with chicken skewers in both hands.
“Your Grace, these are really delicious. They taste just as I expected.”
Alexa offered one to Essellia, saying it was for her. Such gestures were uncommon among wolves, yet Alexa did them so naturally. Essellia took a bite of the skewer, glancing at her son, who had never shown an ounce of affection.
“Thank you, Alexa. They’re really delicious! You don’t need to worry about the business.”
“Thank you for your words.”
“Thanks to you, Thersion will be able to accumulate wealth once again. I heard that Blue Moon Guild plans to introduce these chicken skewers to other local festivals.”
“That’s great!”
Just as Alexa said, the chicken skewers were tasty. The lightly smoked meat was juicy, and the seasoning on the outside perfectly complemented it.
“Terrun, Ysildus, delicious, right?”
Both wolves nodded vigorously. They had apparently bought every chicken skewer available, their hands full. Alexa grinned as she bit into her skewer. It was certainly different from the mediocre flavors of university festivals. This tasted like the work of a true artisan – a result of Alexa’s idea and the collaboration of Carlisle and Visten.
The Blue Moon emblem on the stall’s canopy caught her eye. The Blue Moon Guild had responded positively to Thersion’s proposal for the chicken skewer business. What was surprising was that the head of the Blue Moon Guild was personally acquainted with Carlisle. Alexa had been present when they signed the contract. Carlisle introduced her as the one who had made the deal possible. The head of the guild looked at Alexa with surprise but quickly accepted the situation. When Alexa saw him in person, she couldn’t help but be taken aback by his appearance.
‘He really doesn’t look like a human.’
Even Alexa could sense it. The head of the Blue Moon Guild had good reason to maintain an air of mystery. According to the original story, the Blue Moon consisted of beings from a dark race, which was why they seemed well-suited to collaborate with Thersion. Carlisle had taken Alexa’s advice and chosen Blue Moon. That day, Alexa saw Armus in person for the first time.
It truly felt like she was in a fantasy world. Armus and Carlisle had made what they called the ‘Pact of Brotherhood’. This pact, protected by the Wolf God, was a form of magic that severely punished anyone who broke it.
If either party were to betray the other, their soul would be dragged to the afterlife by the Wolf God’s fangs. Alexa recalled Armus’s dark blue skin.
[‘It’s surprising enough that a human is here, but to have convinced Carlisle? What are you, exactly?’]
[‘If you try to scare Alexa, you’ll lose every last one of your teeth.’]
Even Carlisle’s subtle threatening was surprising. Fortunately, Armus simply laughed off Carlisle’s words. It was a tense moment, no doubt about it. Yet, one thing lingered in memory – Armus’ gaze.
‘It really seemed like he was going to attack me.’
It’s really surprising for their race to be selling skewers at this place. Alexa glanced up at the Blue Moon Guild. The people selling the chicken skewers must have been from the same race... but they are entirely human.
“They’re of the dark race.”
Ysildus said, assuming that Alexa didn’t know. Amused by Ysildus’ attempt to teach her something, Alexa also asked him back.
“The dark race?”
“Elves, specifically the dark kind.” Ysildus explained in more detail, “Wolves also came from the dark race, and so are they. But although they both came from the dark race, they smell strange.”
“Oh, so you can tell by their scent. Do humans smell too?”
“It’s terrible.”
Terrun was the one who answered. Terrun frowned when Alexa looked somewhat offended by his answer. Alexa sniffed herself while holding the skewer she had just finished. Watching Alexa, Ysildus corrected him.
“Not terrible, just unfamiliar, right, Terrun? Are you saying that Alexa smells terrible?”
Terrun’s eyes widened and shook his head, “Alexa smells nice!”
“Alexa, I don’t think that’s what he meant. You don’t need to worry about it.”
Ysildus said with a sly smile, subtly indicating that while Terrun might think that way, he certainly didn’t. Realizing Ysildus’ intention, Terrun glared at him, seething with anger.
‘That despicable devil!’
Whether he was a beast or a human, nothing about him changes. Terrun tried to explain.
“It was unfamiliar at first, that’s why it seemed terrible. But it’s fine now; you smell nice.”
Watching Terrun’s animated gestures as he tried to explain, Alexa burst into laughter. She knew that to wolves, human scents could indeed seem strange. With such keen noses… it was only natural. The thought just crossed her mind.
The Thersion are wolves. And humans are always afraid of the unknown. If the Thersion revealed themselves as wolves and entered politics, humans would likely feel uneasy.
Of course, it was the same for the wolves. Could they, with their sensitive noses, mingle with humans whom they were supposed to govern? Moreover, wolves, especially those associated with the Imperial Family, harbored deep resentment toward humans.
‘Is this really alright?’
Alexa shook her head to clear her mind of such thoughts.
‘I’ll think about this later!’
The future is still far off, and right now, they’re enjoying the festival. She reassured Terrun, who was struggling to describe in simple words how pleasant her scent was.
“It’s alright, Terrun. I understand what you mean.”
“Really?”
“Really.”

When Alexa nodded, Ysildus, who had been playing the role of the protective older brother, chimed in.
“Alexa is kind and understanding. If it were me, I wouldn’t play with you.”
“Ysildus, don’t make fun of Terrun.”
As he was reprimanded by Alexa, Ysildus tilted his head as if he didn’t do anything wrong. With the skewers finished, they headed to the bustling stalls filled with things to see.
“Alexa, buy whatever you need. I have to attend to some business there for a bit.”
“Yes?”
At Essellia’s words, Alexa looked up at her. Essellia’s eyes were shining as she stared at a stall selling weapons. She handed Alexa a pouch full of gold coins and then disappeared.
“We’ll protect you!”
“Just trust us.”
Terrun and Ysildus said in turn, reassuring her that they would be fine without Essellia.
