I Awoke as an Imprisoned Villainess-Chapter 4 - Claude Bradley
Claude Bradley
The tower of confinement is not far from the royal palace.
In his office in the tower, the black-haired knight, Claude Bradley, was leaning back on his leather chair and let out a deep sigh with his eyes closed.
At the tender age of 22, he, the knight commander of the first order of knights under the direct control of the crown prince, is being tormented terribly in the head now.
“What the hell’s wrong with that woman?…”
What came to his mind is the image of Violet Elford, the duke’s daughter.
Pale golden blonde hair and purple eyes.
That girl who has the aura to take control of the place as she pleases with just a word, is the most ridiculous girl he’s ever met.
Arrogant, greedy, and hedonistic.
She often plays her tricks on others and doesn’t tolerate even the slightest discomfort caused by anyone. Claude has always thought that she must have left her sense of guilt and conscience in the depths of hell.
She, who had given Claude a look which says, “Get lost” every time he didn’t move as she wanted him to, has been looking at him with strangely tranquil eyes ever since they came to this tower.
The image of her sleeping on the floor for some reason, her panicked look when he woke her up, and the way her eyes lit up when she saw food, came to his mind.
‘—No, it’s odd!’
As Claude was holding his forehead thinking, there was a knock at the door.
“Enter.”
It’s his subordinate, Neil Harvey, the deputy commander who entered.

“Wow, you look tired.”
A small smile appears on his face after looking at Claude’s face, and his (TL, Neil) black hair, cut at the jawline, sways. He has androgynous good looks and is an unreserved friend to Claude.
“So? How’s the lady?”
“Awful. She’s been coming up with a new kind of mental attack.”
“Ahaha. The knights on guard and the handmaidens were all pale after serving her as if she’s a harbinger of curse. ”
Neil gives Claude an amused look. He is clever and skilled, but he has a part of him that is easily amused by everything.
“Maybe she changed her mind after going through deep reflection. Even for the notorious daughter of Duke Elford, the case this time is too abnormal.”
“Indeed. It was unlike her.”
A few days ago, at the soiree where his master, the crown prince, Johannes De Glosshimmel and count’s daughter, Lily Redgrave announced their engagement.
At the very moment Johannes announced the engagement, Violet who was seated near the king, unexpectedly poured wine on him(TL, Johannes), slapped his fiancee, count’s daughter, Lily Redgrave on the cheek, and made her get down on her knees in a horrific manner.
Claude immediately seized her, but Violet was enraged, saying, “Do you think the likes of you can get away after doing this kind of thing?!”
Violet hadn’t been seen so outraged like that ever since she grew up. She would not tolerate even the smallest offense, but she never showed her anger on her face except her eyebrows frowning a little.
What’s more, although she never put her bad rumours in mind, she would not be foolish enough to do something self-destructive in front of the public.
‘What’s gotten her so riled up? Even what asked, there wasn’t answers, and Redgrave count’s daughter said she had no idea too. …Naturally, since there is no interaction between the two.’
Claude shakes his head, pondering about this.
“But.. there’s no way she changed her mind. If she was going to change her mind, she wouldn’t have done it in the first place. She is that kind of person.”
Claude says it resolutely, and Neil shrugs his shoulders.
“That’s harsh, especially it’s about your fiancee.”
“Fiancee candidate. It’s hard to imagine myself marrying her.”
While he’s saying that, he makes a bitter face. The situation has worsened because of Violet’s foolish actions.
Until now, they had been using each other, as it would be troublesome to get a new fiance candidate while deceiving others nonchalantly. However, it wouldn’t be strange to get a royal command for them to get married any time now.
His Majesty is doting on his niece; the child of his late sister; Violet.
He probably hopes that she’ll settle down and calm her mind after marrying, before she causes more trouble to the point he can’t protect her anymore.
‘I don’t think she would settle down even after marriage.’
In fact, she would be happily harassing Claude and showing her viciousness.
Neil chuckles at Claude, who sighs thoughtfully.
“Well, I don’t believe she changed her mind either. The doctor said it’s a sign of a sudden mental breakdown. She’s just 18 and a young girl. Maybe, she’s acting like that because she felt disheartened after entering the tower?”
Claude doesn’t think so. When Claude, who was assigned to watch over her, was accompanying her from the duke mansion to the tower, she had regained her calm, and no matter how you look at it, she was the usual Violet Elford.
She even seemed to be in a good mood, as if she would start singing out of nowhere. He even wondered what she was planning dubiously.
Then, in front of the tower of confinement, she smiled for a moment as she looked up to the sky which was about to snow and collapsed.
In the end, the doctor prescribed it as “Temporarily losing consciousness due to mental strain” and she woke up.
After she woke up, she was a whole other person.
“—She’s acting heroic because she feels disheartened? No way, she’s definitely not that kind of person.”
At the same time, he remembers the way she tried to put her meal into the closet, looking genuinely sad.
Was that because she thought Claude was going to treat her badly who could not resist after entering the tower?
‘…No, impossible. She’s not the kind of person to worry about such things.’
“–Don’t let down your guard. She’s not afraid to do unpredictable things.”
As if to shake off any thoughts that came to mind, Claude told Neil with a stern look on his face.
