Chapter 23 - “A Bully?” :3

Professor Elyas lets the sigils made by the four elements swirl in the air for a while before he snaps his fingers. In a few seconds, they all vanished into thin air.

"Now, I will show you something else." His expression turned serious. "There's one more element of which I haven't mentioned yet."

The room fell silent.

He raised his hand, and a faint wave of dark energy started to form on his fingertips—barely visible, yet chilling. "Shadow... the rarest and the most dangerous affinity."

All of the students got impressed and they started to murmur among themselves.

"Shadow magic is not like some other magic. It doesn't obey the same principles as others. It develops concealment, deception, and manipulation. The people who had shadow magic till now, we can count them on our fingers—shadow magic is rare and awakens naturally. If you ever meet someone who uses shadow magic, be cautious of that person."

Emil narrowed his eyes a bit, he was recalling something—or someone—but he stayed quiet for the time being.

Elyas snapped his fingers and some characters spawned on the board, they were made in the form of a chart.

Elyas smiled and looked toward the students. "Now, I will tell you all about the ranks of magicians—it depends on what mana circle you are, like." :

1. Tier 1 – Novice Mage

2. Tier 2 – Apprentice Mage

3. Tier 3 – Adept Mage

4. Tier 4 – Intermediate Mage

5. Tier 5 – Advanced Mage

6. Tier 6 – Expert Mage

7. Tier 7 – High Mage / Master Mage

8. Tier 8 – Archmage (Top human mages, legendary status)

9. Tier 9 – Dragon-tier (Non-human beings or transcendent magic users)

Elyas smiled and said. "These are the ranks among our magicians, the tower masters are all around the 7th circle. Our academy head, she is the 8th circle mage and only Woman archmage of our Empire."

Elyas looked at the board and then tapped the tier-9 with his fingers and said. "The tier-9 is a dream for people to attain. Only beings who have this are dragons, no human in our history ever reached this stage before."

Professor Elyas smiled softly. "That's it for today, Class is dismissed and you all can leave for your short break."

Break Time - Cafeteria & Chit Chat

***

Outside, the sun was shining brightly, the rays of the sun filled the academy with bright golden light. Emil and his team made their way to the cafeteria to pick something to eat, they all grabbed their plates and left with their food—eating while they all moved into the spacious academy ground.

Kael picked up his meat bun and took a bite. "Man, after a long tiring day of those boring classes—this thing tastes so good"

Luin smiled a bit and said. "Yeah, you're right, Kael. I was dying because of the hunger back then." He said while chewing a bite of the bread.

Riven and Emil were walking together, Riven looked at Emil—he was deep in thought.

Riven asked Emil. "Emil, what's up? I noticed that you have been thinking about something since the class of Professor Veyra."

Luin and Kael looked at Emil too and asked the same thing of him.

Emil smiled a bit. "Ah... it's not like that guys, I am just thinking about our future challenges, nothing else."

Riven sighed. "Just quit being a leader for a while and eat your meal."

Email maintained a neutral expression. "Yes, you're right."

They reached one of the open gardens, where students used to wander. As they were walking around it—

A group of girls from class A passed by them, they wore elegant robes and the symbol of their family was stitched into their sleeves.

Kael's steps slowed. "Okay but... did you see the one with the silver hairs? She's gorgeous dude."

Riven didn't even waited for even a second. He casually blinked the head of Kael. "Eyes front, you dumbass."

"Ouch! I am just praising her beauty, not being a creep or something."

Emil sighed and said. "It's the same thing if you are drooling."

Luin just chuckled as they all walked on.

After a while.

Soon, they reached a less busy part of the academy—a white plaza which was near the training ground.

The laughing sounds of a few students echoed in there.

A group of seniors from the second years stood in a semi-circle, they were surrounding a few three first-year students from Class C. One of the boys had bruises on his face.

One of the bullies said. "You think your little spell which you used on us impressed anyone?" He grabbed the hair of the other boy. "You're trash. Next time, you should bow when you see us"

Riven's expression changed the moment his eyes fell on the guy. "Oh. It's him, I thought he must have stopped doing all this. But, I guess not."

Emil frowned a bit. "You know him?"

Riven nodded. "Called Drestveil. He is currently the top of the second-year students. He is from the family of an Earl. I met him once at the party of Duke—he used to beat the kids back then too."

Emil's eyes narrowed as he observed Callen. The senior stood tall, long brown hair tied back, and a dark silver longsword sheathed on his back. His stance was relaxed, but there was raw, terrifying control in his posture.

'I remember this guy.' Emil thought. 'In the upcoming future... he becomes one of the best users of longsword. He was famous for defeating multiple 5 and 6-circle aura users in direct combat."

Kael clenched his fists. "Should we step in, Emil? My hands are aching, they want to beat some assholes." He said as his veins pop out from his forehead.

Riven's voice was calm. "No. We can't, we are not strong enough to meddle in the affairs of our seniors yet, we'll get crushed. By the rules of the academy and even by our seniors."

Luin joined in and said. "We are strong but it doesn't mean that we're untouchable. We should not step in."

Emil stared a moment longer before turning away. "Let's go. But we'll remember this and strike back at them when we get stronger."

They went from there, back to their classroom.
