I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 98: Proven in Five Seconds
Her words sounded gentle, but the meaning was clear. She was indirectly pointing at Rilik.
Rilik froze for a second, caught off guard. The moment he realized Roxanna was talking about him, he immediately shut his mouth.
The hut fell quiet.
Rilik’s face tightened, but he couldn’t find any words to fight back. Roxanna didn’t raise her voice, yet her calm words hit harder than a slap.
Commander Marlow crossed his arms, clearly pleased. "Now you understand?" Marlow said coldly. "This is exactly why you weren’t chosen."
In the end, Rilik could only stay silent in embarrassment. He didn’t even have the courage to argue back, not after Roxanna and Marlow shut him down so completely.
Not long after, the system suddenly sent a notification.
[Ding! Ding!]
[Congratulations, Host! Side Mission Complete: Appoint a Commander who possesses true strength of body, mind, and heart.]
[Reward:
Emergency Command Seal (One-Time Use) — Effect: Your order cannot be refused.
+17,000 Spirit Points (SP)]
[Total Spirit Points (SP): 65,700]
[Ding! Zeir’s affection increased by 5%]
Oh, her Spirit Points had increased even more now. It seemed like she could finally stock up on seasonings, and maybe buy something good too, like... soda? Did the system’s market even sell soda?
Sadly, Roxanna didn’t have time to think about it, because Rilik suddenly started making a scene again.
"No, no! I can’t accept this!" Rilik shouted. "How could you not choose a Commander based on strength?!" He pointed sharply. "Zeir barely moved during the battle! So why does he deserve to become the commander?"
Roxanna let out a soft sigh. [Is his brain really that dense? Didn’t I already explain that I’m not choosing them based only on strength?]
[Honestly... maybe it would be easier if Zeir just knocked him out right now, so I wouldn’t have to listen to his nonsense anymore.]
Only a moment after Roxanna thought that, Zeir suddenly spoke. "Do you want to fight here?" he asked calmly. "Maybe we can see if you would survive on the battlefield if the Leader didn’t choose the top five who lasted until the end."
Rilik’s face darkened. He felt like Zeir was insulting him. That was why, without hesitation, he snapped back, "Why not?! Come here! I’ll show you that I can definitely beat you if the fight doesn’t suddenly stop again!"
Azul, who had been quietly watching from the side, shook his head. To him, Rilik was being completely stupid.
"Please, don’t fight inside—"
Roxanna hadn’t even finished her sentence, but Rilik had already run toward Zeir. He threw a punch at the lizard, and in a split second, Zeir grabbed Rilik’s hand and pressed the pressure point on his neck.
In less than five seconds, his body went stiff and then he collapsed like a broom that had been standing upright for too long.
His eyes were shut tightly, and instead of looking injured, he honestly looked like he had simply fallen asleep.
"Damn it, Rilik!" Haka shouted his name, sounding full of worry.
Zeir stayed calm. "Don’t worry. He’s fine," he said. "I only put him to sleep. He’ll wake up again in a few hours."
In a way, what Zeir did also looked like a humiliation ritual. After all, Rilik definitely wouldn’t remember what happened to him and would feel furious because he suddenly ended up in bed.
Roxanna blinked several times, then spoke a bit hesitantly. "W-Well... I guess that settles it!" she said. "We’ve all seen that Zeir truly deserves to become our Commander, right?"
Haka, who had doubted Zeir earlier, finally nodded. "Yes, Leader," he said seriously. "Now I understand why you chose him."
After that, no one dared to protest anymore. Before Roxanna dismissed everyone and told them to return to their huts, she asked Haka and Cyrus to carry Rilik back home.
"I’ll wait for you at the training ground tomorrow, Zeir," Commander Marlow said as he patted Zeir’s shoulder a few times.
Zeir nodded. "I won’t be late."
Since there was nothing else to discuss, they finally parted ways. Roxanna let Azul return to their hut first, while she asked Zeir to walk around the settlement with her for a while.
"You did really well in the tournament," Roxanna said.
But the moment the system’s mission popped up in her mind again, her face turned red.
"It’s not like I’m being biased," she added quickly, "but honestly... you were the first person I wanted to appoint as Commander."
Zeir looked at her. "Why?"
They stopped walking for a moment near a black hut that nobody lived in. The place was quiet, almost too quiet.
"Because I believe you’re more than capable of being a commander," Roxanna said. "I can see it clearly."
Roxanna sat down on a large stone, while Zeir sat on the ground without hesitation. Even though he had been fighting on the battlefield all day, he still didn’t look tired at all.
Maybe it was because on the battlefield, Zeir didn’t waste energy. He often waited for his enemies to come to him, and he didn’t even need to move much to knock them out.
"Then I hope I won’t ruin your expectations of me," Zeir said.
Roxanna chuckled. "You won’t." Then she added warmly, "I’m sure my Zeir can become a great commander easily."
My Zeir.
It was the first time she had ever said those words out loud.
It meant Roxanna had truly accepted all of her husbands as hers, not just in name, but in her heart as well, including the husband everyone called the most boring one.
Honestly, Roxanna had never thought Zeir was boring. But Zeir seemed to believe it himself. After all, he was the quietest among them, and he wasn’t as playful as Calen.
That was why Zeir had already prepared himself for the possibility that Roxanna might not love him as much as she loved the others.
But in the end, it seemed Roxanna would always try her best to love them equally.
"Zeir," Roxanna said softly, "there’s actually something I want to talk to you about."
Zeir lifted his head so he could look straight at her. "What is it?"
Roxanna bit her lower lip, clearly hesitant. Then she finally said, "I just want to say that... I’ve kissed all of my husbands, except you."
She quickly added, as if worried he might misunderstand. "It’s not like I’m trying to force you or anything," she said, her voice gentle. "But if you want to... I would like to give you a kiss too."
