Chapter 406: Chapter 406 We need Mom more

"No..." Lucien mumbled, hiding his red face against her shoulder. "You’re making us shy..."

Sable nodded rapidly, his cheeks glowing like little lanterns. "Mom, don’t say smart... my brain will melt..."

Alina couldn’t stop smiling. Their tiny embarrassment was so precious it made her heart feel full and warm.

Behind them, Dante watched with his arms crossed, his expression unreadable, though his eyes softened more with every passing second.

He cleared his throat loudly, almost theatrically.

"Cough. Cough."

Three tiny heads turned toward him at the exact same time.

"I am here as well," he said, his voice dry enough to rival a desert.

"We know," Lucien and Sable replied in perfect harmony, not even a little embarrassed.

Dante blinked. "Good. Because I am happy you two are excited about having a mum, but I also have my mate, so maybe I should get more time with her?" he suggested, completely serious.

Sable gasped. "Dad, we are babies. We need Mom more."

Alina snorted into her hand.

Lucien nodded very seriously. "Yes. You are old enough to take care of yourself. But we are still babies."

Dante stared at him, offended. "Old?"

Lucien’s brows lifted high. "Should I tell Teacher your age?"

Alina looked at Dante with open curiosity. "I didn’t know your age, sir."

"Lucien," Dante said sharply, "no."

Lucien nodded in satisfaction, looking like a tiny mafia boss who had just won a negotiation.

"Good decision, Dad. Now we will take Mom and play with her. You can go do your work."

Sable held Alina’s hand proudly. "Yes. Daddy can go do boring adult things. We will keep Mom safe."

Dante froze.

Then stared.

Then blinked.

This tiny creature..his own son..had just dismissed him.

Lucien smoothed his shirt like an adult preparing for a business meeting. "Dad, don’t worry. We will return Mom to you later."

Sable nodded like an official escort. "Maybe."

Dante looked at Alina with a betrayed expression, silently begging her to help him.

Alina only smiled and patted the babies’ heads. "They’re so cute."

Dante pointed at Lucien, almost speechless. "He’s turning into me."

Lucien smiled sweetly and held Alina’s hand even tighter. "Of course. I’m your son."

Dante sighed, realizing with dawning horror that he had just been outsmarted, outmaneuvered, and completely overruled by two very tiny babies.

"Mom, can you play Lego with us?" they asked together, their voices small and hopeful.

Alina’s heart melted instantly. She chuckled softly and nodded. "Of course, babies. I would love to."

She settled comfortably on the soft carpet between them, her knees tucked under her as she watched Lucien and Sable gather their toys with glowing excitement. The moment she agreed, both boys lit up like little stars.

Dante leaned back against the wall, folding his arms as he watched them with a softened expression. He didn’t interrupt; he simply observed with a quiet, protective gaze, as if this peaceful moment was something he wanted to hold onto forever.

Sable picked up his doll first, holding it out to her with both hands. "This is my favourite doll. Her name is Momo."

Alina smiled and leaned closer to gently tap his head. "Aww, that’s such a cute name, sweetheart. Did you name her yourself?"

Sable nodded with exaggerated seriousness. "Yeah."

"And you did a wonderful job," Alina said warmly.

Sable immediately turned pink, his little ears glowing as he hugged Momo to his chest.

As they sorted the Legos, Sable kept glancing at his doll until he finally whispered, "This doll reminds me of Arielle..."

Alina paused at the familiar name. "Arielle? That cute little mermaid girl?"

Sable’s cheeks puffed shyly. "Yaa... I miss her..."

Before he could say more, Lucien opened his mouth, ready to expose him. "He actually lik—"

A tiny gasp.

A tiny blur.

And suddenly Sable slapped his hand over Lucien’s mouth, his eyes wide.

"You’re not supposed to say that, okay?" he squeaked, looking as if the entire world might collapse if Lucien continued.

Lucien froze, then started laughing through his nose, his shoulders shaking. He nodded slowly, agreeing to keep the secret but sable shy little face told Alina more than enough.

She smiled gently, watching the little demon pup hide behind Momo’s cloth hair.

"Oh, Sable..." she whispered softly, her heart aching with warmth. "I understand."

From where he stood, Dante raised one eyebrow, clearly amused.

Hours passed with Legos, dolls, and soft giggles. Eventually, their little bodies grew tired, and they began rubbing their eyes, their voices turning sleepy and small. Alina scooped one boy into each arm and carried them to their beds, with Dante following quietly behind her. She sat on the edge of the bed, brushing their hair gently and humming softly as their breathing slowed into peaceful sleep.

Lucien’s hand remained curled around the corner of her sleeve, holding her even in dreams. Sable slept hugging Momo, his lashes fluttering with each soft sigh. Something warm bloomed in Alina’s chest as she tucked the blankets around them one last time.

Dante waited by the door, his gaze soft at the sight of her lingering like a gentle guardian. When she stepped out, he closed the door with silent care, and the hallway suddenly felt too quiet without the babies’ little sounds.

"Finally we got time alone," Dante murmured, his voice deep and low in the peaceful hush.

Alina felt her cheeks warm. She tucked her hair behind her ear and whispered, "But it’s late, sir. I should go home. I need to take a bath and freshen up."

Dante paused, his eyes drifting over her face in a way that made her heart tremble.

"Maybe I can follow you," he murmured softly. "And you could stay here during the holidays. Sable and Lucien like you far more than you think."

Alina nodded slowly, her fingers curling nervously at her side. "I would love to stay for a few days, but... holiday, sir? I have to go home and visit my aunt and Georgia and Mom. They’ll worry if I don’t come... and I miss them."

Her voice softened with the thought of her small warm home.

Dante stood silent for a moment, studying her carefully. His expression shifted into something softer, something that made her heartbeat stumble.

"Can we come with you as well?" he asked gently.

Alina froze.

Her mouth parted slightly, and she stared at him as if he had just proposed in the middle of the hallway.

"With me?" she whispered, blinking fast.
