I Became a Nobody in My Favourite Novel-Chapter 24: “Dual Personality?” :4
Chapter 24 - “Dual Personality?” :4
Emil and the team walked back to their classroom in silence. The sunlit corridors of the academy felt cold now because of the scenario that had just taken place.
Kael clenched his fists again, his voice was deep. "I swear, Emil. That bastard Callen... One day I'll fuck him up and feed him to the hell hounds."
Luin nodded. "I also don't like standing by and watching from afar. While all that took place. We could've helped them."
Emil looked at Emil and patted his head. "Aren't you getting bolder day by day, Luin?"
Riven said coldly but with a small smirk. "Yeah, I noticed that too, he has started being more open with us."
Luin smiles shyly and says. "You guys are my friends that's why."
Riven thought for a while and said. "But if we had jumped into the fight, we might have been expelled on the second day of our schooling career. Or worse—get your mana sealed and sent back home with disgrace?" His voice was calm."
Kael looked away. "But still..."
Emil placed his hand on his shoulder. "Riven's right, Kael. There's a right time for everything. Right now, we are way too weak—we should learn, train and get stronger first. Then only we can fight with our seniors."
Kael let out a frustrated sigh and nodded. "Fine. I will listen to your words, Emil."
They reached back to their classroom—Class S—and stepped inside quietly. A middle-aged teacher with a short beard was already explaining something about historical eras of magical warfare. Emil barely listened to him.
His gaze falls on a boy sitting near the window.
Black hairs, blood-red eyes, pale skin. He sat alone, his chin resting on his arm as he stared blankly at the clouds, completely ignoring his surroundings.
Emil's eyes narrowed a bit.
He thought. 'That's him. Alaric Veylen. A quiet kid who barely spoke to any of his classmates or teachers... and he is a ticking bomb which can blast at any moment."
In the novel, after the trial arc, the next event that took place was about this guy only.
Alaric's second personality began awakening. A single body—two minds/souls trapped in a single body. His other self... it was not just violent. It was a ruthless, murderer.
That form of his killed way too many students and created an absolute rampage in the academy before he got taken down—by Riven. But even though Riven won the battle, Alaric was not that much wounded.
Emil was talking to himself. 'But now... I know that I can change that. I will change it. Or should I say that I have to change the outcome of this event?'
The system window was hovering in the air in front of Emil's eyes.
[Main Quest: Prevent the Rampage of Alric Veylen]
[Objective: Prevent casualties and suppress the violent soul before it awakens fully.]
[Reward: ???]
[Time Limit: 3 Days (In-world Time)]
Emil stared at the time limit. 'Three days... just the three days. It means this kid will go on a rampage in the upcoming three days.'
Emil stared at Alaric. For now, he was quiet. But the shift in his energy was faintly visible.
'I need to act as soon as possible."

Later That Night

The boys were resting in their rooms. Kael, Luin, Emil and Riven were on the same bed and were playing some sort of game.
Riven said with a smirk. "And here you lose again."
Kael made a voice of frustration. "Aghhh... not again, damn it."
Then Emil looked at the clock and said. "Guys, it's getting late. We should sleep now."
They all agreed with Emil.
The boys went to their respective beds, Kael was the one who fell asleep first while Luin was scribbling something in his diary. Riven was reading a small booklet which was about aura techniques.
Emil sat on his bed, he was deep in his thoughts. He opened the system window again and went to the quest section.
'I can't confront that guy directly. If I push him too early, it might trigger the event to take place even faster than the given time.'
He looked at the timer—which was slowly going down.
'Three days. I need a plan to win this.'

Next Day

In the class, Alaric was quieter than usual. But when someone accidentally made his pen fall on the floor, the look that Alaric gave them was cold, chilling—full of killing intent.
Emil saw that look in his eyes. He felt that intent to kill his.
He muttered. "It's beginning."
He whispered slowly to Rigen. "Riven, keep an eye on that kid. Alaric Veylen. Trust me on this."
Riven blinked and asked calmly. "You mean that quiet kid? What did that guy even do that he got on your bad side."
Emil didn't answer. "Just do it. Riven"
