Chapter 339: Chapter 339 Panic

Boo stiffened, his glow flaring with distress. "No! Nothing will happen to you, Teacher!" he said stubbornly, hugging her even tighter. "I won’t leave you. I’m not scared when I’m with you."

Alina’s breath trembled, her lips tightening in fear and determination.

And Boo, sweet brave little Boo, kept playing quietly with a strand of her hair, murmuring to himself.

"Teacher and Boo will find everyone... we’ll save them... we’ll be okay..."

His tiny voice echoed softly through the dark cave.

Far behind them, beyond the barrier, Dante’s hand stayed pressed against the wall, his eyes burning with worry.

Dante’s aura darkened like a storm collapsing in on itself, shadows curling and twisting around him in a frantic pulse he could barely control. He pressed his palm against the barrier again and again, each time the force throwing him back, but he refused to stop. He refused to stand still while Alina and four babies were somewhere inside that cursed cave.

His voice came out deep and sharp. "Shadow."

The dark creature rose instantly from the ground, bowing its head as if sensing Dante’s desperation.

"Bring the witches," Dante commanded, his tone leaving no room for hesitation. "And call every skilled caster in Nightshade. Now."

The shadow vanished like smoke.

Dante tried the barrier again, slamming his hand into it with a snarl of frustration, but it did nothing except spark violently and push him back. His chest rose and fell too fast, panic tightening his throat.

"Dad... everything will be okay!"

Lucien’s soft little voice pierced through the heavy air. He scrambled up to his father with trembling steps, eyes wide with worry. As soon as he reached Dante, he touched his arm gently.

Dante turned sharply, and the moment he saw Lucien’s face, something inside him cracked.

He scooped Lucien up immediately, holding him against his chest as if grounding himself through him. He pressed a fierce kiss to Lucien’s forehead, his voice low and shaking.

"My baby," he whispered, clutching him tighter. "I’m here. I’m right here."

Lucien wrapped his small arms around his father’s neck and pressed his cheek against Dante’s shoulder. "Teacher and Boo are strong. They will bring Kelpie and the others back. Dad, don’t worry."

Dante closed his eyes for a moment, grateful for his son’s steady little voice in the middle of all this tension. But still, the fear in his eyes didn’t fade.

Because Alina and four babies were inside that cave.

Meanwhile King Corvus was already sending out rapid orders.

"Search the entire lower cavern," he instructed his guards. "Bring the magician council, and inform Lady Elowen and the Oracle. Hurry."

Servants scattered in every direction, swimming with urgency.

More attendants gathered around the cave entrance, whispering nervously. Even seasoned soldiers looked unsettled. No one dared approach the barrier after seeing how violently it repelled even their king.

King Corvus exhaled heavily, anxiety tightening his features. "General Koel rarely tolerates strangers near his home, and if the children entered without permission..."

Lady Maris placed her hand on his arm quickly. "Don’t assume the worst. They are only babies. He will not harm them."

Corvus nodded, but his jaw clenched.

Dante tightened his hold on Lucien and looked back at the barrier, a single thought pounding through his mind.

"Alina... please be safe..."

Meanwhile Luna stood firmly in front of the remaining children, her tiny wolf ears pinned back and her golden-brown eyes sharp with responsibility. She looked so small compared to the towering sea creatures rushing around, but the way she squared her shoulders made her seem like a little guardian wolf protecting her entire pack.

"Everyone stay close," she said, her voice surprisingly steady for a child. "No wandering."

Drake nodded quickly, though his tail flicked anxiously. He kept glancing at the dark mouth of the cave, clutching the tiny bag of treasures he bought earlier. "Teacher will come back... right?" he whispered, trying to sound brave but failing.

Vlad Jr. didn’t answer at first. His red eyes were fixed on the barrier, his small fangs biting into his lower lip. Of all the babies, Vlad Jr. was usually composed, even elegant, but right now his hands were trembling slightly. "She... she will," he finally said, although his voice cracked. "Teacher is strong."

Sable, however, couldn’t hide anything. His little face was already shiny with tears he was trying so hard not to let fall. His soft black hair stuck to his cheeks as he stared at Dante, whose own fear made the air feel heavy and cold.

Every time the barrier sparked, Sable flinched.

Then he whispered, voice tiny and broken, "Will Teacher be okay...?" He wiped his eyes quickly with the back of his hand, embarrassed. "She took care of us so much... what if she gets hurt because of us...?"

Luna immediately held his hand, squeezing firmly. "Teacher will be fine," she said, her tone fierce. "And Boo is with her. Boo is annoying, but he is strong."

Drake nodded, though his lip trembled. "Yeah... Boo will scream so loud the monster will run away."

Vlad Jr. slowly placed his hand on Sable’s head, awkward but sincere. "And Principal sir... he will destroy anyone who touches them."

Sable looked up at Dante then, really looked at him. Seeing Dante’s strained expression, the tightness around his mouth, the shadows swirling violently around him, Sable’s small heart squeezed.

He whispered, voice trembling, "Principal sir looks like he’s hurting inside..."

Luna swallowed hard and nodded. "Because Teacher and our friends are inside."

Sable blinked rapidly, tears finally spilling. He covered his face with both hands, trying not to sob. "I want them back... I want Teacher..."

Immediately all three gathered around him, Luna pulling him into a hug, Drake patting his back clumsily with one hand while still holding his bag, and Vlad Jr. standing over them protectively, his eyes shining with worry.

Luna pulled back from the hug first, wiping her eyes fiercely with the back of her hand as if refusing to let anyone see her cry again. Her little wolf ears flicked upward, trying to regain their proud angle. She sniffed once, straightened her posture, and looked at Drake with a stern expression that made her seem like a tiny pack leader again.

"Don’t hold weight, Drake. Put your bags down," she ordered, hands on her hips just like Alina did when the class was chaotic.

Drake looked down at the shiny treasure bag clutched to his chest as if it were a newborn pup. He hesitated, then mumbled, "But... but my shiny things..." His tail drooped a little.

"Drake," Luna said firmly, "my dad always says your hands need to be free when you’re running or when something dangerous happens. What if you need to run?"
