I Became a Nobody in My Favourite Novel-Chapter 18: “Trial winners?”
Chapter 18 - “Trial winners?”
"You idiots are the ones who beat us in the trial?" Arthur's tone was filled with half disbelief and half insult.
Draven crossed his arms and looked at
Emil. "I never expected this good-for-nothing to win this trial."
Emil didn't respond to them right away. He just stood there calmly, watching two strangers talk, they were not strangers to him because he had read about them in the Gods Final Requiem. Riven leaned to the stone wall beside Emil, his eyes were cold and unreadable.
Emil replied with a calm tone. "We have done what was needed to be done to take this victory, it was an absolute victory for us."
Arthur scoffed. "Oh yeah? Sure, with a battle mage, a spearman and a swordsman."
Draven joined in. "I still can't believe that how these fuckers beat us in this, with this mismatched team, Which has almost zero teamwork."
Kael stepped forward and said. "I dare you to say that again, I will cut that stupid tongue of yours Draven."
Draven replied. "Chill out man, it's obvious you know. Your squad is half dead and you want us to believe that you guys didn't pull any sort of tricks to win this?"
Kael came in front of Draven before anyone could blink. "We were thrown into that fucking dungeon with half-ass knowledge, it was no less than hell for us, and we fought and came out of it. You don't fucking have any right to talk down to us because you were a little late to clear your trial."
Arthur grinned. "Oho, so touchy."
Emil raised his hand gently towards Kael. "Let it go, Kael."
Kael said. "But, Emil."
Emil stopped his min sentence and said. "I said let it go."
Then he turned to Raen and his team. "You're right, we are not in perfect shape, but it's not right to judge someone that how they came in the first place, you don't even know what we faced in our trial. So, it would be better if you accept your position and just stand back."
Riven glanced at Emil, a flicker of interest came in his eyes. He whispered under his breath. "This will be interesting in upcoming future. Emil Valcrest, I will stick up with you until you reach your destination and I will keep my eyes on your work." He just simply smirks.
Arthur narrowed his eyes and asked. "How would you get here first? When you tell us that first."
Lyra looks at Raen. "Raen, I think we are going overboard, we should take it that we got second place in the trials.
Raen just maintained his silence and awaited what Emil had to say.
Emil replied without any hesitation. "First we all cleared the dungeon. But, then we got a voice that said, the real trial begins now, then we fought with the mini-boss and it was a minotaur."
Back to when Emil and the team were fighting the Minotaur.
Riven asked Emil. "Emil, have you found the weak spots of the boss?"
Emil smirked and replied. "Yes, and now we will end this."
The Minotaur stomped on the ground hard. The floor beneath his feet cracked into multiple pieces. Steam was coming out from his nostrils, it was clear that he was angry.
"Luin, light it up now. Hit his legs!" Emil shouted and gave a command to Luin.
Luin didn't hesitate this time around. He brought both of his hands together and started channeling his mana, symbols started flowing in the air, and a swirl of blue and gold mana started surrounding Luin. The spell was formed, and he was focused.
"Azure Torrent," Luin shouted.
A concentrated blast of water magic slammed into the Minotaur's right knee. The beast roared as it got pushed back a bit, it was enough to shift its balance. Then Luin hit him with his second spell, he hit his left knee and made it burn. The beast flared in pain. Completely lost its focus and sanity.
"Now!" Emil sprinted in.
He dashed lower under a wild swing of the flaming axe of the Minotaur. The heat made his cloak burn, but he didn't stop. He reached the left side of the beast and struck forward, he sliced into the soft joints of the Minotaur beneath his arm. The blade dug deep into his skin.
The Minotaur screamed in pain.

Riven followed Emil's pace, he dashed forward. He used a nearby stone to get a big jump, leaped and came in mid-air, spun midair to get more force in his strike, and then brought his sword down into the Minotaur's shoulder, he ruined the muscle and tendon of the beast.
Kael, despite the pain he was feeling because of the blow he got before from the Minotaur, charged with one last push of his strength and then he jammed his spear into the beast's thigh, twisted it hard to increase the amount of pain and wound.
The Minotaur screamed in agony, started bleeding heavily now, its movements started to get sluggish, its power started flickering and his anger got off the charts.
"Guys, get back. Maintain your distance from him now!" Emil shouted.
They all dove away, after hearing to their captain's command.
Emil looked at Luin and said. "Luin, now. Use your last punch of mana and aim for Minotaur's neck. Our victory now depends on you."
Luin gritted his teeth, veins started popping from his forehead and his neck, blood started turning gold, and the last punch of his mana started draining out as he shouted:
"Golden Blaze!"
