I became the God Brother of the Regent King after Transmigration!-Chapter 64 - 61: Stunned (Part 2)
The man with the broken leg spoke incredibly fast.
Why did an unfamiliar perpetrator suddenly appear——
Gu Lan frowned, not quite satisfied with this explanation, and asked, "What’s the relationship between Qian Zhao and Qian Rui?"
"Young Master Rui is the youngest son of the Qian Family, and Qian Zhao is the eldest. He’s also the Chief at the West Gate. We usually report to him, and I only agreed to do this out of a moment of folly."
Gu Lan murmured, "So, there’s not a single good person in the Qian Family."
"Are you saying Qian Zhao sent you to kill me because of the Second Prince?"
"Exactly, because this matter had simmered for nearly a month. Qian Zhao thought no one would notice if he took action now, but he didn’t expect Young Master, your martial arts are unfathomable——"
It seemed Yuan didn’t recognize her as the one who beat up Consort Qian.
It’s unlikely he recognized her and didn’t tell his sweetheart.
"What’s his identity?" Gu Lan pointed to the still unconscious Yuan.
The man with the broken leg shook his head and said, "I’m just a minor character. I only know Yuan is a guard at the Wenyuan Pavilion, but secretly, like me, he’s part of the Qian Family."
"A minor character, eh? Then kill him." Gu Lan raised her dagger.
The man with the broken leg’s pupils shrank, and he stammered, "Bu-but, Yuan is highly skilled in martial arts. Our leader respects him greatly. I heard Qian Zhao found him for this mission. I really don’t know anything else. I beg you, spare me!"
"Which palace’s guard are you?"
"Zhong, Zhongcui Palace——"
Gu Lan went to the desk and picked up two blank sheets, saying, "Sign and stamp, and by then, you can testify for me, right?"
Her expression clearly said, I hope you can’t!
The man with the broken leg pressed his handprint while crying on the blank contract, the kind Gu Lan could freely fill in later.
She stored away the paper and knocked the man with the broken leg unconscious with a backhand, casually sprinkling some hemostatic powder on his broken leg to prevent him from dying on the spot from excessive bleeding.
Then, Gu Lan calmly sat in the rocking chair in the room, waiting for Yuan to wake up.
After rocking for half a two-hour period, the man showed no signs of waking, his forehead growing hotter and his face flushed red, as if you could fry an egg on it.
Not understanding, she punched Yuan hard in the stomach.
"Cough, cough, cough——"
Yuan spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, and finally, slowly opened his eyes.
His amber eyes seemed to have specks of gold dust scattered in them under the night sky, carrying a hint of confusion.
He slightly shifted his gaze toward Gu Lan.
Their eyes met, and seeing his delayed reaction, Gu Lan hesitated and asked, "Are you brain-dead?"
Yuan looked at her, and a shy and bashful smile appeared on his firm and stern face. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Lanlan, big brother isn’t brain-dead, you know."
His voice was gentle, with a touch of hoarseness. Though it sounded pleasant, the words left Gu Lan dumbfounded.
Gu Lan: It’s over; he’s really brain-dead.
A moment later, Gu Lan stared at the man she chased away, now squatting innocently in the corner and looking at her with a forlorn expression.
"Do you know who you are?"
"Wei Chengyuan." Wei Chengyuan said confidently.
He could remember his name, seemingly quite proud?
Gu Lan asked again, "Do you know who I am?"
"Lanlan." The man said softly.
Gu Lan held her aching forehead.
She saved this man hoping that sparring with him could enhance her martial arts, planning for him to be her punching bag. But now, he looked tenderly at her with reliance, as if he had taken the wrong medicine or was seriously ill.
If she remembered correctly, the little sister from earlier was named Wei Lan, sharing the same pronunciation as her own name.
The Lanlan that Wei Chengyuan referred to was that six-year-old girl, Wei Lan.
How could he mistake her for a six-year-old child?
Moreover... Looking at this tall man who appeared more like a six-year-old, sulking after being scolded, Gu Lan felt Wei Chengyuan seemed even sillier than Rong Yunhao.
Gu Lan rubbed her eyes, both tired and exhausted, but still pointed around, holding on as she asked, "Aren’t you afraid?"
Wei Chengyuan glanced at the corpses and blood all over the floor, calmly shaking his head, "Lanlan’s not afraid, so I’m not afraid. Big brother will help wipe your hands."
As he spoke, he tentatively extended a large hand, only to have it slapped away by Gu Lan mercilessly.
Wei Chengyuan pouted and sighed, squatting back in the corner sorrowfully.
Young Master Gu helplessly crafted a note with a pen, pasting a sheet of scroll on her room door to prevent Zijin from getting frightened by the scene inside when opening the door in the morning.
After accomplishing these, Gu Lan turned to Wei Chengyuan: "Let’s go, I’ll take you to find your sister."
Wei Chengyuan asked in confusion, "But isn’t my sister right here?"
Gu Lan darkly clenched her fists as she said each word distinctly:
"Look closely, I’m a man. Are you going to leave or not? If not, then prepare to die!"
Wei Chengyuan showed an expression of submission, as if reluctantly agreeing because she was his little sister, obediently standing up and following Gu Lan from behind.
He sneaked a glance at Gu Lan, muttering to himself in bewilderment, "Could Lanlan be a younger brother, and I got it wrong?"
At the door, Wei Chengyuan didn’t forget to hold an umbrella over Gu Lan: "Let’s go, Lanlan."
Gu Lan: ...
In the middle of the night, she was escorting a grown man home, someone who was trying to kill her just a moment ago.
Out of utter helplessness, Gu Lan awakened the gatekeeper, asking for directions to Yong’an Street East 17th Line.
Once Wei Chengyuan reunited with his sister and regained his memory, Gu Lan would acquire a good sparring partner.
No idea how long it took, but the directionally challenged Young Master Gu finally located Wei Chengyuan’s home.
As dawn broke, she yawned grandly at the fallen plaque inscribed with ’Wei Mansion’ and the collapsed walls.
The rain had stopped long ago, yet Wei Chengyuan still held the umbrella for Gu Lan.
He gazed at the front of his house, yet seemed devoid of recognition, carefully touching the plaque as he asked, "Lanlan, is this our home?"
"Your home, not mine."
Gu Lan pushed open the already dilapidated gate, and then, she was stunned on the spot.
