Chapter 422: Chapter 422 City

Alina’s lashes fluttered as she whispered, "Good morning," her voice soft and warm in the quiet room.

Dante stepped toward her without hesitation, his tall frame casting a gentle shadow over the bed. She looked up at him, already flustered, and her breath caught when he leaned down. His hand brushed lightly through her hair, and he pressed a slow, lingering kiss to her forehead, soft enough to melt her bones and warm enough to send her heartbeat stumbling in her chest.

"Good morning," he murmured back, and the way his voice wrapped around her without even saying her name made her toes curl.

Lucien crawled toward him and wrapped his tiny arms around Dante’s waist. "Good morning, Dad," he mumbled, his voice still thick with sleep.

Dante chuckled, a deep and gentle sound, then bent to kiss Lucien’s cheek. "Good morning, sweetheart."

He scooped Sable into his arms next. Sable’s sleepy eyes widened as he shyly leaned in and kissed Dante’s cheek back, his small hands clutching the fabric of Dante’s shirt.

Dante’s expression softened completely. "Good morning, little moon."

He set them both down and looked at all three of them, his voice turning firm but warm. "Get ready, all of you. We are leaving in a little while."

Lucien nodded immediately and scrambled off the bed.

Sable clung to Alina for one more second before sliding off gently.

The boys ran toward their tiny wardrobe, chattering softly about which shirt matched which pants, and Dante’s gaze drifted back to Alina. His look was slow and steady, filled with a quiet intent that made her stomach flutter.

She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and whispered, almost breathless, "You are looking great."

Dante sank onto the edge of the bed beside her, the mattress dipping lightly under his weight. His hands reached for hers without hesitation, warm and steady, and when his fingers wrapped around her smaller ones she felt her pulse skip. She looked at him through her eyelashes, her heart thudding softly against her ribs.

His thumb brushed over the back of her hand, slow and deliberate, and heat rose up her neck. His crimson eyes, still holding that soft morning glow, travelled over her face with a tender focus that made her inhale just to steady herself.

"You want to say something?" she asked shyly, still unable to believe she was truly in a relationship with him, still unable to believe a demon lord could hold her hand this gently.

He shook his head lightly, his eyes drifting to her lips for a heartbeat before returning to her gaze. "No," he murmured, his voice warm like velvet sliding over her skin. "I simply wanted to spend a little time with you this morning... so my whole day becomes beautiful like you."

Her breath froze.

Her cheeks warmed instantly.

Her heart felt too full for her chest.

She looked away, flustered, the blush blooming across her skin making her glow in the soft morning light.

Seeing that, Dante’s expression softened into something quiet and triumphant, as if he had solved a puzzle he had been turning over in his mind since last night. In truth, he had spent half the night thinking of something to make her blush the moment she woke. And watching her now, shy and warm and pink-cheeked under his gaze, he felt more than satisfied. He felt undone in the sweetest way.

"Get ready too, alright? I prepared the car for us. It is cold outside, so wear something warm," he said, his voice low and gentle. Alina nodded and stood, smoothing her dress as she walked toward the door. Dante watched her leave with a softness he did not bother to hide. When the door closed, he turned back to the boys and began helping them get dressed.

After everyone was ready, they gathered downstairs for breakfast.

When they finished eating, Dante lifted his hand and opened a portal. Shadows slipped through silently, carrying the tiny suitcases Sable and Lucien had packed, Alina’s suitcase, and his own small one. He did not plan to stay long, so he carried only what he needed. The shadows hovered behind them like quiet helpers.

Alina climbed into the driver’s seat and adjusted her bag, and Dante took his place beside her in the passenger seat as if he had always belonged there. The boys settled in the back, their small legs hanging and their eyes shining with excitement as they stared out of the window.

Both pressed their hands against the glass, watching the scenery pass by, the bright morning light, the blur of trees, the wide world they had never seen from a car before. Their excitement filled the car so beautifully that Alina kept smiling to herself.

The city opened before them like a bright, bustling dream, and the moment Alina slowed at a signal, the babies leaned forward until their noses almost touched the glass.

Tall buildings, bright signboards, busy crowds, honking scooters, rushing people... everything felt loud and alive in a way they had never experienced.

"This is different," Lucien whispered, awe shaping every word as he watched skyscrapers rise above them like giants made of metal and glass.

Dante chuckled softly beside Alina. "We have tall buildings too, little one," he said, his tone warm despite the teasing.

Lucien nodded, because it was true. His father’s world had everything—castles, towers, floating halls, shadow mansions—but still, he could not look away. His crimson-turned-black eyes widened at every new sight. The shops lined with colorful clothes, the food stalls, humans talking loudly, buses speeding past, advertisements flashing bright lights.

Everything felt too fast, too alive, too strange... and strangely beautiful.

Sable tugged the window frame with his small hands. "Mom, why is everyone walking so fast?" he whispered, breath fogging the glass.

"Because city people are always in a hurry, sweetheart," Alina said with a soft laugh, her heart melting at their wonder.

Lucien pointed at a woman wearing a bright pink jacket. "Look at her clothes... humans wear such colorful things."

"And they carry so many bags," Sable added in confusion. "Do humans have too much homework?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Alina covered her mouth to hide her laugh, and Dante pressed his fingers to his lips, trying to contain his smile.

Cars rushed past them, people crossed streets with coffee cups, school children walked in groups, and the lights blinked red and green and red again. The boys kept turning their heads rapidly, trying to absorb everything at once.

Lucien whispered softly, almost to himself, "Everything looks so strange... but so interesting."

Alina reached back and brushed his hair gently, her smile warm and full of tenderness.

"Welcome to my world, babies."
