I Became The Tower Master-Chapter 12 - : Negotiations with the General
Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Negotiations with the General
The military plane touched down at a heavily fortified base, its walls lined with soldiers and defensive turrets. Alden and Hiroshi were escorted off the plane, their every move watched closely by the armed guards. Despite the tension, Alden remained calm, his mind already working on the next steps of his plan.
As they were led into the base, Hiroshi leaned over to Alden, his voice low. "What's going on? Why are they bringing us here?"
Alden gave a small shrug, his expression carefully neutral. Maybe they want to throw us a welcome party with cake and balloons, he thought sarcastically. "They want to talk. Let's see what they have to say."
They were brought to a meeting room, where a high-ranking soldier stood waiting. His sharp eyes studied them intently as they entered.
"Welcome," the soldier said, his voice calm but commanding. "Follow me. General Nakamura wants to speak with you."
Alden raised an eyebrow, his tone polite but firm. "It's been a long day. We're tired and need rest. Can we continue this discussion tomorrow? And if possible, we'd appreciate a laptop as well."
The soldier seemed taken aback by Alden's directness. After a moment, he spoke into his radio, requesting permission. There was a brief pause before he received a response. He nodded curtly.
"Very well. I'll have someone show you to your quarters. We'll reconvene in the morning."
Alden was led to a small but comfortable room, complete with a bed, a desk, and a laptop. As soon as the door closed behind him, he fired up the laptop and began scanning the news.
The situation was dire. Many countries had descended into chaos, their governments unable to contain the monsters. Japan, while still standing, was teetering on the edge. The military had managed to maintain some semblance of order, but the streets were overrun with monsters, and survivors were growing desperate.
Alden's eyes narrowed as he read through the reports. That confirms Hiroshi's finding that the monsters roaming around the world are capped at Level 10. I hope this cap doesn't increase or change.
He closed the laptop and lay down on the bed, his mind racing. Tomorrow's meeting will be crucial. I need to make sure to build a base and power that I could control.
The next day, after waking up and having breakfast, Alden and Hiroshi were brought to a meeting room. General Nakamura was already there, his expression calm but serious.
"I hope you had a good rest," the General said, gesturing for them to sit. "Now, let's talk. Who are you, and what are your intentions?"
Alden leaned back in his chair, his tone casual but firm. "Before we answer, let's establish something. You need us more than we need you. So, I'd appreciate it if you mind your tone."
The General's eyes narrowed, but he said nothing. Hiroshi, meanwhile, shifted uncomfortably in his seat, clearly unsure of how to handle the situation.
Alden continued, his voice steady. "We're climbers from the tower. Hiroshi here is one of the strongest, and I'm his strategist. We're here to help, but on our terms."
The General studied Alden for a moment, then nodded. "Very well. What are your terms?"
Alden leaned forward, his eyes gleaming. "We'll clean up the monsters in the streets, but in return, we need our requests to be met.
"First, Resources." This should cover the money part.
"Second, Information and Intelligence." Access to other climbers' info gives us an advantage to either recruit or get rid of a potential threat.

"Third, A Facility." We need a base of operations, basically a guild building.
"Fourth, Legal and Administrative Support." We're forming a guild, and we need it to be officially recognized.
"Fifth, Public Support." We need to get Hiroshi's hero complex satisfied, and public support will be crucial for recruitment and morale.
The General raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed by Alden's thoroughness. One is the brains and one is the muscle, he thought.
The General leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "And what do you plan to do with this guild?"
Alden responded with a grin, "You see, Hiroshi here is a SSS skill holder who has endless potential. We're talking about someone who can take down a monster with one hand tied behind his back and still have time to save a cat from a tree. We need to advertise him as the hero he truly is."
The General nodded slowly, his mind clearly racing. "And what's in it for us?"
"You get a world free of monsters," Alden said, his voice calm but firm. "And we keep control on climbers."
The General studied Alden for a moment, then nodded. "Very well. I'll see what I can do. But understand this if you betray our trust, there will be consequences."
Alden's lips curled into a faint smile. "Understood."
as they left the meeting room, General Nakamura's mind raced. Perfect. We could use them for our current crisis. Let's gauge their capabilities first before jumping the gun. This world is changing way too fast for someone my age. Sigh.
The General turned to his aide and ordered, "Write down all their requests and send them to the higher-ups for approval." He then added under his breath, I hope nothing spirals out of control.
