I Became a Kindergarten Teacher for Monster Babies!-Chapter 395 Exam (10)
Rocky, on the other hand, was not handling this well at all.
His eyes grew huge and watery, tears pooling dangerously at the corners as he stared at the desk like it had personally betrayed him. Science was terrifying. Too many words. Too many ideas. Too many things inside the body.
He lowered his head and began rubbing his hands together unconsciously, the soft scrrk... scrrk sound of stone brushing against stone filling the quiet space around him.
Luna’s ears twitched.
"Stop it, Rocky!" she snapped, already on edge.
Rocky froze instantly.
His hands dropped to his lap. His shoulders slumped. He looked up at her with the saddest expression imaginable, lips trembling slightly, eyes shiny like he had just been told snacks were cancelled forever.
Luna’s irritation flickered. She looked away with a huff. "...Just—don’t make noise," she muttered.
Rocky nodded quickly, blinking back tears.
At the front of the room, Alina pulled the science papers out of her folder just as the bell rang. The sound echoed through the classroom, sharp and final.
"Alright, babies," she said gently, starting to distribute the papers. "Let’s begin."
She moved from desk to desk, placing each paper carefully, smiling reassuringly, whispering small encouragements. Drake straightened immediately. Kelpie leaned forward eagerly. Vlad Jr. accepted his paper with calm dignity. Boo stopped spinning just long enough to grab his paper and glare at it suspiciously.
When Alina reached Rocky’s desk, she paused.
He looked like he was about to cry.
Her heart jolted.
She blinked, surprised, then forced herself to keep going, handing out the remaining papers quickly before circling back. Once every baby had their exam sheet, she returned to Rocky’s side and crouched down beside him.
"Rocky," she said softly, lowering her voice so only he could hear. "What’s wrong, sweetheart?"
Rocky sniffed, his eyes filling again. "Teacher... science is scary," he whispered, his voice shaking. "Too many things... inside the body... water... heartbeat..."
Alina smiled gently, placing a comforting hand over his small, stone-cool one. "Hey," she said warmly. "Look at me."
Rocky hesitated, then lifted his gaze.
"You know more than you think," she continued. "And remember, this paper is very easy. Just read the pictures first. You love pictures, don’t you?"
Rocky nodded slowly.
"And if you don’t know an answer," she added softly, "skip it and come back later. There’s no hurry. I’m right here."
His breathing slowed. The tears stopped.
"O... okay," he murmured.
Alina gave his hand a gentle squeeze and stood back up, returning to the front of the class.
Rocky looked down at his paper again.
This time, he didn’t feel like crying.
Science was still scary, but teacher was here.
Rocky looked down at his paper and carefully wrote his name in huge, uneven letters that took up far more space than necessary. He stared at it for a second, nodded to himself as if satisfied, and then finally dared to look at the questions.
He blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Then his eyes lit up.
The first question showed a picture of a plant, with arrows pointing at different parts.
Write the names of the plant parts.
And there was even a bright little sun drawn above it.
Rocky’s fear vanished instantly.
"Oh!" he whispered happily, gripping his pencil tighter.
He eagerly filled in the blanks where the arrows pointed. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Sun

So easy! he thought, a proud smile spreading across his face. Science was not scary. Science was friendly.
He moved on to the next question and almost bounced in his seat.
Healthy foods for the body.
"Yes!" Rocky murmured, joyfully writing down everything he could think of—vegetables, fruits, things his parents always told him were good. His pencil moved faster now, confidence blooming with every word.
The next few questions were about how plants grow, different types of weather, and simple everyday science. Some were a little tricky, but nothing felt impossible. Rocky paused when he needed to, thought carefully, then continued.
Across the room, Boo let out a long, dramatic sigh of relief after scanning his paper.
"Good," he muttered. "Very good. Teacher did not betray us."
He picked up his pen and started writing with renewed enthusiasm, floating just slightly above his chair as if lightened by hope.
Drake’s eyes shone as he flipped through his paper. He attacked the questions eagerly, scribbling down everything he knew with confidence. When he reached something he didn’t know, he frowned, skipped it, and moved on, determined not to let one question ruin his victory.
Meanwhile, Vlad Jr. let out a quiet sigh. Such an easy paper, he thought confidently. He could probably do it with his eyes closed. Still, he wrote carefully and elegantly, every letter neat and composed, as if the paper itself deserved respect.
Lucien, on the other hand, actually liked the paper too. He paused at a few questions, frowning slightly as he tried to remember what teacher had explained. Math came easily to him, but science was not his strongest subject. Even so, he worked through it patiently, skipping what confused him and returning once his thoughts settled.
Felix remained calm and neutral throughout. Some answers came to him immediately; others made him stop and think. He didn’t panic. He simply wrote what he knew, left space for what he didn’t, and moved on with quiet focus.
Kelpie was surprisingly excited. Even though he only knew a few answers for sure, those questions were exactly what he had revised. That alone made him happy.
Luna scanned the paper and nodded to herself. Not bad at all. She skipped the questions she didn’t like without hesitation and focused on the ones she found easy, her pen moving with confidence.
Sable was the most nervous of all. He only knew a few answers, and his little fingers came up to his mouth as he bit them anxiously. But when he looked around and saw everyone else writing, heads bent, pencils moving steadily, something inside him eased. Taking a small breath, he lowered his hand, picked up his pencil, and began writing too, doing his best one answer at a time.
