Chapter 110: Can’t Wear a Normal Size

"Little fuddy-duddy!" Ye Qianning ran over excitedly...

Sang Zhi turned at the sound of her voice. He was surprised to see Ye Qianning, but he frowned slightly at the sight of her running with her robes hiked up.

"Little fuddy-duddy." Ye Qianning ran right up to him, tilting her head back with a look of pure innocence.

"The rules of Lou Mountain Academy: no rushing," Sang Zhi said.

"I’m not rushing, I’m running."

Sang Zhi’s frown deepened. Unwilling to debate the point, he simply turned and walked away.

Ye Qianning followed him. The little fuddy-duddy’s stride was steady and surprisingly fast, forcing her to break into a jog on her short legs to keep up.

"Why are you following me?" Sang Zhi asked, turning back.

"I’m a student at Lou Mountain Academy now, too."

Sang Zhi looked skeptical.

"It’s true," Ye Qianning said earnestly.

"Then why aren’t you wearing a student uniform?"

"I... They probably don’t have my size, so I have to wait!" ’No one ever brought me a uniform,’ she thought. ’And with my build, a normal one probably wouldn’t fit anyway!’

Sang Zhi stared at her for a moment, and then his expression cleared as if in sudden understanding. "The academy has strict rules. You’re not allowed in the classroom without a uniform."

"It’s just the first day. The tutor will probably make an exception."

Sang Zhi looked displeased. "The tutor treats everyone the same. There are no exceptions. You should just wait until you have a uniform before coming to the classroom."

"I’ll just try. If they don’t let me in, I’ll come back out," Ye Qianning retorted.

DONG! DONG!

The sound of a bronze gong rang out.

The sound of the gong reminded Sang Zhi that he hadn’t yet entered the classroom. "You should hurry back. If the tutors see you running around the academy without a uniform, they’ll revoke your student status."

With that, he began to saunter away with his small, deliberate steps. The sight made Ye Qianning’s lip twitch. ’A normal kid could never master that walk,’ she thought. ’He looks like an old man strolling through a park.’

When the academy’s gong sounded, all students had to be in their seats. Being late meant punishment. By the time Sang Zhi reached the classroom, the tutor was already inside.

"Tutor," Sang Zhi called out.

"Eighth Prince, you are late again." Tutor Zhang’s brow furrowed with displeasure as he looked at the small boy.

Seeing this, the seated Sang Rui and a young boy next to him covered their mouths to stifle their laughter.

"I accept my punishment," Sang Zhi said.

"Then your punishment is to copy..."

"Tutor, my eighth brother has been late many times. The punishment is always just to copy the student code. It’s too light; he’ll never learn his lesson!" Sang Rui shouted from his seat.

Tutor Zhang heard this and felt it was true, but he then turned to the student. "Seventh Prince, do not interrupt your tutor. Do you wish to copy the student code as well?"

"I would not dare, Tutor. It’s just that you always assign copying the student code as punishment. It’s so light that it makes tardiness seem like no big deal. Others will start to follow his example. After all, if you’re late, the worst that happens is a bit of writing. Don’t you all agree?" Sang Rui asked, addressing the class.

"Tutor, the Seventh Prince has a point."

"The Eighth Prince has been late too many times. If the tutor is always this lenient, we’ll want to sleep in next time, too."

"Exactly! The tutor does this time and time again. We students are getting tired of it."

The children of wealthy families sitting around Sang Rui all chimed in with their agreement.

Sang Zhi’s little face was taut, and inside his sleeves, his small hands clenched into fists.

Tutor Zhang had to agree. He looked at the small boy by the door. "Then you’ll receive twenty strikes on the hand."

"Tutor, even strikes on the hand are too light!" Sang Rui cried out.

"Thirty, then." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Tutor, even that would be improper."

"What are you suggesting, Seventh Prince?" Tutor Zhang asked, confused.

"Tutor, just expel him from the academy. My eighth brother has been repeatedly corrected but refuses to change. He breaks the rules again and again, showing no respect for the student code or for you. Only expulsion will serve as a proper warning to the other students."
