I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 54: The Elephant That Wasn’t There
As soon as Luan reached the ground, the first thing he did was smack the back of Calen’s head with his paw.
He was beyond annoyed—no, he had almost gotten a heart attack when he saw Calen and Roxanna jump off the cliff like that. Moreover, he had no idea that Zeir and Azul were right below the cliff, preparing something to save them.
"What the hell was that for?!" Calen yelled as soon as Luan shifted back into his human form.
Luan clicked his tongue, and instead of answering him, he smacked Calen’s head several more times.
"Hey! Stop it!" Calen pushed him away, but it was more of a playful shove than a real one.
In the end, Zeir had to pull Luan away so they would stop smacking each other’s heads.
"Don’t fight so often," Zeir said calmly. "If one of you dies, the other will cry blood."
Hearing Zeir’s words only made Luan want to beat the shit out of Calen even more.
[They’re so cute together like this.] Roxanna watched from the side, smiling softly as she slowly stepped back.
[If they want to drive me away from the settlement... at least they’ll be together. And it’s because they choose to be, not because of the seal crystals anymore.]
The moment that thought crossed her mind, all of them froze.
Gone? Gone where?
[Maybe... it would be better if I left on my own rather than waiting for them to drive me away because they think I’m a dangerous mimic.]
Who even cared about a mimic?! They didn’t even care if the mimic truly had killed the evil Roxanna and replaced her!
"Where are you going?" Luan caught her hand before she could move too far away. "There are still demon wolves around this area."
"Aren’t you cold?" Azul took off his top and wrapped it around Roxanna’s bare body.
[Damn it! I only just realized I’ve been naked this whole time!] Roxanna immediately hugged herself and lowered her head in embarrassment.
[They... they’ve been looking at me this whole time, right?!]
She glanced around and saw her husbands doing their best not to look at her, finally realizing that she hadn’t been wearing anything all along.
Zeir also removed his upper clothing and wrapped it around Roxanna’s waist to cover her lower body.
"It’s going to get colder," Zeir rubbed his hands together and pressed his warm skin gently against Roxanna’s cheek. "Let’s go home."
Go home?
But... hadn’t she just admitted to Calen that she wasn’t the evil Roxanna, even if she hadn’t said it directly?
On top of that, Luan had also said that he knew she wasn’t the Roxanna he remembered.
With all that, shouldn’t they have driven her out of the settlement? Shouldn’t they have thought she was a dangerous mimic?
[Shouldn’t they kill me now?] Roxanna was confused, even more so when Zeir and Azul held her hands while Luan gently pushed her from behind, guiding her toward the settlement.
Calen hadn’t spoken much and still looked dazed by everything that had just happened. Sometimes, he touched his neck, as if he still couldn’t believe he had truly gained his freedom without being dragged back into the abyss.
Cyrus didn’t say anything either, but he stayed close to Calen, clearly making sure he wouldn’t run away again.
[W-We’re really going home?]
Roxanna couldn’t believe it. She had never thought she would be able to return to their new home after all that batshit craziness.
[Are they really just going to stay quiet like this? Should I tell them that I’m not the evil Roxanna?]
Once her adrenaline rush faded, she found that she no longer had the courage to do it.
[But I need to address the elephant in the room now!]
Calen frowned, wondering what elephant she was talking about. They were outside, not inside a room.
"I-I need to tell you something." Roxanna suddenly stopped, causing all of her husbands to stop as well. "We can’t just walk home like nothing bad happened earlier."
Even if they didn’t talk about her identity, at the very least, they needed to talk about the terrible things Calen had done earlier because apparently, they had never truly talked about something like this.
[I need to chase the elephant out of the room!]
Now Calen was even more confused. Where was the elephant?!
Azul raised an eyebrow. "We can just forget about that."
"What? No! We can’t just forget bad things like that!" Roxanna said firmly. "We need to talk it out!"
All of them looked at her as if she had just grown a second head. Honestly, it was rare for them to talk about their feelings with each other.
They weren’t even very open about their pasts, except for how they ended up in the Vixeria Tribe. Calen had talked about his past before, but it was a once-in-a-blue-moon thing, and usually only when he had lost his mind like earlier.
Azul barely remembered his past, while the others thought their pasts weren’t that important.
Roxanna wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t want to talk about their pasts, but at the very least, they couldn’t just brush things off every time something bad happened between them.
However, her husbands didn’t seem to understand what she was trying to do.
"Alright. First... how about we talk about my confession earlier?" Roxanna looked at Calen, Cyrus, and Luan, who had been at the top of the cliff before.
"What confession?" Luan narrowed his eyes, looking like he was ready to murder someone, thinking Roxanna had confessed her love to one of them earlier.
"About... my change in behavior?" Roxanna lowered her voice and bowed her head, unable to look at them.
Her fox ears and tail drooped, making her look extremely pitiful.
"Like I said before, I’ve already forgotten your old behavior," Azul spoke up for the first time. "Fish memory."
"I believe people can change," Calen added.
"You’ve been trying to be better," Zeir said. "That’s what matters."
"The past is the past," Cyrus said. "Let it stay buried."
"I didn’t notice anything," Luan said with crossed arms.
"Liars!" Roxanna’s face turned red as she finally realized that her husbands had only been pretending not to notice that she wasn’t the evil Roxanna.
