My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 187
Vivienne’s POV
By the time we returned from the lighthouse to the forest campsite, the tour guide had already cleared a space with the other tourists and was preparing the bonfire.
Sophie and I brought self-heating meals, along with some cured meat and barbecue to go with it. For camping in the wild, it was more than enough to satisfy us.
Dylan was helping the tour guide distribute the food.
"Here you go, ladies," Dylan said, bringing over two paper cups of coffee. He handed one to each of us. "If you need more, you can grab some over there."
"Thanks." I took the cup, sipped it, and set it aside.
After dinner, I slowly sipped my coffee, enjoying its warmth.
The tour guide pulled a few bottles of beer from the vehicle and asked those gathered by the bonfire, "We’ve got some beer here. Anyone want one?"
Not many people seemed interested—only five or six spoke up.
The tour guide handed out the bottles, then looked around. "None of you want any? Look at that moon, the beautiful scenery—this is a rare chance! Are you sure you don’t want a drink? A bottle of beer is just like a soft drink, won’t get you drunk."
Encouraged by the tour guide, a few more people spoke up, asking for beer. Sophie also went to grab two bottles, came back, and tossed one to me. "These moments don’t come often. Have a drink."
I caught the bottle and popped the tab open.
In a foreign land, sitting in the wilderness with a group of familiar strangers, enjoying the view, chatting, and laughing... I did feel like having some beer.
I wasn’t sure if it was because my tolerance had dropped or something else, but after only half a bottle, I began to feel light-headed. My eyelids grew heavy, and I couldn’t stop yawning. I felt utterly drained.
Sophie noticed and asked, "Why are you so tired?"
"I didn’t sleep well last night."
I wasn’t lying.
Last night, I had cried to Alexander, "I just want you to stay away from me."
Alexander had held back for a long time before reluctantly agreeing, then turned and walked away in silence.
I still couldn’t figure out what his attitude was. Lying in bed, with my eyes closed, all I could see in my mind were Alexander’s disappointed eyes and his lonely back. I tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep until deep into the night.
"You’re not still freaked out by those fans from a few days ago, are you? Maybe you should head back to the tent and rest. There’s really not much to see now that it’s dark," Sophie said.
Most people were just gathering to chat or play games, so it didn’t really matter if I joined in.
"Alright, I’ll head back to the tent." I set the bottle down, waved goodbye to the tour guide, and made my way back to the tent.
There were about a dozen tents scattered around the campsite.
Sophie and I’s tent was farther from the bonfire, set up on the edge of the forest, with two other tents even farther away.
The area was sprinkled with insect repellent, so there was no need to worry about snakes or mosquitoes.
I unzipped the tent, crawled inside, zipped it back up, and covered myself with the thin blanket. I placed my phone on the side and closed my eyes, drifting into a deep sleep.
It wasn’t long before I woke up, feeling hot. I kicked the blanket off.
Half-awake, I thought I heard the sound of the zipper being pulled open. Still with my eyes closed, I groggily asked, "Sophie, is the bonfire party over?"
The sound of the zipper stopped, but no one answered.
After asking, I rolled over and quickly fell back asleep.
Dylan’s POV
Hearing the silence inside the tent, I heard the zipper again as it opened, and I quietly slipped inside.
I held my breath, not daring to turn on the light. Instead, I relied on the moonlight filtering through the mesh at the top of the tent to survey the interior.
Seeing that Vivienne was sound asleep, I carefully reached out to remove her clothes.
This was the first time I’d ever done anything like this, and my hands were trembling uncontrollably.
"Hot..." Vivienne murmured, lifting a hand to wipe her forehead, though there was no sweat.
The heat inside her body was unbearable, and she couldn’t seem to shake it off.
I froze, terrified of waking Vivienne, not daring to move an inch.
Had the drug started to take effect?
Apollo Bay was a small town, a popular tourist destination, and it was quite prosperous. Perhaps there were more couples visiting, or maybe it was just the more liberal attitudes abroad, but the town had an adult store. On my way back from the lighthouse, I’d stopped by...
When Vivienne withdrew her hand, it brushed against my arm, sending a cool sensation through me.
Her mind was in a haze, her thoughts a jumbled mess. She instinctively reached out, searching for something cool to soothe her.
I saw this and carefully extended my hand.
Vivienne grabbed it, almost instinctively, pressing it to her face, trying to cool the heat emanating from her body.
But it wasn’t enough. The coolness didn’t satisfy her, and she craved more.
A rush of excitement surged through me. I grew bolder and whispered, "Don’t worry, darling. I’ll give you what you need."
I was about to continue undressing Vivienne when suddenly, footsteps sounded from outside.
I tensed and held my breath.
Could it be Sophie returning?!
What should I do? What should I do?
I quickly lay down, closed my eyes, and pretended I had entered the wrong tent.
It would be best if someone was just passing by. If it was Sophie, at least I could explain myself.
The footsteps grew closer, stopping in front of the tent, and the zipper was pulled open.
A wave of despair washed over me.
The bonfire party shouldn’t have ended so soon. I didn’t expect Sophie to be back this early!!
The plan was ruined, and all I could do now was hope Sophie wouldn’t notice anything strange about Vivienne. I could make it through the night, and then everything would be fine.
Suddenly, an arm draped across me.
My heart nearly stopped in shock.
Vivienne, her mind foggy and confused from the heat, was instinctively searching for comfort, like someone in the scorching desert seeking an oasis.
When she found it, she threw herself into it.
I didn’t dare move, my heart breaking with helplessness.
I told myself it was fine—just claim Vivienne had gotten drunk, and Sophie probably wouldn’t suspect anything.
The tent flap opened, but there was no further movement.
My heart kept racing, and suddenly, I felt a chill in the air.
Sophie must have been shocked by what she saw inside the tent!
A few seconds later, I heard rustling beside me. I felt a lightness on my body—Sophie must have pulled Vivienne away.
More rustling sounds, followed by Vivienne’s soft groans, and then footsteps moving away.
The silence returned.
After a long while, I finally dared to open my eyes. The zipper of the tent was wide open, and Vivienne was no longer beside me.
She must have been taken away by Sophie, worried about the rumors it might cause for Vivienne. Sophie probably took her somewhere with extra tents provided by the tour guide.
I stuck my head out of the tent, checked that no one was around, and hurried back to my own tent.
I lay there, feeling guilty and restless, my mind spiraling with thoughts. Before long, I fell into a deep, troubled sleep.
I don’t know how much time passed, but I was suddenly jolted awake by a shout.
Groggily, I climbed up and looked out of the tent to see Sophie shouting.
The tour guide walked over and asked, “What happened?”
“Vivienne... my companion... she’s gone!” Sophie’s face was full of panic. “She said she was coming back to sleep!”
Instantly, all my sleepiness vanished.
Someone took Vivienne from the tent?!!
I was filled with frustration. How could I have let someone take Vivienne away from me like that?
That person must have snuck into Vivienne’s tent in the middle of the night with ill intentions. Maybe they had the same plan I did!
Everything I did only played into someone else’s hands!
If I had stopped Vivienne and framed that person for using the drug, maybe Vivienne would have been moved and ended up with me!
I had missed my golden opportunity, and now regret consumed me.
