I Became the Cute One in the Troubleshooter Squad-Chapter 109: Aftermath at Saint Maria (2)
The evacuation site where people had gathered was a large aquatic facility nearby—Aquamaryna.
Since it was late at night, the facility wasn’t in operation, but it was spacious enough to accommodate many evacuees.
More importantly, it had warm indoor heating, making it a perfect temporary shelter.
Hand in hand with Sabrina, I carefully followed the fixers’ guidance and entered the evacuation area.
And that’s where I finally reunited with David and Reine, whose whereabouts had been on my mind.
"Sis... Bro!"
"Sabrina, and Yuria. We found you."
"I was so worried! You didn’t answer your calls at all!"
"Ugh, sorry...."
"..."
With teary eyes, Reine pulled both of us into a hug.
I ended up getting dragged into it as well, though honestly, it wasn’t unpleasant.
Considering that the entire hotel had been crawling with undead, not being able to contact us must have been terrifying for them.
From a guardian’s perspective, it was only natural to be concerned.
Though... I still wasn’t sure why I was included in this hug.
Well, not that I minded—it was warm.
Once the emotional reunion settled down, we exchanged stories about what had happened on both sides.
Apparently, David and Reine had been wandering around the hotel, minding their own business, when the undead suddenly started attacking people.
Luckily, David was skilled enough to fight.
So, using his fists, he somehow managed to fend off the undead and escort as many people as possible out of the hotel.
Judging by the bandages wrapped around his body, though, it clearly hadn’t been an easy fight.
Well, it made sense.
The undead were created by one of the strongest necromancers in existence—Morte.
No wonder it had been a struggle.
"Our side had to deal with some kind of gas that turned people violent...."
"That explains why Alice and Raven weren’t here."
"That sounds like an absolute nightmare."
As we explained what had happened at the Enigma Auction, both David and Reine’s expressions darkened.
Just hearing about it was enough to make them realize how much trouble Alice and Raven had gone through.
And the fact that we had been separated from them during all of that must have left them feeling guilty.
Seriously, these two were too kind for their own good.
After spending an indeterminate amount of time waiting in Aquamaryna, finally—
At around 2 AM, Alice and Raven returned.
But then, out of nowhere—
They suddenly suggested that we go back to the hotel.
Reine, clearly confused, tilted her head in doubt.
"Wait, we’re going back to the hotel? That’s... unsettling...."
"Where else would we go at this hour? It’s peak season—nearby hotels are all fully booked. In the end, we have no choice but to stay there for the night."
Reine visibly hesitated.
And honestly?
I didn’t blame her.
The hotel was literally the site of an undead attack just hours ago.
Going back to that place was not exactly an appealing idea.
Her concerns were completely valid.
Normally, no one in their right mind would want to stay in a place overrun by undead.
But Raven, scratching his head, let out a sigh, as if he knew it was a hard sell but had no better option.
Finding another place to accommodate hundreds of displaced guests at this hour?
Impossible.
Not to mention—this was a resort town with limited lodging options to begin with.
There simply weren’t any alternatives.
Seeing Reine’s reluctance, Alice took her hands gently and reassured her with a confident gaze.
"It’s okay, Reine. The undead have already been completely wiped out. And fixers are patrolling the hotel inside and out. There’s no need to worry about anything happening again."
"Ah... well, if that’s the case...."
"Did it take this long because you were cleaning up the undead?"
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
"Partly. But the bigger problem was dealing with people who absolutely refused to stay in the hotel. That’s what really took time."
"Now that all that’s settled, there’s nothing left for us to do. Let’s just head back, get cleaned up, and rest."
Raven, clearly eager to crash for the night, turned on his heel and began marching toward the hotel.
Well, he had a point.
With no real choice, we followed behind him.
But then—
Something odd happened.
As we approached the elevators to return to our rooms, Raven suddenly led us to a higher floor instead.
Was he retrieving something he left behind?
That thought crossed my mind, but once we reached our destination—
I could only stare at him in confusion.
"Raven... this place...?"
"This isn’t our room. This is...."
"Yeah. The Royal Suite. One of the most luxurious rooms in Saint Maria."
Beep.
Raven pulled out a key card from his pocket and held it up to the scanner.
With a soft chime, the door unlocked and slid open seamlessly.
It was so smooth and natural, it was almost as if the room itself had been waiting for him.
...What the hell was this?
I had no idea what was going on.
Bewildered, I turned to Alice and Raven, looking for an explanation.
Alice, realizing my confusion, gave me an awkward, sheepish smile—
Then gently took my hand and led me inside.
“Whoa, this place...!”
“It’s huge! Way bigger than our last room!”
“Wait, is that real gold on the ceiling? Whoa... There’s even a mini wine cellar next to the chandelier?”
The interior was so luxurious, it barely felt real.
Compared to our previous Premier Suite, this was at least two or three levels higher in class.
If the last room made us feel like, Wow, I can’t believe I’m staying somewhere this fancy—
Then this one made us feel like we were dreaming.
“Yuria! Look at this! The bed looks ridiculously expensive!”
“...!”
She wasn’t wrong.
The bed’s quality was on another level—it felt like touching a cloud.
As I pressed my hands into the mattress, relishing its softness, I heard David and Reine speaking behind me.
Their voices carried a tone of confusion, clearly demanding an explanation.
“Raven, what exactly is going on here?”
“Yeah, did our rooms get switched or something?”
“The people who originally booked this room refused to stay in the hotel after the attack. And with all the other rooms damaged by undead, they had to rearrange things... so we ended up here.”
Raven gave a casual explanation, then collapsed onto one of the luxurious sofas, looking exhausted.
Curious, I sat down as well—
And wow.
The cushioning was unbelievable.
This was definitely some high-end furniture.
Still, David and Reine didn’t seem fully convinced by Raven’s answer.
Alice, seeing their hesitation, gave a sheepish smile and added more context.
“Actually, Victor personally argued that we played a huge role in resolving the situation. So the owner of Saint Maria generously allowed us to use this suite. For free!”
“That... makes sense.”
“Not that it really matters. Everyone staying in this hotel is getting free accommodations now. The hotel owner’s the only one taking a loss.”
Raven shook his head.
Free stay for all guests?
I didn’t even want to calculate how much money the hotel was losing right now.
Just imagining it made my brain hurt, so I flopped onto the sofa with a groan.
Still... considering the scale of the attack, it was practically a miracle that no one had died.
Maybe because of that, the hotel might actually gain popularity next year.
In this day and age, people weren’t just concerned about avoiding disasters—
They cared more about how a place handled a crisis.
“Just hurry up and take a bath, then get some sleep. Tomorrow, we’ll decide whether to head back to Nighthaven right away or stay here a little longer.”
Raven’s fatigue was obvious in his voice as he spoke.
Well, he had a point.
It was already close to 3 AM.
Washing off all the blood and sweat before passing out sounded like a good idea.
Since we were now in a Royal Suite, we had three giant bathrooms.
So there wouldn’t be any delay.
"Yuria, wanna bathe together? It’s been a while!"
"Ah, I also... want to bathe with Yuria...."
"Fufu, why don’t all the girls bathe together? The bathroom’s big enough."
“...!”
Why were they so eager to bathe with me?!
I felt a bit conflicted at Sabrina and Alice’s request.
But then again...
They had already seen my face plenty of times.
And honestly, hogging such a massive bathroom all to myself felt a bit selfish.
In the end, I had no choice but to let them drag me inside.
"Wow, Yuria. You look like an angel."
"Right?! Yuria’s face is so cute! It’s just hidden under that mask all the time!"
Apparently, this was Reine’s first time seeing me without my mask.
She casually tossed out flattering compliments that made my ears burn.
I mean... yeah, I liked my face, too, but...
Hearing people constantly call ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) me an angel or a living masterpiece was way too embarrassing.
Would I ever get used to it?
Probably not.
"It’s such a waste that you always cover it up. Though, I guess I don’t mind, since that means we get to keep you to ourselves."
"..."
Alice, gently rinsing the soap from my hair, casually dropped that line.
Keeping me to themselves, huh?
Well, I couldn’t really argue with that.
The number of people who had seen my bare face was incredibly small.
And all of them were people I trusted—both in character and ability.
After a lively bath session, we dried off and got ready for bed.
I was given a bed so large that it easily dwarfed me in size.
As I crawled under the thick covers, exhaustion hit me all at once.
‘Ugh... so sleepy... The moment I lay down, my eyes just...’
Burying myself deeper into the blankets, I drifted off to sleep.
And just like that—
The first day of our trip finally came to an end.
It had been an insanely long day.
