Chapter 374: Chapter 374 I will make you proud

After lunch, Alina resumed her classes, continuing the revision and note-making with new energy. To her relief, the babies were surprisingly calm and cooperative.

It warmed her heart instantly.

"Alright, everyone," Alina said with a bright smile, "let us talk about your exams again. We will only have tests in math, language, science, and art."

A few ears perked up. A few pencils froze. A few tails twitched nervously.

"For math, language, and science," she continued patiently, "you will all have written exams. Very simple, based only on what we have already studied."

Every baby nodded so seriously that Alina almost laughed.

"And for art," she said, "you will not write anything. You will draw or create something. I will tell you exactly what to make on the exam day."

Instantly, the tension melted from half the class.

Drake exhaled loudly as if he had been saved from a great tragedy.

Rocky leaned back with relief, muttering, "Art is safe... stone hands are good at art..."

Boo raised his hand proudly. "Teacher, Boo is master of art. Boo once drew a flower that looked like a ghost crying!"

Alina blinked. "Why was the flower crying?"

"Because Boo drew it like that," Boo said confidently.

Before she could respond, Vlad Jr. lifted his hand with aristocratic calm. "Teacher, please be assured. I will perform excellently in all subjects."

Kelpie lifted his hand too, far less confidently. "Teacher... if I spill water on my paper, will that be considered... art?"

"No, Kelpie," Alina sighed gently. "Please do not water your exam."

Kelpie nodded, cheeks puffed in worry.

Alina clapped her hands lightly. "Good. You all just need to relax, pay attention, and revise every day. Nothing will be difficult, I promise."

The babies straightened proudly, a classroom full of tiny warriors preparing for battle.

After classes ended, the final bell echoed through the halls like a soft sigh of freedom. One by one the babies gathered their bags, waved at her with sleepy smiles, and finally toddled or floated out of the classroom.

Alina followed them and watched as they were picked up by their guardians. Lucien and Sable had gone to the principal’s office.

"Finally..." she murmured with a tiny laugh, brushing her hair back as she headed toward the staffroom, greeting others briefly. Alina collected her belongings quietly, slipping everything into her bag before stepping outside into the afternoon sunlight.

She felt lighter today—tired, but in a soft, happy way—and she walked home with a little spring in her step, humming under her breath as she thought about cherry blossoms, giggling babies, and a certain someone whose smile made her chest warm all over again.

She reached home earlier than usual, kicked off her shoes, and breathed out in contentment. A peaceful silence filled her little apartment.

Meanwhile...

After handling Nightshade Court affairs, Dante returned to the kindergarten, but he didn’t find Miss Alina in the staffroom or the hallway. That only meant one thing—she had already left.

His chest tightened with disappointment.

He turned and walked toward his principal’s office, where Lucien and Sable were waiting quietly for him.

Alpha Ryker paused at the doorway, watching his daughter bent over her notebook with the fierce determination of a little wolf who had decided the world needed to be conquered before lunchtime. Luna’s small brows were knitted together, her pencil tapping against the page as she muttered numbers to herself. Her tail flicked in concentration, swaying in a rhythm that made him smile.

"Oh? You’re preparing for the exam already?" he asked softly, stepping inside.

Luna jumped slightly, then puffed her chest with pride. "Yes, Dad! We do not have much time left!" she declared, her little voice sounding far more serious than her size.

Alpha Ryker chuckled under his breath. Pride warmed his chest, but something tender tugged at him too. For a moment he didn’t see the determined little girl sitting cross-legged on the floor, he saw the tiny pup he had once held in both hands, no bigger than a loaf of bread, blinking up at him with confused eyes. He remembered the first night she had curled into his chest, how light she felt, how fragile. And now she sat there, practising addition and handwriting as if the fate of the pack depended on it.

He lowered himself beside her. "You’re growing too quickly," he murmured, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Every day you surprise me."

Luna giggled at the gentle touch. "Dad, I have to grow quick! How else will I become the strongest wolf in our pack? And I want to make teacher happy too because she explains everything so nicely." She puffed her cheeks, then added with adorable frustration, "But Dad, numbers are so slippery. They slide out of my brain the moment I catch them."

Alpha Ryker laughed softly. "Slippery numbers, hm? Then it’s good you’re practising."

"Yes! See?" Luna opened her notebook proudly, revealing a mix of correct answers, doodles of paws. "I am working very hard, Dad."

He placed a broad hand atop her head, rubbing her soft hair with a warmth that made her tail wag immediately. "I can see that. And I am very proud of you." His voice softened to a low rumble, filled with affection. "But don’t push yourself too much. You’re still a pup. You can study, but you should also play, run around, and enjoy being little."

Luna blinked up at him, her eyes huge and shining. "But Daddy... I want to do well. I want to show teacher that I can be smart too!" She leaned closer. "She always pats Drake’s head and tells him he tried well. I want a pat too."

Alpha Ryker pretended to gasp dramatically. "My daughter wants pats?"

Luna nodded eagerly.

He smiled, lifting her gently into his lap. "Then I’ll give you ten for now, and you can collect the teacher’s one tomorrow."

He ruffled her hair and kissed the top of her head, and Luna burst into giggles, clutching his shirt with little fingers.

"Dad!! That tickles!"

He held her a little closer than necessary, unwilling to let go just yet. "Study, little wolf... but don’t grow up too fast, alright?" he whispered into her hair.

Luna nodded, resting her head on his shoulder for a moment before pulling away to return to her notebook, determination renewed.

"I will make you proud, Dad," she said softly.

Alpha Ryker’s heart melted right there, warm and full.

"You already do, sweetheart," he replied.
