Chapter 383: Chapter 383 Perfect plan

"Teacher?" two small voices echoed together, soft and sleepy.

Alina looked up and saw Sable and Lucien standing in the hallway, both wearing the cutest nightwear she had ever seen. Lucien wore a tiny black shirt with matching pants, the collar slightly crooked from sleep, while Sable’s blue pajama set had tiny white clouds printed across the chest. Their hair was messy from sleep, Sable’s sticking up in soft little tufts and Lucien’s falling over his forehead in gentle waves. They looked so sweet she almost forgot how scared she had been moments ago.

Dante placed a steady hand behind her, guiding her gently forward. His expression stayed calm, unreadable as always, but his voice carried a warm firmness when he spoke to his sons. "Your teacher was frightened," he said. "So she will stay with us for a few days."

Both boys gasped softly.

Sable’s eyes widened, growing glossy with worry. "Teacher... scared?" he whispered, as if the idea itself were unbelievable. Alina flushed with embarrassment, wishing the ground would open and hide her. But before she could say anything, Sable rushed forward and wrapped his tiny arms around her legs, squeezing with the determination of a protective kitten.

"I will protect you!" he declared, tilting his little face up at her with those big, earnest eyes that always melted her heart.

Lucien looked at his brother, then at Alina, and hurried to hug her other leg, his arms wrapping tightly around her. "Me too," he said in a serious little voice, nodding like a tiny prince making a solemn promise. "Teacher doesn’t have to be scared. We are here."

Alina’s heart softened completely. She placed a hand on each of their heads, stroking their soft, warm hair, and she managed a shaky smile. "Thank you, sweethearts," she whispered. "I already feel much safer."

Dante watched them silently, his eyes lingering on Alina’s gentle touch and the way the boys clung to her as if she already belonged with them. A faint warmth flickered in his gaze—quick, subtle, gone just as fast as it appeared.

"Come," he said, clearing his throat softly. "Let me show you the room."

"Thank you, sir..." Alina murmured, her cheeks warming again.

He shook his head slightly, a hint of softness hidden in his otherwise cool expression, as if to say she didn’t need to thank him at all. He gestured for her to follow, and she stepped beside him, her small overnight bag held close to her chest.

Lucien and Sable padded after them, walking in perfect sync, their little steps tapping lightly against the marble floor. Every few seconds, Sable peeked up at her just to make sure she was still there. Lucien walked closer to Dante but kept glancing at Alina with quiet protectiveness.

The hallway felt warm with their presence. The soft glow of the lights, the gentle patter of tiny feet, and Dante’s tall silhouette leading them made her fear fade bit by bit, replaced by shy comfort.

They stopped before a door just beside Dante’s own room, and he pushed it open with a soft click.

Warm light spilled into a beautifully arranged guest room: soft cream sheets, a gentle lamp glowing on the bedside table, and the subtle scent of lavender drifting in the air. Alina’s heart fluttered. It felt peaceful, safe, like the kind of room where nightmares would never dare enter.

"You can take this one," Dante said, turning toward her.

His voice was calm... until the next sentence escaped his mouth without warning.

"And if you still feel scared, you can sleep with the babies. Or..." He paused only for a heartbeat before finishing, "you can come inside my room to sleep. It is next to yours."

The moment the words left him, Dante grew completely still. His eyes widened a fraction—barely visible, but enough for Alina to notice he hadn’t meant to say it out loud. For a man known across the domains for discipline and restraint, it was like watching a crack appear in a statue.

Alina’s breath hitched.

Her heart actually leaped and then stumbled. Her face went crimson so fast she felt the heat rise all the way to her ears.

Sleep with him?

Her mind spiraled into dangerous territory before she could stop it. She could almost hear her own heartbeat rushing like wings inside her chest.

"S-sir... I..." She opened her mouth and closed it again, unable to form anything close to a normal sentence. Her fingers gripped the handle of her small bag as if it might keep her from fainting.

Dante cleared his throat sharply, looking away for a brief second—an extremely rare show of fluster. "That is only if you feel unsafe," he added, his voice lower, more controlled, but still touched with the faintest hint of embarrassment. "Nothing more."

Before Alina could respond, Lucien stepped forward as if he had just discovered the most brilliant idea in the universe.

"Dad," he said, eyes sparkling like stars, "I think we all can sleep together."

Dante blinked. "What?"

"Your bed is so big it can fit ten more babies!" Lucien announced proudly. "So we can all fit, right? Teacher, me, Sable... everyone!"

Sable clasped his little hands under his chin, his eyes lighting up like lanterns. "Sleep... with Dad... and teacher?" he repeated in awe, as though this was not a sleeping arrangement but a grand adventure.

Alina nearly choked.

Her entire body heated up again.

"S-sleep... with... all of us?" she squeaked, her knees wobbling.

Lucien nodded earnestly. "Yes! Dad never kicks in his sleep. And Sable makes tiny wolf snoring sounds. And you can sleep in the middle so no shadows eat you."

"Sable will protect you!" Sable added immediately, puffing up his small chest.

Dante closed his eyes very slowly, as if silently asking the universe why his sons were like this.

"That will not be necessary," he said finally, trying to sound authoritative despite the faint redness at the tips of his ears.

Lucien frowned. "Why? It is a perfect plan."

Sable nodded firmly. "Very perfect."

Alina pressed her hand against her mouth, trying desperately not to laugh or simply sink through the floor from embarrassment. The thought of sleeping in Dante’s huge bed next to him, with two tiny boys who made soft, sleepy sounds and cuddled like warm little animals, made her heart feel as though it might burst right out of her chest.
